5 Ope Days Our Ope Days are a great way to get a sap shot of what uiversity life is like here at UCP ad provide you with all the iformatio you eed to help you make the right decisio for your future. 6 How to apply Applyig to UCP is easy! To apply for a course just follow the three-step process below. Step Oe: Choose your Course UCP offers a wide rage of udergraduate, foudatio ad bachelors degrees, as well as postgraduate degree qualificatios. You ca browse the full list of udergraduate or postgraduate courses olie at or call us o Step Two: Check your Qualificatios Oce you have decided o the course you would like to study, you eed to check that you meet the etry requiremets. Each course ad uiversity will have differet etry requiremets. If you are still studyig at school or uiversity you do ot have to wait util after you fiish your curret course to apply. We ca make you a coditioal offer based o the predicted results you expect to achieve. We also offer accredited prior learig which meas life experiece ad career kowledge ca be cosidered whe makig a applicatio. Step Three: Make a Applicatio Oce you have chose your degree course you are ready to make a applicatio. Full-time Study If you are applyig for a full-time udergraduate bachelor s course you will eed to make a olie applicatio through UCAS. Applicatios to UCAS are made olie usig their web-based Tracker System via Apply ( O your UCAS applicatio you eed to iclude the istitutio code for the uiversity to which you wish to apply. The istitutio code for Uiversity Cetre Peterborough is P56. Applicatio forms, accompaied by the registratio fee, should be retured by UCAS deadlies Applicatios begi 1st September ad the 1st deadlie is 15 Jauary i the year before the programme commeces, although it is possible to apply later tha this if courses still have vacacies. Part-time ad Postgraduate Study If you are applyig for a part-time or postgraduate course you ca either complete the applicatio form i the back of this guide or dowload a paper applicatio form from our website Selectio Whe we receive your applicatio form, a ackowledgemet letter is issued ad completed applicatios reviewed by the appropriate member of staff i Admissios. Successful applicats will receive either a coditioal or ucoditioal offer. I additio, you may be ivited to a iterview or assessmet cetre, or requested to submit a portfolio of work or samples of writig depedig o the course you have applied for. Uder the terms of a coditioal offer, applicats are requested to obtai or provide evidece of further or pedig qualificatios that will allow them to fully satisfy the course etry criteria. Such studets may, for example, be awaitig fial results for their A Levels. Ucoditioal offers may also be issued directly to applicats whose qualificatios fully satisfy the etry criteria of their desired course. Disabled Studets Uiversity Cetre Peterborough welcomes equiries ad applicatios from disabled studets whether disability is due to mobility or sesory impairmet, specific learig difficulties, metal health issues or a medical coditio. Applicatios from disabled studets are processed the same way but applicats should declare their disability at the applicatio stage so that UCP ca cotact them to assess how to meet ay support eeds they may have. Disabled applicats may be ivited to visit the campus so that this ca be doe i perso. Disclosure of Crimial Backgroud To help the uiversity reduce the risk of harm or ijury to ay member of its commuity caused by the crimial behaviour of other studets, UCP must kow about ay relevat crimial covictios a applicat has. You must tell UCAS or UCP by declarig that you have a covictio o your applicatio. Do ot sed details of the offece; simply tell us that you have a crimial covictio. 8 Accreditatio of Prior Learig (APL) UCP offers studets mobility i their studies, by recogisig learig they may have completed elsewhere, before applyig to study. The Accreditatio of Prior Learig processes esure that we ca take this ito accout whe determiig the modules you must study. It is importat that you should idetify ay relevat prior learig whe you apply. Should your previous study specifically relate to modules o the course you wish to udertake, we may approve a reduced programme of study, thus shorteig the time it takes to obtai your award. Where this relates to learig completed through a earlier course of study, this is called Prior Certificated Learig, ad where learig has bee achieved through relevat work or experiece, this is referred to as Prior Experietial Learig. Claims must be approved before you commece a course. Accreditatio of Prior Certificated Learig (APCL) APCL relates to learig completed through a earlier course of study. If you have previously completed a course which is relevat to your proposed course, you should make this clear whe you apply for admissio. To be eligible for cosideratio i this way you must be able to submit certificatio, which shows your success i a fial assessmet for that course. Learig must be curret i.e. completed withi the last