PART I. KOICA & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Part I KOICA & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Korea Internationa Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was founded as a government agency on Apri 1, 1991, to maximize the effectiveness of Korea s grant aid programs for deveoping countries by impementing the government s grant aid and technica cooperation programs. In the past, deveopment cooperation efforts were focused on meeting the Basic Human Needs (BHNs) of deveoping countries and on fostering their Human Resources Deveopment (HRD). However, the focus has now shifted to promoting sustainabe deveopment, strengthening partnerships with deveoping partners, and enhancing the oca ownership of beneficiaries. Additionay, goba concerns such as the environment, poverty reduction, gender mainstreaming, and popuation have gained significant importance among donor countries. Due to the continuousy changing trends in deveopment assistance efforts and practices, KOICA is striving to adapt to these changes by using its imited financia resources effectivey on areas where Korea has a comparative advantage. In particuar, since Korea has the unique experience of deveoping from one of the poorest countries in the word to one of the most economicay advanced, this knowhow is an invauabe asset that heps KOICA to efficienty support the sustainabe socioeconomic deveopment of its partner countries.

PART I. KOICA & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Korea s ODA & Framework Officia Deveopment Assistance (ODA) is composed of grants or concessiona oans, which are provided to deveoping countries with the purpose of promoting economic deveopment and wefare. Korea s ODA is cassified into three areas: 1) biatera aid (grant aid & technica cooperation), 2) biatera oans, and 3) financia subscriptions and contributions to internationa organizations (mutiatera). Biatera aid is comprised of technica cooperation and various types of transfer (made in cash, goods or services) with no obigation for repayment, and is impemented by KOICA under the authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Repubic of Korea. Biatera oans are provided on concessiona terms under the name of the Economic Cooperation Deveopment Fund (EDCF), impemented by the Export-Import Bank of Korea under the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. Mutiatera assistance is deivered either as financia subscriptions or contributions to internationa organizations.

PART I. KOICA & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Korea's Experience and KOICA's Program for Human Resources Deveopment Human Resources Deveopment (HRD) has been the most important factor in Korea s escape from vicious cyce of poverty and underdeveopment that had existed for many decades. With scarce natura resources, HRD payed a vita roe in modern Korea s deveopment. Ceary, Korea has emerged as an exempary showcase of nationa deveopment powered by HRD. From its own deveopment experience, Korea came to fuy recognize the significance of HRD, specificay in regard to Korea s coaboration with other deveoping countries. With much experience and know-how in HRD, Korea contributes greaty to the internationa community by sharing its unique deveopment experience with other nations. Since its estabishment in 1991, KOICA supported a variety of internationa cooperation programs for HRD, mainy in project-type aid form, focusing on education and vocationa training with a concentration in buiding a foundation for HRD. The training and expertise-sharing programs hep our partner countries buid administrative and technica expertise in both the pubic and private sectors. In order to share experience at the grassroots eve, under the name of Word Friends Korea, KOICA dispatches Korea Overseas Vounteers to provide services in the fieds such as education, regiona deveopment, computer science, heath care and nursing. Approximatey 7,806 vounteers have been dispatched to 57 countries thus far.

PART I. KOICA & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The training program provides opportunities to individuas from deveoping countries to gain first-hand knowedge of Korea s deveopment experience. The purpose of the program is to enabe the participants to appy what they earned for the deveopment of their home country or oca community. Since 1991, KOICA has offered 2,519 courses to 39,962 participants from 177 countries. There are a wide range of topics covered in the training program, incuding administration, economic deveopment, science and technoogy, information and communication technoogy, agricuture and heath. In order to meet the changing needs of partner countries, KOICA aways strives to renovate and improve its HRD programs. Types of KOICA Training Programs KOICA offers five major types of training programs: 1. Country Training Program Taiored programs that are specificay designed for an individua partner country 2. Reguar Training Program Programs that are open to any interested partner countries 3. Specia Training Program Programs that are temporariy avaiabe owing to particuar commitments of the Korean as we as partner governments 4. Joint Training Program Programs conducted in partnership with internationa organizations and other agencies 5. Schoarship Program Master s degree programs offered to individuas from partner countries

