Contents Installation variations Single seat (standalone) Centralized network installation (network server) Centralized network installation with Query Client Virtualization (Citrix) Cluster servers
Single seat (standalone)
Single seat (standalone) Single seat installation on each workstation License generated for each workstation (dongle, software) Access to PACS via mediqr from each workstation A separate prosthesis database is installed on each workstation. Suitable for less than three workstations
Single seat (standalone) Advantages: Each workstation is independent Guaranteed license availability Disadvantages: Each workstation with mediqr must be stored in PACS. No centralized updates (PV and software) No centralized administration No centralized license management
Centralized network (network server) Variation 1
Centralized network (network server) Server: Installation as network server variation Only the license server service must be installed. Clients: Installation as network server variation Set reference (LSHOST) to IP/hostname of license server
Centralized network (network server) Advantages: Centralized license management medicad may be installed on as many workstations as desired. Disadvantages: Each workstation with mediqr must be stored in PACS. No centralized updates (PV and software) No centralized administration If the license server goes down, medicad/aot call will fail.
Centralized network (network server) Variation 2
Centralized network (network server) Server: Installation as network server variation All components are installed Installation directory is enabled in the network (optional) Server mediqr configured as a service for centralized PACS queries.
Centralized network (network server) Clients: Installation of a minimal setup by way of server installation (via enabled server)
Centralized network (network server) Advantages: Centralized administration Centralized updates (PV and software) Centralized license management medicad may be installed on as many workstations as desired. Centralized PACS queries through mediqr possible only with an AET
Centralized network (network server) Disadvantages: If a server goes down, medicad call will fail NTFS and NFS authorizations must be observed (may cause problems under some conditions).
Centralized network (Query Client)
Centralized network (Query Client) Server medicad network server installation (enabled) SQL server installation for user management Query Client server and client installation HectecService performs exchange of data with PACS and optionally with Worklist. Query Client application deployed with Web server
Centralized network (Query Client) Client Software installed via browser call (ClickOnce deployment)
Centralized network (Query Client) Advantages Centralized management of DICOM nodes User management with access authorizations Centralized service takes over PACS communication Straightforward software distribution Optional Worklist connection for order-based tasks
Centralized network (Query Client) Disadvantages: If a server goes down, medicad call will fail NTFS and NFS authorizations must be observed (may cause problems under some conditions).
Virtualization Possible with all installation variations Software license is required medicad may also be installed under Citrix
Cluster servers Application server and license server may run in a cluster License servers must be installed multiple times for redundancy Network licenses must be installed multiple times for redundancy