five years. Or further evidece of updatig will be required. Simple participatio i a course or a attedace certificate is ot sufficiet. Accreditatio of Prior Experimetal Certificated Learig (APEL) It is importat to uderstad that the APEL process does ot award academic credit for experiece aloe, but for learig which ca be show to have bee achieved through that experiece. Studets are required to prepare a idividual case for the credit arisig from their learig experieces. This ormally meas that a studet receives support i the preparatio of a portfolio, i which their claim is justified i detail ad is supported by relevat evidece. This portfolio of evidece is the submitted for assessmet ad the possible award of academic credit. Alterative methods of assessmet of evidece may be available but eed to be discussed with the appropriate Admissios Tutor

10 Fees ad Fiacial Support 2015/16 Our fees for will be 7,000 per year for fulltime udergraduate courses. For full-time postgraduate courses the fees are calculated o a credit basis. I order to support higher educatio studets with course fees, a umber of sources of fiacial assistace are available from both us ad the Govermet to help you with your fees ad livig expeses. UCP Fiacial Icetives to aid study ad developmet A Global Scheme paymet of 250 will be made to 2015/16 etrats o successful completio of the academic year. I additio those from low icome households will receive 400 at the ed of the first semester to support their studies. It is hoped that studets ca use these fuds to participate i field trips, evets to ehace their studies ad resources for their courses. Full time Degree Level studets If you re startig a full-time higher educatio course, the mai types of fiacial help you may be able to get are: a Tuitio Fee Loa to cover your fees i full a Maiteace Loa a Maiteace Grat a Bursary from your uiversity or college Tuitio Fee Loa New studets ad most cotiuig studets, who started their courses o or after 1 September 2013, ca apply for a Tuitio Fee Loa of up to 9,000 per year to cover the full cost of tuitio. Studet Fiace Eglad will pay the fees directly to the Uiversity Cetre ad you will ot have to pay back this loa util you have fiished your studies ad are earig over 21,000 a year

11 Maiteace Loa Full-time studets ca also apply for a Maiteace Loa from the Govermet to help with livig costs. These are paid ito your bak accout at the start of each term. The amout of Maiteace Loa you ca borrow depeds o your circumstaces, icludig your household icome, what year of study you are i, where you live ad study, ad ay Maiteace Grat you may be eligible for. Maiteace Grat A Maiteace Grat ca help pay towards your livig costs (food, travel, accommodatio etc) if you study full-time. The importat thig about a grat is that, ulike a loa, it does ot have to be paid back. If you are a full-time studet who is eligible for a Maiteace Grat the amout you receive depeds o your household icome. New studets ad most cotiuig studets, who started their courses o or after 1 September 2013, ca apply for a Maiteace Grat of up to 3,387 per year. Cotiuig studets who started their course before 1 September 2013 ca apply for a Maiteace Grat of up to 3,080 per year. 2015/16 figures are yet to be cofirmed. Studets should visit the Studet Fiace Eglad website for more details Repaymet Tuitio Fee Loas ad Maiteace Loas are rolled ito oe for repaymet purposes. You oly pay back your loa oce you ve left uiversity ad are earig over 21,000. Your mothly repaymet will be based o how much you ear, ot how much you borrowed. You will repay 9p for every poud you ear over the 21,000 repaymet threshold. So if your salary is 25,000 a year, you repay ie percet of 4,000, which works out as 30 a moth. Beig a Ambassador has made me a much more cofidet perso i social ad busiess situatios such as meetigs with potetial ivestors. As I am much more cofidet this will help i my future iterviews for jobs ad employmet. My daughter was studyig for a BTEC at Peterborough Regioal College, our eighbourig facility. I was waitig oe October at Receptio to pick her up ad started idly flickig through the Uiversity Cetre Peterborough prospectus. The Archaeology ad Ladscape History Course immediately caught my eye as a fasciatig area of study. As I was the servig with the RAF as a Itelligece Officer, attedace was ot a possibility, ot eve as a part-time studet. However, two moths later I was uexpectedly give a immediate discharge o medical grouds. After a quick look at other uiversities for compariso, icludig Cambridge, I decided to apply to Uiversity Cetre Peterborough because the Archaeology syllabus really piqued my iterest more tha ay of the others. The class sizes are such that it seems we really get cosistet oe-to-oe tuitio ad the opportuities for etworkig ad cotacts with potetial employers are superb. All studets have a realistic opportuity to have meaigful iput to the structure of courses ad social side of Uiversity life. Tutors help ad ecourage studets to atted excavatios both i the UK ad overseas.