PART I. KOICA & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM KOICA's Schoarship Program With the mission to nurture taented students from deveoping countries, KOICA invites high-caiber students from deveoping countries and heps them gain professiona and systematic knowedge that wi pay a key roe in their home country s deveopment. To accompish this mission, KOICA has been operating master s degree courses with eading Korean universities in the fieds of economics, trade, women s empowerment, rura area deveopment, etc. In particuar, this program has significanty strengthened the reationships between Korea and the student s home country. Students, who have been given an opportunity to see Korea s experience in poverty reduction and socio-economic deveopment, wi gain a deeper understanding of Korea and contribute to the future socia, poitica and economic ties between the two nations. From 1997 to 2010, the program has assisted a tota of 977 students through 51 courses. And as of 2011, 280 participants are currenty participating in the program at tweve different universities. KOICA s Schoarship Program is fuy committed to the Miennium Deveopment Goas (MDGs) and is determined to expand its efforts to nurture future taents from deveoping countries to promote their countries sustainabe economic growth and socia deveopment.

APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY Appicants who satisfy one of the foowing conditions are wecome to appy: Both the appicant and his/her parents hod foreign citizenship Competed the entire 16-year education outside Korea (from eementary schoo to university) 2. Candidates who graduated from a degree program offered in Engish may submit the certificate of medium of instruction instead of the test resut.

PART III. PROGRAM CONTENT 2. KOICA ORIENTATION When you first arrive, there wi be an orientation for 2-3 days for KOICA s schoarship program at the ICC of KOICA. The orientation aims to provide participant with usefu information on the program as we as genera information on iving in Korea that you wi need during the program. Usuay, the orientation is composed of three parts; KOICA s wecoming session, Seou City Excursion and Medica Check-up. The order of each part is subject to change. 1) KOICA s Wecoming Session In the first part of the orientation, you wi have wecoming session which incudes KOICA s wecoming reception, introduction of KOICA and course outine. Through this session, you can have an overview of the Schoarship Program. Lectures about Korean cuture and basic Korean anguage and genera information regarding daiy ife in Korea wi aso be deivered in this session. 2) Seou City Excursion KOICA provides Seou City Excursion to every participant of the training program. Seou is the capita of Korea. You wi have a chance to visit the cutura heritages and downtown area of Seou. The excursion wi hep you get accustomed to new cuture and surroundings in Korea. 3) Medica Check-Up KOICA wi impement a medica check-up after each participant s arriva in Korea to assure their heath condition. After the medica check-up, KOICA wi officiay accept each participant as a KOICA trainee for the program. If any case incuding AIDS or pregnancy which may hamper the schoarship in Korea is found in the medica check-up, the participant wi be required to return home. The status as the participant for KOICA SP wi be finaized and the acceptance for the program wi be confirmed after medica check-up.

PART III. PROGRAM CONTENT 3. KDI SCHOOL ORIENTATION After arriva at the KDI Schoo, an orientation wi be conducted for the KOICA SP students in the beginning of the preiminary semester. ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES 1) Dormitory (on-campus) Accommodation during studies at the KDI Schoo can either be the Schoo's on campus dormitory (Haejungsa) or off campus dormitory (dormitory apartment). These dormitories are assigned mainy to internationa students who have no accommodation in Korea. To consider KOICA SP participants convenience, KDI Schoo wi assign KOICA students to on-campus dormitory with priority. The on-campus student dormitory is ocated about a 10 minute wak from the schoo buidings. There is no mea pan; so residents may prepare their own meas in the communa kitchen, or use the schoo cafeterias for on-campus dining. a. Rooms Genera Rooms A genera rooms are doube rooms and are equipped with beds, wardrobes, desks, a teephone (for intra- campus cas), booksheves, an air conditioning and heating system, and an internet system (eectrica outets: 220V). A set of bedding (banket, bed cover, bed sheet, bed pad, piow) are provided for students when they check in to their rooms. Dormitory Lounges Main Lounge on the 1st foor The main ounge is ocated on the first foor and is a pace where students can reax, watch TV, check their emai, do homework, read, or just hang out and it aso offers comfortabe surroundings for casua conversation. This pace has a sateite TV, some couches, two desktop computers, a printer, microwaves, a water dispenser, irons & ironing boards. There is a vending machine on the right side of the entrance. Lounges on each foor The ounges ocated in the center of haways on the second, the third and the fourth foors are equipped with refrigerators and water dispensers. EXPENSES FOR STUDY AND LIVING The foowing expenses wi be provided by KOICA and the KDI Schoo during the participant s stay in Korea. 1) Tuition 2) Aowances 4 Living aowance: KW 17,000 per day (subject to change) Meas: in kind or cash equivaent KW 21,600 per day (subject to change) Textbook and materias: KW 800,000 (distributed 1/3 of the tota amount over 3 different times) 4. Living aowances and meas expenses for the period of temporary eave to home country or a trip abroad during the vacation which exceed 15 days wi not be provided.

