5 1 Key References: Subway and RailWays 1.1 Metro Of Paris UNDERGROUND - FRANCE Digital Video Surveillance over ATM network for the Paris underground and express train. 8000 cameras distributed across 400 stations - Unique ATM network infrastructure for data services, telephony and video surveillance - Fully video distributed system architecture - Very sophisticated monitoring system including three levels of surveillance - Station level - Connection level federating stations - PC2000 central level for critical situations - Intensive use of the integrated audio features o Embedded digital video processing applications o VisioWave Evolution 16/28 over ATM 155Mbps network o High density recording (all cameras during 72 hours) o Very low latency video (less than 400ms) o Events and alarms management o Integration with existing security systems and control centers o Interfaces with traditional security keyboards o Compatibility with all existing analog cameras 1.2 Metro of Lille, FRANCE Lille is the largest city in the north of France. With one of the highest density of inhabitants in France, the Lille area benefits from a very efficient public transportation infrastructure, including two metro lines. VisioWave has been selected over several other digital video surveillance system providers to equip the 61 stations of the metro network. This is the consequence of the well known reliability of its equipements as well as the high quality of the images delivered both in real time and from recorded files. The VisioWave Video operating Systems enables the Lille Metro security department to distribute multiple, highquality video streams over a fiber Gigabit Ethernet IP network. With the web based Security Center, any camera can be viewed from any point of the network, using an analog video device or a standard PC. Video surveillance and traffic control 1241 cameras (fixed and mobile) 1241 analog and digital outputs, with PC based management 77 VisioWave Evolution (8 and 28) Digital Video Equipments Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Network
6 GE Security VisioWave Product Line Competitive advantages for transportation 1.3 GIF (GESTOR DE INFRAESTRUCTURAS FERROVIARIAS) - SPAIN GIF made the decision to deploy a new digital video surveillance system on the Madrid-Barcelona high speed line to improve security in the stations and on the railway tracks. GIF is a department part of the Spanish Development Ministry. Its responsibility is to construct and when relevant, to manage new or leverage existing railways infrastructures, which includes the regulation of trains' circulation, the maintenance of infrastructures, the management of security systems and the exploitation of electric facilities and associated communication structures. o 859 cameras for rail tracks and stations (fixed, mobile, indoor and outdoor) o 48 monitors dispatched in 5 control rooms o 42 VisioWave EVOLUTION 28 Digital Video Equipments o ATM CBR Multicast network (622Mbit/s backbone) o All cameras recorded locally o Images displayed over monitors recorded centrally o Motion detection software implemented on all the rail tracks cameras (object(s) to fall on the tracks) o Coupling with existing GIF detection equipments o High level web-based user interface 1.4 ORLÉANS TRAMWAY - FRANCE In 2000, Orléans, a 260 000 inhabitant city located in the centre of France, inaugurated a 18 km, 24 station tramway line. The requirements for video surveillance mentioned a high quality video surveillance system that would allow both the surveillance of the platforms (security of passengers) and the control of the tramway coaches on the roads (traffic control). Digital Video Networking appeared to be the best way to combine quality, flexibility, ease of use and cost effectiveness. Orléans chose VisioWave as the most appropriate provider able to implement a complete and operationnal digital video networking solution. o Video surveillance and traffic control o 34 cameras, fixed and mobile o 13 analog outputs, with PC based management o 12 VisioWave Power Plus 5 and 4 VisioWave Power Plus 10 Digital Video Equipments o ATM Network
7 1.5 SNCF - FRANCE SNCF is the national railway operator for France. They chose VisioWave to upgrade the video surveillance system on Line C, one of the largest suburban metro line in the Paris area. One of the technical requirement for this project was to integrate old technology cameras into the new digital system. Hence, VisioWave developed an automated "wake up" system for the existing vacuum tube cameras. o Video surveillance o 104 fixed cameras o Automated wake up of several existing vacuum tube cameras o 18 Evolution 8 Digital Video Equipments o 1 Evolution 28 Digital Video Equipments o ATM Network 1.6 BORDEAUX TRAMWAY - FRANCE The city of Bordeaux has always been at the edge of new technologies. When they decided to create a tramway line, they invested in a very innovative technology: the car-present power supply system : power is supplied only on the section of the railway where the tramway is located. There is no power on the other sections. Similarly, VisioWave's innovative digital video networking solutions have been chosen for the video surveillance system. o Video surveillance of platforms, car parks and crossroads o 228 fixed and mobile cameras o 32 analog outputs o 94 storage hard disks o 46 VisioWave Evolution 8 and 2 VisioWave Evolution 28 Digital Video Equipments o ATM and Ethernet Network
8 GE Security VisioWave Product Line Competitive advantages for transportation 1.7 LAUSANNE METRO - SWITZERLAND The city of Lausanne has always set the quality of life as a top priority. They have the project to extend the existing metro line to the south part of the city, in order to better satisfy the population. VisioWave's have been selected to provide the video surveillance system. o Video surveillance of platforms and car parks o 200 cameras o 16 analog outputs o 7 VisioWave Evolution 8 and 9 VisioWave Evolution 28 Digital Video Equipments o ATM Network 1.8 CAEN TRAMWAY - FRANCE When redesigning the public transportation infrastructure of the city, Caen went for a hybrid bus + tramway solution. Coaches are a mix of tramway (they go on rails in most sections of the network) and bus (they run on tires on the extremity of the section, and where slopes have a too high declivity rate). Another innovation in this project was the choice of Digital Video Networking technologies for the video surveillance system. VisioWave provided the equipments to implement it. o Video surveillance of platforms o 12 cameras o 2 analog outputs o 11 VisioWave Power Plus 5 Digital Video Equipments o ATM Network CONTACT INFORMATION Mr. Piero Marigo Sales Director Phone: +32 (0)4 73 92 29 91
