PROJECT DESIGN DELIVERABLES SEQUENCE (PDD)
INTRODUCTION There are several reasons which lead to delay in project completion, out of all, one main reason is delay in deliverable processing i.e., submission & review documents. Most of the project cycles start with a list of deliverables but without a sequence of submission of the same, means without a direction to move, leading to overlapping of activities and more interdependences. Submittals are documents that must accompany items being sent, such as sample materials, plans, drawings, documents etc. Submittals typically require a response from the recipient, so it is necessary to organize and track when, and whether a response has been received. Hence Project Design Deliverables (PDD) is developed as a solution to Organize Transmittals (Documents/Drawings) received from contractors/consultants during different phases of an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects, which gives proper direction to the stakeholders from the beginning, to reduce inter discipline dependency, avoid overlapping of activities, provide a list of deliverables, sequence of activities etc... PDD attempts to provide a list and sequencing of the engineering documents/ drawings required during different phases of a Project which will benefit both client and Contractor in performing planned activities through timely submission & review of deliverables. This helps in ensuring improved quality and completion of Project in time. The successful implementation begins with a detailed understanding the specific challenges and requirements of the project.
INTRODUCTION The PDD will cover the contractor transmittal submission sequence for the following types of project Pipeline projects, Tankage projects, Building projects, Substation projects, Pressure Vessels (Separators, Heaters) projects, Fire and Gas System projects, DCS & ESD Modification Works projects, CCTV Projects, Fencing projects, Fire water System projects, Flare Projects, Air Compressor system projects
AIM This document attempts to provide a list and sequencing the engineering documents/ drawings required during different phases of a Project. This document can benefit both the Company and the Contractor in performing planned EPC activities through timely submission & review of deliverables in order to ensure improved quality and completion of Project in time.
AIM Following are some of the benefits of this document:- Implementation of this list & sequence of submission, as applicable, during Contract stage to Post-award stage up to Project Program of Schedule Stage, as minimum requirements. Submission of deliverables during detailed engineering, Procurement and Construction phases in proper sequence will enable the Company for a proper review resulting in saving time. Monitoring the timely submission & review of the deliverables from the early stages of Project. Responsibility and Accountability (Company & Contractor). Training of new Engineers about the significance of Engineering, Procurement & Construction deliverables in a Project and their proper sequence of preparation.

IMPLEMENTATION During the Sequencing process we identify the document relationship among the different discipline documents. These documents are wellarranged based on their logical relationships. Most of them are linked to at least one predecessor and one successor. SEQUENCING FUNDAMENTALS WE ASSUME FOR PREPARATION. Sequencing can be stuck-up by P&ID, Layouts, load details etc. Necessary Vendor Dependencies Optional Dependencies External Dependencies
IMPLEMENTATION DOCUMENT SEQUENCING TECHNIQUES During the implementation we illustrate in details the dependent relationships among all project documents and, consequently, the order is being generated in our software for the predecessor and the successor document. Physical appearance of the of the Software Page Contains: Sl. No Type of Projects like pipeline, Tankage etc. Discipline Selections like Electrical, Civil, and Process etc. Independent /Depended Documents Selection Drawings / Documents are displayed with the sequence of their submission. An indication from one document to another means that the successor document cannot start until the predecessor document is complete. If the document has more than one predecessor, it cannot start until all predecessors are complete. If the predecessor document is completed, the page will automatically direct to the successor document.
SUMMARY In our experience, we have found that the implementation of Project Design Deliverable checklist helps to monitor the submissions of Project documents and their accomplishment in a timely manner without causing any intersections and delays. Document sequencing process guides to identify the documenting relationship among the Project documents. Submission of Project documents shall always base on their logical relationships. For the successful completion of a project, Contractor must be well aware of all the document submission activities and their sequence of