SUPPORT SERVICES 3) Sundry Expenses Sundry expenses (visa fee, taxi fare, passenger service charge, etc.) incurred between the times of entry into and departure from Korea wi bear for participants up to KW 200,000. 4) Other Expenses Accommodation (mainy dormitory of a training institute) Various Study visits and fied trips, etc during the Program A medica check-up after arriva Overseas trave insurance Pease Note: Each participant is advised to maintain some pocket money of their own for incidenta expenses that might be incurred during his or her trip to Korea. Since bank are cosed on every weekend, participants who arrive on the weekend shoud exchange money at the airport 3. INSURANCE During the program, participants wi be covered by the overseas trave Accident insurance. The insurance covers expenses for medica treatment and hospita care caused by diseases or accident within the scope and imit of insurance coverage. Pease Note: The foowing ARE NOT covered by the Overseas Trave Accident Insurance poicy: 1. Medica treatments for pre-existing inesses. 2. Medica treatments reated to, or resuting from, pregnancy or chidbirth. 3. Expenses for denta bridgework or cosmetic surgery. 4. Brain disease or menta iness. 5. Immunization or routine medica examinations and vaccinations. 6. Medica treatment for iness or injury caused by wifu misconduct. 3) Additiona Insurance If a participant woud ike to suppement the insurance poicy provided by KOICA, he/she is eigibe to obtain additiona insurance, at their own expense, for incidents and disease not covered by the KOICA poicy. The additiona insurance is an optiona insurance that provides greater coverage and utiizes a different payment system. The additiona insurance is provided by the Nationa Heath Insurance Cooperation (http://www.nhic.or.kr) and is a poicy independent from the poicy provided by KOICA. If a participant woud prefer additiona coverage at their own expense, he/she shoud take the foowing steps

PART VI. REGULATIONS Part VII REGULATIONS 1. PARTICIPANT S RESPONSIBILITES Participants are required to take up the schoarship in the academic year for which it is offered(deferra is not aowed) to foow the training program to the best of their abiity and abide by the rues of the University(hereafter, the KDI Schoo) and KOICA to reside in the dormitory designated by the KDI Schoo for the duration of the course except for hoidays or tempora eave to maintain an appropriate study oad and achieve satisfactory academic progress for the course. If the participant fais to attain a certain grades (GPA 3.0, B+) required by the KDI Schoo, his or her status as a KOICA program participants may be suspended to participate in a activities associated with the approved course of study incuding a ectures and tutorias, submit a work required for the course and sit for examination uness approved otherwise by the KDI Schoo in advance to notify the KDI Schoo in advance and get an approva for tempora eave to advise KOICA and the KDI Schoo of any persona or famiy circumstances such as heath probems, famiy probems which may be affect their study seriousy to refrain from engaging in poitica activities or any form of empoyment for profit or gain to agree to KOICA coecting information concerning them and passing that information onto other reevant parties, if necessary to return to his or her home country upon competion of their training program

