Components of the Succession Internet-enabled Solutions for Meridian Key elements of the Succession Internet-enabled Solutions for Meridian Internet Telephony Gateways LAN (line-side) WAN (trunk-side) Wireless Internet Telephone Desktop Solutions i2004 Internet Telephones i2050 Software Phones IP Adapters Remote Office Solutions Branch office Teleworkers Option 11C and Option 11C Mini IP Expansion Advanced Applications Unified Messaging Customer Care IP Call Centre Management Why IP-enable your Meridian? Built-in reliability Simplified network management e-business solutions enabled Feature-rich telephony Industry-leading IP-based applications and devices Open standards-based platform Consolidation of leased services Dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring and transitioning Savings with International toll by-pass Infrastructure cost savings Internet Telephony Gateways With todays widespread deployment of IP networks, companies are finding new ways to maximise their investments by converging their voice and data network infrastructures. IP Telephony technology allows networks to transport voice and data traffic over the same network, leveraging your communications investment. Internet Telephony Gateways allow you to incrementally Internet-enable your Meridian PBX with an integrated solution for high-quality voice transmission over an IP network on the line side and trunk side of your existing circuit-switched infrastructure. The fully integrated Wireless Internet Telephony Gateway provides Internet-enabled voice and data communication solutions for the wireless local area network. Line-side Gateways With the Internet Telephony Gateway Line-side solution, users gain access to robust IP Telephony desktop devices such as the i2004 Internet Telephone and the i2050 Software Phone. Line-side gateways provide the benefits offered by the data network (such as flexibility and simplified system management), with desktop solutions that reduce infrastructure costs. The Meridian SL-100 Integrated Gateway provides carrier-grade reliability and scalability to large enterprise customers. Trunk-side Gateway Internet Telephony Gateway Trunk-side solutions allow use of IP wide area network routes for voice between Meridian 1 systems. With trunk-side gateways, you can consolidate network facilities and reduce costs by using your data network for telephony where and when it makes sense. Your existing Meridian investment is protected because your users continue to use their existing telephones and applications, including automatic route selection to the IP route. Quality of Service, (QoS) is protected because the gateways monitor latency and packet loss on the network and revert to a circuit-switched connection as necessary to ensure the highest quality telephony experience. The migration to IP telephony is transparent to the user, no change in dialing sequence or feature operation occurs. Wireless IP Gateway The 802.11 Wireless Gateway for the Succession Internet Telephony portfolio expands the benefits of mobility by empowering employees with integrated voice and data applications and devices for use anywhere, anytime in your organisation.

Maximising your Investment Internet Telephony Desktop Solutions Nortel Networks desktop solutions include a broad portfolio of terminals and applications that deliver quality features and services. These devices not only expand the breadth of Nortel Networks switched circuit platforms but also expand into the Internet Telephony infrastructure. Choosing to migrate your Meridian 1 or Meridian SL-100 systems to an Internet-enabled platform means that your desktop investment is retained. The new Internet telephones join the desktop portfolio that also includes full-featured digital telephones with and without displays, specially designed call centre telephones, attendant consoles, attendant software clients, and a variety of accessories. This portfolio is designed to meet diverse customer needs and enrich people-to-people communications in the high performance Internet architecture. Client Applications Unified Messaging PBX 802.11 Wireless Gateway IP Telephones Remote Office Solutions Digital Phones i2004 Internet Telephone Conducting real-time business communications in an Internet-enabled world requires a client device that provides the familiarity and ease of use of a traditional telephone, yet capitalises on new values introduced by the convergence of voice and data at the desktop. Nortel Networks i2004 Internet Telephone delivers traditional business communications functionality and value, in a platform. The i2004 Internet Telephone directly connects to the LAN, allowing customers to capitalise on the economies of a simplified wiring system within the enterprise. Users are provided the familiar features and services they require, and the enterprise can balance needs for user functionality with the benefits, flexibility and the economies of their data network. i2050 Software Phone The i2050 Software Telephone delivers all the features of the i2004 Internet Telephone in the form of a feature-rich IP telephony software application. It delivers high quality integrated voice and data communications to local or remote IP users via their PC or laptop and a Universal Serial Bus (USB) headset. IP Adapters IP Adapters are an important component of the Succession Internet-enabled Solutions for Meridian. IP Adapters allow you to take advantage of your LAN for distributing your digital telephone. These adapters can easily snap-in to your Meridian digital telephone, which allows you to maintain your investment in telephone equipment, as you migrate to IP telephony.

flexible product uses the customer's IP WAN, and can also use ISDN BRI connections to support a high quality voice connection between a remote site and the host. It will even detect declining QoS on the IP connection and dynamically transition to the circuitswitched network to optimise voice quality, a critical feature for customer service applications where customer interaction must not be compromised. Remote Office 9110 and 9115 The same dynamic transitioning capability of the Remote Office 9150 is delivered to individual users with Remote Office 9110 and 9115. Remote users such as teleworkers can access the corporate network for delivery of the complete suite of Meridian telephony features and applications, including their corporate dialing plans, as if they are located in the corporate office. Meridian 1 Option 11C and Option 11C Mini IP Expansion The newest IP solution for the Meridian 1 Option 11C and 11C Mini is our IP Expansion Option. The Option 11C and 11C Mini can be combined in any configuration, allowing you to add capacity and new capabilities in a 19 rack-mount chassis, or regular wall mount cabinets. Its the easiest way to migrate your users safely and gradually to voice-over IP, using your managed LAN. Remote Office Solutions Extending Meridian services to branch offices and remote users is optimised through Nortel Networks IP-enabled Remote Office Solutions. The Remote Office portfolio cost-effectively enables IP telephony for any Meridian system with Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) shelves regardless of the software release. Remote Office 9150 Remote Office 9150 uses the enterprise IP network to deliver Meridian telephony features from a "host" Meridian 1 or Meridian SL-100 system to Remote Offices with up to 32 users. This highly IP Expansion Cabinets and Chassis With IP Expansion, T1/E1 digital trunks can operate in the expansion cabinet, and your Option 11C or Option 11C Mini can operate as a standalone unit. Power outage at your main location? No problem. The expansion system carries on alone. Why? Because it has its own small system controller, so all voice and data communications continue uninterrupted. IP Expansion can be deployed on 100 Base-T or 100 Base-F connections, and can be connected point-to-point, or over a Layer 2/3 LAN. Off-the-shelf media converter boxes allow expansion cabinets to be located at distances up to 20 miles from the main cabinet.
