Problems with Host On-Demand Host On-Demand If you can connect to the Internet, but Host On-Demand will not launch, there are several things to do before calling the NSB Helpdesk for assistance: Ask others in the office if they are also experiencing a problem accessing Host On-Demand. If others can access the Internet but cannot access Host-On Demand, contact the NSB Helpdesk for assistance. If others can access Host On-Demand, but you cannot: Type in the main ITS Host On-Demand website address: http://3270.its.state.nc.us or (if that doesn t get you there) go to http://middleware.its.state.nc.us/middleware/hod/hodhomeblue.jsp Press the ENTER key. Add this website to favorites: (http://middleware.its.state.nc.us/middleware/hod/hodhomeblue.jsp) Pull the Favorites menu down to Add To Favorites Choose a folder to add the favorite to and/or Click OK 9

Be patient while HOD detects the level of Java support on the system. When the IBM WebSphere Host On-Demand website appears, the mainframe application logon screen should automatically load. If the CICS logon screen does not come up: Double click on the 3270 TLS Display monitor icon displayed under the Host On-Demand Client tab. Ignore the FTP/sftp (FTPTLS) icon. User Note Host On-Demand no longer supports the following operating systems: Windows 98 Windows Millennium Edition(ME) Windows NT 4.0 with SP6 or later 11
Add this website (http://scc.its.state.nc.us/hod/dl3270n.html?javatype=java2&obplet=applet) to favorites as well. The mainframe application logon screen will not automatically pop up the very first time you install 3270 TLS Display. To enable the mainframe application logon screen to come up automatically: Right-click the 3270 TSL Display icon. Select Properties from the menu. 12
Locate Preferences on the TSL Display menu. Click on Start Options. Click the Yes radio button next to Start Automatically. Click the OK button. The next time Host On-Demand is launched, the mainframe application logon screen should automatically come up. 13
If the mainframe application logon screen still does not come up: Make sure that Java support is enabled in the browser Pull the Tools menu down to Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab Scroll down the list and look for Java (SUN) If the Java (Sun) plug-in appears in the list but is not enabled Click a checkmark in the box next to Use Java v2... Click the OK button. If the Java plug-in is not installed in the browser call the Local IT support OR-: Go to the main ITS Host On-Demand website at http://3270.its.state.nc.us/ Click on FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) near the top of the screen. 14
User Note Java 6 Update 6 does not work with Host On-Demand. Look for the instructions under number 7 (seven) for installing the most current Java Runtime Environment plug-in. 15
Go to the http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html website (or whatever the most up to date version might be). Scroll down to J2SE v 1.4.2_07 JRE includes the JVM technology Click on Download Windows J2SE JRE Go back to the Tools menu and select Internet Options, Advanced tab, and verify that Java (SUN) is enabled. Refer to the instructions above. 16
If you still cannot get into Host On-Demand, but everyone else can, contact the Local IT support for assistance with the PC, internet or network setup. You may not have the administrative rights necessary for updating Java software or there may be some other issue to troubleshoot. View Settings for Host On-Demand When working in CICSNC25, HSIS and Host On-Demand, it is important to remember to exit from these systems by the correct steps. Press the <F2> key to back out of any issuance or participant record Press the <F1> key to back out of HSIS Press the <Pause/Break> key or the <Esc> key on the keyboard and type the word logoff to properly exit out of CICSNC25. In order to properly exit out of Host On-Demand after you have properly exited out of HSIS and CICSNC25, press the Save and Exit button on the mainframe application logon screen in the TLS Display window. If there is not a save and exit button at the top of the TLS display window, configure the view in Host On-Demand. To properly configure the views in Host On-Demand: Pull the View menu down in the TLS Display window. Select Toolbar Select Toolbar Text Select Status Bar Deselect Keypad 17
Click the Save and Exit button to exit TLS Display and save the View changes. Keyboard Settings for Host On-Demand If an incorrect key is pressed when working in HSIS, a Red X and a man-shaped symbol will appear on the bottom left corner of the screen. The user is temporarily locked out of the screen until this symbol is cleared. 18
To adjust the keyboard settings in HOD On-Demand: Pull the Edit menu down to Preferences Select Keyboard On the Keyboard File Options window, look for the Key Assignment tab Pull the down arrow next to Category and select Host Functions 19
Scroll down until you find the Reset category Highlight Reset Click on the Assign a Key button in the window 20
Press the <Ctrl> key on the keyboard one time only Click Save Click OK. The next time the HSIS screen locks up and displays the Red X and accompanying symbol, press the <Ctrl> key on the keyboard to release the screen. 21
