audition procedure for bachelor of science in music (worship) and worship leadership minor degrees 3 Students accepted into Oral Roberts University and interested in getting a major or minor in Worship Leadership are required to pass an audition, interview and placement exam held the first week of classes. To sign up for the audition, please contact the Music Department at 918.495.7500 or e-mail music@oru.edu. Specifics concerning the musical audition are listed below. The individuals auditioning must play piano or guitar and sing a worship song selection of their choice. If the student feels uncomfortable accompanying himself or herself, that student may also audition acapella. Students who audition as a vocalist only must demonstrate their present musical proficiency on either piano or guitar. This will assist the audition committee to properly place each student in appropriate classes to help develop those skills. A piano/keyboard will be provided at the audition. Guitarists must bring their own equipment/instrument. Acoustic guitar is preferred. An interview will be held at the time of the music audition. Each individual should be prepared to share about his or her religious background, musical training, experience and future goals and aspirations. The fundamental theory placement exam will be given the same day as auditions. If an individual does not pass this exam, he or she will be required to enroll in Fundamentals of Music Theory.