REGULATIONS not to extend the ength of their training program or stay for persona convenience; Neither KOICA nor the KDI Schoo wi provide any assistance and be responsibe for extension of their stay to either return to their origina job post or remain empoyer in a fied reated to their degree for at east 3 year It is highy not recommended for participants to purchase persona vehices with their aowances provided by KOICA due to safety concerns and concentration on their studies 2. WITHDRAWALS In principe, a participant is not aowed to withdraw from the program at his or her own option once the program starts. A participant may withdraw with vaid persona or home country s reasons (such as heath or work issues) when acceptabe to KOICA. If a participant fais to attain a certain grades (GPA 3.0) required by the KDI Schoo, he or she may be forced to withdraw and return home upon withdrawa. The participant who has once withdrawn is not aowed to re-appy for the KOICA schoarship program for the next two years after the withdrawa. The vountary withdrawa wi never be aowed to re-appy for further KOICA schoarship programs, and any possibe expense incuding airfare wi be paid by the participant him/hersef. The participant who withdraws must return to the KDI Schoo the iving aowance he or she has aready received for the remaining period from the date of departure from Korea

TEMPORARY LEAVE Participants can have tempora eave (to home country or for a trip abroad) during the vacation on the condition that the trip doesn t affect their schoowork and as ong as they notify the KDI Schoo in advance. KOICA and the KDI Schoo do not pay airfare for the trip. If the trip exceeds 15 days, KOICA wi not pay the monthy schoarship for iving aowance and meas for the absent days which exceed 15 days. If the participant is found to have made an unreported temporary visit to his or her home country or traveed to other countries or made a trip despite the KDI Schoo s disapprova, his or her iving aowance and meas expenses wi be suspended (from the day of departure to the day of return). 4. ACCOMPANYING OR INVITING FAMILY As KOICA SP (Schoarship Program) is a very intensive program which requires fu commitment to and concentrated effort for study, participants are recommended not to bring any famiy members. In case participants accompany or invite famiy members, KOICA does not provide any financia or other administrative support for them. Participants may bring or invite famiy members but they must cover a the reevant expenses such as airfare, accommodation, iving cost, visa fee, insurance, etc, of their famiy. The safety and security of their famiy is aso the participant's responsibiity. KOICA pays the accommodation cost on the condition that participants ive in a dormitory. If a participant invites famiy and ives outside a dormitory with famiy under the permission of the training institute, KOICA doesn t provide accommodation cost for the participant.

KOICA is not iabe for any damage or oss of the participant s persona property; KOICA wi not assume any responsibiity for iness, injury, or death of the participants arising from extracurricuar activities, wifu misconduct, or undiscosed pre-existing medica conditions; If the participants break any of the rues of KOICA and KDI Schoo during their stay in Korea, their status as a KOICA SP participant may be suspended.

At the KOICA Counter, you can get detaied information about how to get to Internationa Cooperation Center (ICC) and purchase imousine bus ticket for City Airport, Logis & Trave (CALT). - A the KOICA staff at the Incheon Airport wears nametags or has signs for indication. If you cannot meet the KOICA staff at the counter, pease purchase a imousine bus ticket from the bus ticket counter (ocated on the 1 st Foor), and go to CALT Bus Stop No. 4A (or 10B). Pease find the bus number 6103 and present your ticket to the bus driver. From Incheon Airport to CALT, the approximate time for trave wi be between 70 to 90 minutes. When you arrive at CALT, you wi find another KOICA staff who wi hep you reach the ICC. KOICA wi reimburse the imousine bus fare when you arrive at ICC. Aso, pease be aware that there may be iega taxis at the airport. Even if they approach you first, pease do not take iega taxis and check to see if they are KOICA staff.

The taxi fare from the airport to ICC is normay 90,000 Won. KOICA won't reimburse the taxi fare if you use a taxi during the hours of 05: 30 ~ 22:00. Ÿ From Incheon Internationa Airport to the ICC through CALT - Take a City Air imousine bus at bus stop No.4A on the 1 st Foor. Buses run every 10~15 minutes between the hours of 5:30 and 22:00. - Meet the KOICA staff at the ounge on the 1 st Foor of CALT upon arriva. - Take a car arranged by the KOICA staff to the ICC (Expected time: 20 minutes)
