CMS 3 - Cell Model Systems Summer School http://www.cms3.cnr.it June 16 to 20, 2014 Objectives New Facilitate an effective sharing and dissemination of new and innovative research ideas, strategies, focal points on cell model systems to promote genomic research and bioinformatics that are starting points for instance of the system biology and future research in this field. Promote communication between scientists and allow a network development between scientists and students from several world countries. A new project in Italy for the envisaged mixing of theoretical and practical approaches. No other schools are present in Europe on this specific topic. Competition Make top level equipment and instrumentation available to a wide interdisciplinary community at European and international level. First summer school with theoretical lectures and practical exercises during the 5 days course. First summer school with an interdisciplinary character in comparison to others at one topic (e.g., Bioinformatica University of Bologna, Genomic vegetal European Networking Summer School). Follow-up Training of young international post-docs in multidiscipline: physic, engineering, chemistry, biology, medicine, mathematics. Developing of new small and medium enterprises at biotechnological level in medicine and biology. The presence of industrial players and scientists with close links to companies will stimulate possible actions to accelerate the mandatory transition from laboratory to the market. Results of previous editions (8-13 June, 2008 / 7-12 June, 2009 / 6-11 June, 2010/ 5-10 June, 2011 / 11-15 June, 2012) 30000 visitors of the web-site from 27/11/07 to 16/09/13 82 young researchers (average age 27) have been selected to partecipate from different countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Hungary, germany, Jordan, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Morocco, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Swiss, Tunisian Republic, Turkey, United Kingdom. 15 outstanding scientists have been invited to come over for the lectures and discuss their work from different countries: France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Spain, Switzerland, United States. We have set a very high standard regarding the choice of speakers. Thus, the invited speakers had an excellent scientific calibre, an exceptional track record and were able to stimulate a wide audience. Interested students have had the opportunity to interact with speakers in a full time appointments, during the lessons and afterwards at the accommodation provided at the hotel close to the summer school. The students and teachers were able to follow-up on the lessons by participating in dedicated on-line forums, on the school's web-site. 12 scientists of the Tor Vergata Research Establishment-CNR have imparted practical exercises at laboratories on optical and electronic microscopy, Ultra- Vacuum, microsystems and microelectronics, techniques in model membrane, bioinformatics. In order not to limit this knowledge to the circle of participants of the summer school, a compendium book has been published by NOVA Publisher of New York containing all lectures, FAQs, detailed experimental instructions, computer exercises (bioinformatics). ISBN 978-1-60692-906-3 The school is certified as UNI EN ISO 9001:2000. The management has respected the standard procedure and quality of international level. 2/5
