1 Design Consultant (Electrical Services) Design Deliverables and Responsibilities Allocation (Stage E+) 1. In addition to the information scheduled below, the pre-tender designer is responsible for: (i) Design concepts as agreed with the project team, end user and the requirements of the College 'Technical Advisory Group' during the design development stages, up to and including tender stage. (ii) Primary plant spatial fit (iii) Primary containment sizing, routing and spatial fit (iv) Initial coordination with other services to ensure that all services as designed can be accommodated within the allocated spaces. (v) In existing buildings, initial coordination with existing services and building fabric to ensure that all services as designed can be accommodated within the allocated spaces. (vi) Identifying major builders work 2. Pre-tender designer to make available all design calculations and Room Data Sheets for inclusion in tender package Target Element Presentation Information Level Scale Small Power, Fire, Security, Ancillary, plant location, lightning protection, containment Lighting and Emergency lighting Main electrical Fire alarms and security Plan Layouts Schematics 1:50 1:50 nts All outlets (small power, data, TV etc) shown and defined per room and circuited. Fire detection and fire alarm devices (including input/output modules) shown and identified. Security devices shown and identified. Earthing indicated, dist board locations shown. Lightning protection tapes shown. Lighting layouts based on preliminary selection from the Framework suppliers list, lighting control equipment, switching and circuits to be shown and defined per room. Earthing indicated, dist board locations shown. All to be co-ordinated with reflected ceiling plans where appropriate. Full distribution schematic diagrams up to and including final distribution boards. All main switchboards and sub-main cables sized. Earthing principles established. Meters shown and coordinated with metering strategy. Size of panels defined, zoning, loop arrangements, input/output interfaces. Metering strategy Services Risers Layouts, sections and elevations 1:20 & 1:10 Refer to Technical Policy Statement EN7 - 'Metering of Mechanical and Electrical Systems' Show primary electrical services distribution systems including bus bar risers (where applicable), main and sub-main cabling and primary containment, distribution boards and locations for all other control and distribution equipment. Show in sufficient detail to demonstrate that all services can be accommodated, including coordinating with other new and/or existing

Incoming services, plant locations Description and scope of works Workmanship Technical Policy Statements Plant and equipment schedules Site Plan 1:100 Specification (NES based) Major plant locations, routes to plant, electricity, telecom connections, external lighting and power, lightning protection. Description of all works, description of operations and reference to College standards. Room Data Sheets Fire alarm cause and effect strategy. (Information to be restricted to that which is applicable to the specific project) Energy and Part L statements to be included. Minimum standards identified List all used, with revisions All primary plant to be defined in terms of size, ratings, conditions etc. Example schedules are LV switchboards, UPS units, transformers, main and sub-main cables schedules, luminaires.

Attenuator positions, dampers and plenums to be indicated. Show detailed, co-ordinated layouts of all plant taking due consideration of other services, plant spacings, access and maintenance requirements. Access gantries and platforms for maintenance to be shown. All pipe work (heating/cooling, hot & cold water, drainage), including valve and bypass arrangements, key valve positions, with sizes, control and isolation valves shown, sized and scheduled. Pipe work to be shown in double line where appropriate. For key sections and other details where necessary, show pipe work and ductwork full size to scale, demonstrate fit. Show control panels. Show pipe work and ductwork full size to demonstrate fit, coordinated with electrical, show control panels, show key valve positions. Show access gantries and platforms for maintenance. Sizes of major plant defined, pipe work sizes indicated, numbers of pumps, press units, valves etc.

Show pipe work and ductwork full size to scale, to demonstrate fit. Show control panels and show key valve positions. Show in sufficient detail to demonstrate that all services can be accommodated, including coordinating with other new and/or existing services, with adequate space for maintenance. Major plant locations, routes to plant, gas, water, drain connections. Description of all works, description of operations and reference to College standards. Room Data Sheets. (Information to be restricted to that which is applicable to the specific project) Energy and Part L statements to be included. Minimum standards identified List all used, with revisions All plant to be defined in terms of size, rating, conditions etc. Example schedules to include boiler plant, chillers, AHUs, supply and extract fans, grilles, diffusers, fan boxes/coils, vrf units, radiators, control panels. M&E Consultant to appoint BEMS designer at Stage 'C'. Stage 'E' deliverables to be as set out in Technical Policy Statement EN3 - 'Building Energy Management System Standard Controls Policy Document & Procedural Guide'. Project Manager to submit the Activity Sequence Schedule as set out in EN3.
5 Contractor - Electrical Services Design Deliverables and Responsibilities Allocation 1. Contractor to provide the information/undertake information review as scheduled below, to supplement information provided by pre-tender designer. This shows a minimum requirement for the purposes of defining the design development. It is the appointed contractor s responsibility to provide in addition, all further setting out and construction details necessary for the installation of the services covered by the scope of their works. 2. In addition to the information scheduled below, the contractor is responsible for: Element Small Power, Fire, Security, Ancillary, plant location, lightning protection, containment Lighting. Emergency lighting Main electrical Fire alarms and security Presentation Plan layouts Schematics (i) Final circuit cables to be sized (ii) Primary plant spatial fit based on final plant selections and final plant layout (iii) Primary containment checked and re-sized where necessary to take account of final cable configuration (iv) Secondary containment sized to take account of final cable configuration and routing (v) Final co-ordination with other services to ensure that all services as designed can be accommodated within the allocated spaces. (vi) In existing buildings, final co-ordination with existing services and building fabric to ensure that all services as designed can be accommodated within the allocated spaces. (vi) Distribution boards sized to include 25% future spare capacity Target Information Level Scale 1:50 As defined above 1:50 nts As defined above and including the following: Lighting and emergency lighting layouts to be reviewed based on final luminaries selection using Framework suppliers, including coordinating with reflected ceiling plans. Lighting control equipment, switching and circuits to be finalised. As defined above and including the following: Final distribution schematic diagrams up to and including sizing final distribution boards. All main switchboards and sub-main cables sizes reviewed to take account of final cable configuration and routing. Earthing details finalised. Meters shown and co-ordinated with metering strategy. Final size of panels defined, zoning, loop arrangements, input/output interfaces.

Any proposed amendments to pre-tender design and additional information where necessary Minimum standards identified Confirm that all works are in accordance with College Technical Policy Statements All plant to be defined in terms of size, ratings, conditions etc.

(v) In existing buildings, final coordination with existing services and building fabric to ensure that all services as designed can be accommodated within the allocated spaces. Target Information Level Scale 1:50 & 1:20 1:50 & 1:20 nts As defined above and including the following: Coordinated layouts to be produced to prevent clashes and to highlight points of access to plant, valves, dampers etc. Local co-ordination to be carried out i.e. ensuring that no clashes occur within labs/rooms with rads/socket outlets etc. Expansion devices to be shown. As defined above and including the following: Show detailed, co-ordinated plans and sections of final plant layouts taking due consideration of other services, plant spacing, access and maintenance requirements. Access gantries and platforms for maintenance to be shown and detailed. All pipe work (heating/cooling, hot & cold water, drainage), including valve and bypass arrangements to be shown. All valves sized and scheduled. Pipe work to be shown in double line where appropriate. For key sections and other details where necessary, show pipe work and ductwork full size to demonstrate fit. Show control panels. Coordinated sections through ceiling voids and heavily services areas to be produced to prevent clashes. Schematic layouts showing final pipe and duct sizes and all flow-rates and air volumes. (See (i) above) Schematic layouts showing all final pipe sizes and flowrates. (See (i) above)
