REXA DESIGN S UNICO BATHTUBS AT THE MAMILLA HOTEL IN JERUSALEM AND THE CONSERVATORIUM HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM, DESIGNED BY PIERO LISSONI Two new and exclusive, recently inaugurated international Hotels have entrusted Piero Lissoni, one of the most celebrated Italian designers and architects in the world, with handling the interior design and renovation of their premises. Lissoni chose Rexa Design for the bathrooms in these two Luxury Hotels: two hundred Unico bathtubs for the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem and eighty Unico bathtubs for the Conservatorium in Amsterdam. The Unico bathtub/shower system is an innovative bathroom solution patented by Rexa Design that makes it possible, in just a few, simple steps, to transform a large shower into a spacious bathtub, combining perfection with comfort, beauty and design. THE MAMILLA HOTEL IN JERUSALEM Two hundred Rexa Design Corian Unico bathtubs (180 x 85 cm) have been used to furnish the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem, one of the most prestigious and elegant accommodation structures to be built in recent years. The Alrov Mamilla Hotel and Spa in the heart of Jerusalem is the brainwave of Piero Lissoni and Moshe Safdie. The Mamilla Hotel is an extraordinary place characterized by both style and exclusivity. The contemporary interior design, created by Piero Lissoni, combines elegance and simplicity with scintillating lighting, intense textures and warm colors to stimulate the imagination. In the lobby, the two parts of the hotel are joined together by a steel plate stairway: one section has been newly built and the other rebuilt using stones found on site. Behind the reception is an impressive wall made of local stone which has also been used for the walls in the living room that are decorated with ancient objects from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Milan. All the rooms have natural wood floors, Jerusalem stone walls, dark metal headboards and transparent white curtains. The liquid crystal walls in the bathrooms become opaque at the touch of a switch, concealing luxurious bathroom areas with waterfall showers and separate shower cubicles.
THE CONSERVATORIUM HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM Piero Lissoni has also chosen Rexa Design s Unico bathtubs for the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, a luxurious hotel that stands on the site of the former Sweelinck academy of music. The building, that was originally built at the end of the 19 th century by the famous Dutch architect Daniel Knüttel, has been elegantly renovated with a sophisticated blend of antique charm and contemporary design, a stunning contrast between classic and modern styles. A total of eighty Unico Corian bathtubs (180 85 cm) have been used. The hotel is located in the Amsterdam museum and fashion district and welcomes its guests in the theater courtyard, covered entirely in glass, one of the most unique and distinctive touches of the structure. It s almost like Dracula s castle, Lissoni says. The atmosphere inside is quite dark and I tried to respect this darkness. However, I made the interior completely modern, without any level of compromise. The Hotel features 129 luxurious rooms, all decorated differently with design elements, as well as meeting spaces, spa wellness areas, restaurants and bars. Engaging atmospheres are created through music that changes between the different Hotel environments, through eclectic repertoire able to create memories and emotions, connecting the building's past with its present.
REXA DESIGN S UNICO SHOWER/BATHTUB SYSTEM Always at the cutting edge in the search for innovative solutions for bathrooms and living areas, Rexa Design has developed the Unico Shower/Bathtub System (Unico (design Imago Design). This is a patented system that makes it possible to easily transform a large shower into a spacious bathtub, whilst still using the same amount of space. The bathtub can be either recessed or placed above the floor with a convenient step. The slats can be removed with just a few, simple movements, transforming the shower into a bathtub, or vice versa. The slats can be placed in the wall paneling which can become a practical towel rail, or inside the bathtub step provided for the free standing model. The slat holder step can also be used for storing various items. The shower tray consists of non-slip layered slats.
