General information about Turkey Official language: Turkish Currency and exchange rate: Turkish Lira (TL). 1 EURO = approximately 2.18 TL US$1 = approximately 1.56 TL You can change money from airport, hotel, currency exchange offices and the banks. The exchange rates in the banks are mostly higher, so it is better to change money from exchange offices. The hotel uses the exchange rate from Central Bank of Turkish Republic and adds approximately 2% to this rate. For central bank of Turkish Republic daily exchange rates check: http://www.tcmb.gov.tr/kurlar/kur2009.html In order to pay for transportation to the hotel from the airport, it may be better to change some amount of money at the airport exchange office. Arriving in Istanbul

Going to the Movenpick Istanbul Hotel For transportation information from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Movenpick Istanbul Hotel please check http://www.ataturkairport.com/eng/2.php Some Transportation options: 1. At the exit of Istanbul Ataturk Airport you can find taxis that will bring you to the hotel for about 25-30 Euros. The Istanbul Atatürk Airport is located in Yeşilköy, in the European side of Istanbul. Airports distance is 28 km to the Movenpick Istanbul Hotel. Please note that the taxi rates are 50% higher between 00.00 and 06:00 am. 2. You can take Havas Bus for TAKSIM at the exit of Istanbul Ataturk Airport. The fee is 10 Turkish Liras. When you arrive Taksim, you can take a taxi to the hotel or take metro from Taksim station to 4. Levent station. 4. Levent station is in front of Movenpick Istanbul Hotel. Marmaray Site Visit Sunday 5 th July 2009 On Sunday the bus will pick you up from the Movenpick Hotel. You should be in the lobby of the hotel at 8:00 am. The departure time has to be this early because there is seismic strengthening work going on at the bridge we will cross on our way and we have to be on site no later than 9.30 am. Technical tour plan is to visit three sites of Marmaray. (For technical details please check http://www.marmaray.com/ ) 1. Visit to starting point of bored tunnels at Ayrilikcesme, Kadikoy, see Photo 1. 2. Visit to immersed tube tunnel near Uskudar Maiden s Tower, see Photo 2. 3. Visit to Uskudar Station site, see Photo 3. Mr. Ozturk OZGUR, (Civil Engineer, Taisei Corporation, Project Design Division) will accompany us during the site visit and give the technical details. The Marmaray site visit will end around 1.00 pm. Lunch boxes will be provided in the bus.

Sightseeing Tour Sunday, 5 th July 2009 The bus will pick the participants from Marmaray site and bring to Old City, Sultanahmet Square. A half day tour will be held with a professional guide. Haghia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Hippodrome and Grand Bazaar are planned to be visit. Places to be visited may change according to our arrival time to Sultanahmet Square. You can see interesting shows and wonderful night view there, and it costs about 42 Euros per person. The dinner starts at 8.00 pm. Going to the ITU Campus On Monday 6 July, 2009 we will meet at the lobby of the Movenpick Hotel at 9:00 am. We will arrange with the concierge the easier transportation to the ITU Campus; preferably we will share taxis to reach the venue. Subway information The underground station at ITU Campus is newly opened to service so the schedule of trains is limited. Therefore, we may not use the subway this time. For your information, the first train from the 4. Levent station (in front of the hotel) to ITU Campus departs at 9.30 am and the last train from ITU Campus station to 4. Levent station departs at 5.00 pm. There are also trains every 11 minutes between these two stations.

ITU Campus The workshop will be held at the Civil Engineering Faculty Building. The workshop venue is marked with "A" and a small white arrow in the map. You will be using the road coming from Zincirlikuyu direction while you will be arriving from Movenpick Istanbul Hotel and city centers as Taksim, Besiktas etc.

Boat Tour Tuesday, 7 th July 2009 In the evening of Tuesday, 7 July, after the closed IPRED meeting, see the program, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality kindly invites the participants to the Bosporus boat tour. There will be a cocktail on the boat; later on dinner will be served. Participants will be picked from ITU Campus by bus and taken to Istinye to go on board. The boat will cruise around European and Asian coasts to give you a pleasant and unforgettable Bosphorus Experience. The boat tour will end at 12.00 am and the participants will be taken to Movenpick Hotel by bus.
