MasterPass by MasterCard is the new simple, convenient way for consumers to pay online supported by the multi-tiered security of the MasterCard network in partnership with their own bank. It's the perfect combination of safety and convenience. With MasterPass, your customers card, billing and shipping information can be stored safely by their bank in an online wallet. This means they can now shop with confidence and you can convert browsers into buyers when checking out with MasterPass. What are the benefits of MasterPass? The benefits of MasterPass to your business are many: 1. Provide your customers with a convenient, simple and trusted way to pay Give your customers access to all their shipping, payment and loyalty information in one location via a service brought to them by their bank and MasterCard Help you drive increased sales conversion and revenue Offer a consistent customer experience for your customers across all online checkout channels phones, apps, tablets, PCs Accept payment from any MasterPass-enabled bank wallet with just one checkout button 2. What is the customer experience when my consumer clicks on Buy with MasterPass? When your customer shops with MasterPass, it integrates into your checkout experience and is as simple as: 1. Shop and place items in the shopping cart 2. Click on Buy with MasterPass presented on your checkout process with other payment options 3. Sign in to their bank wallet your customer will interface with their online wallet without having to leave your checkout page. 4. Confirm their payment and shipping information and checkout Can my customers still checkout with MasterPass even if they haven t yet set-up their online wallet? Yes but your customers will still need to register or activate your bank s online wallet before they can complete their purchase. 1. When your customers click on Buy with MasterPass, they will be prompted to select their bank wallet from the list of available MasterPass-connected wallets. 2. They will then be redirected to their bank s site to complete the registration or activation process including adding your payment card and shipping details. 3. Once this has been completed, they will be returned to your checkout page to complete their purchase. Can my customers checkout via MasterPass across all my online shopping channels? Yes, MasterPass enables a fast, easy and convenient checkout experience across all your online shopping channels (PCs, tablets, mobile sites and apps). What payment cards can be used with MasterPass? When your customers checkout with MasterPass you can pay with their credit, debit, or prepaid cards from MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover and Visa. However, the payment card types you accept today will be reflected in your customers online wallets e.g. if you do not accept American Express cards, that card type will not be available for your customers to use.
What currencies are supported through MasterPass? MasterPass will allow your consumers to transact using any currencies that you support. I allow shipment of my goods to multiple countries and to various types of addresses. Will this still be supported by MasterPass? Items purchased via MasterPass can be shipped anywhere you currently ship your goods and to addresses you currently allow as per your shipping policy. How does MasterPass handle consumers CVC/CVV2 information? In accordance with PCI rules, CVC/CVV2 data is not stored by MasterPass. Are there any fees or charges for shopping with MasterPass? No, there are no fees or charges for you, or your customers, when your customers checkout using MasterPass. But remember, the payment card your customers select to use may have fees and charges applicable. Am I locked into a contract if I implement MasterPass as a checkout option? No, you may cancel your Merchant Account at any time, without penalty or fee. In order to implement MasterPass, a Merchant Account is must first be created. Are there any requirements I need to meet in order to offer MasterPass as an option to my customers? Yes, in order to offer MasterPass to your customers as a checkout option you must meet the following requirements: 1. You must accept MasterCard branded payment cards 2. You must enable online purchases through your online channels (website, mobile site, app) 3. You must adhere to the MasterCard rules
Implementing MasterPass I want to implement MasterPass. What do I need to do? Please contact your payment service or e-commerce provider and they will facilitate the implementation of MasterPass. Don t have a provider or can t remember who they are? Please contact us for assistance. Your provider may have already enabled MasterPass. If this is the case the integration work has already been done for you all you have to do is ask them to enable MasterPass as a checkout option for your business. Alternatively you can begin implementation immediately. Enabling MasterPass as a checkout option is straightforward. 1. Click here to create your Merchant Account 2. Sign into your Merchant Account and click on Developers Option. 3. Click the Add a Developer button which will launch a wizard to assist you with the next step. 4. Depending on your decision on of who will be fulfilling the required software development effort required for implementation, select one of the following options: a. A third party platform provider choose this option if you use a service provider such as a shopping cart provider or e-commerce payment gateway to manage your checkout experience. b. An internal or contracted developer choose this option if you have an in-house or thirdparty software developer to manage your checkout experience. c. I am a software developer choose this option if you know how to develop software code and manage your own checkout experience. d. I m not sure choose this option if you are not sure which option to choose but have a business colleague who knows this information. You will be able to invite them as an administrator for your account and give them access to invite developers and review their work. Please note, if the implementation is performed by anyone other than yourself, you will be given the opportunity to review and approve their work prior to deployment on your checkout page.
How long will it take for my provider to implement MasterPass on my checkout page? Please consult your provider for guidance on how long it will take them to enable MasterPass as a checkout option for your business. Which payment and e-commerce providers currently support MasterPass? MasterPass is supported by a continuously growing list of providers. Please see the drop down menu on mastercard.com.au/shopwithmasterpass > merchants, for a list of MasterPass-enabled providers. My payment or ecommerce provider is not on your list of MasterPass-enabled providers. What should I do? We are actively working with third-party payment and ecommerce providers to enable them to make MasterPass available to their merchants. To help speed up the addition of the your provider to this list, please contact us with your provider s details. What is a third party platform provider? A third party platform provider is an e-commerce service provider that develops and operates the technical systems that enable your website and/or mobile apps to conduct online transactions. The other services they may provide include web hosting, shopping carts, mobile website/mobile app development and payment processing. If you work with a provider that already enables MasterPass, the integration work has already been done for you all you have to do is ask them to enable MasterPass as a checkout option for your business. Managing your MasterPass What is a Merchant Account? A Merchant Account is a secure account that allows you to implement MasterPass, houses MasterPass Implementation Guides, Product Information and Terms and Conditions. You will need to create your Merchant Account before you can implement MasterPass. To log in to your Merchant Account you will need your UserID and Password, which you nominate when you create your account. What actions can I undertake once I create my Merchant Account? When you log into your Merchant Account, you can: Create and update your Merchant profile, including your login details Access MasterPass product information, terms and conditions and implementation guides Set up and manage shipping destinations for MasterPass transactions in line with your business shipping policy Status updates Select developers to implement and integrate MasterPass on your behalf, and manage their approval of their work You can transfer the role of overseeing any MasterPass implementation or upgrades to an administrator within your business Disable MasterPass as a checkout option for a specific channel. How do I disable MasterPass from my checkout page? If you no longer wish to offer MasterPass as an option for a specific channel, simply sign into your Merchant Account and select the channel from which you wish to remove MasterPass, or contact your developer should you have one.
