eadvantage Certificate Enrollment Procedures
Purpose: Instructions for members to obtain a digital certificate which is a requirement to conduct financial transactions with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines via eadvantage. Definitions: eadvantage A private, secure members-only website that allows members and eligible housing associates to conduct business and access their FHLB Des Moines accounts using the internet. Digital Certificate - an electronic "credit card" that establishes user credentials when doing business or other transactions on the Web. It is issued by a certification authority (CA) and contains the user s name, a serial number, expiration dates, a copy of the certificate holder's public key (used for encrypting messages and digital signatures), and the digital signature of the certificate-issuing authority so that a recipient can verify that the certificate is real. Instructions: 1. Begin by opening an Internet Explorer session. From the menu bar, select Tools then Internet Options (If the menu bar is not visible, right-click near the top of the window and select Menu Bar.) 2. From the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab, then click Trusted Sites, then Sites Revised November 2013 2
3. From the Trusted Sites dialog box, in the Add this website to the zone: field, type in https://ebus.fhlbdm.com, then click the Add button, then click the Close button to return to the Internet Options dialog box. 4. To verify that ActiveX controls are allowed, from the Internet Options dialog box, select the Security tab, then click the Custom Level button. Revised November 2013 3
5. Scroll to the section that pertains to ActiveX controls, change the value for the option Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked save for scripting from Disable to Prompt, then click OK. 6. Click Yes if prompted with the following dialog box. 7. Complete the configuration process by clicking OK in the Internet Options dialog box. Revised November 2013 4
8. Compatibility Mode Settings: From an Internet Explorer session, select Tools from the menu bar, then Compatibility View Settings. 9. In the Compatibility View Settings dialog box, type in https://ebus.fhlbdm.com, then click Add, then click Close. Note: Once the website is added, it will appear in the list as fhlbdm.com. 10. Installing Trusted Root Certificate Authority (CA): In the address bar of Internet Explorer, type in the eadvantage website address https://ebus.fhlbdm.com and Enter. 11. After logging in, select Install Trusted Root CA from the right-hand menu. 12. Click Open when prompted with the File Download Security Warning dialog box. 13. From the General tab of the Certificate dialog box, click Install Certificate. 14. This will launch an installation wizard, click Next to continue. Revised November 2013 6
15. On the Certificate Store screen, select the Place all certificates in the following store radio button, then click the Browse button. 16. Select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities folder and click OK. 17. Click Next to continue. 18. Click Finish to complete the import process. Revised November 2013 7
19. If prompted with the following Security Warning, click Yes to continue. 20. Click OK to The import was successful. Message. 21. Click OK to exit the Certificate dialog box. 22. Acquiring the Certificate: In eadvantage, navigate to a certificate restricted area, such as Account Transfers or Advance Transactions the following page will display. Click the Acquire Certificate button to begin the certificate enrollment process. Revised November 2013 8
23. If prompted with the following Internet Explorer ActiveX control message, click Yes to continue. 24. Because the root certificate has already been installed, proceed with entering user name and password credentials in the lower half of the screen ensure the Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0 is selected, then click Accept to continue. 25. If prompted with a Web Access Confirmation message, click Yes to continue. 26. If prompted with an Internet Explorer message, click Yes to continue. Revised November 2013 9
27. If prompted with another Web Access Confirmation message, click Yes to continue. 28. Click Continue Installation at the eadvantage Certificate Enrollment screen. 29. Click OK at the Certificate Installed screen. 30. Close all open Internet Explorer windows and then re-open Internet Explorer. Revised November 2013 10
31. Navigate back to eadvantage using the link https://ebus.fhlbdm.com and login when navigating to a certificate protected site the Choose a digital certificate screen will display select the newly installed certificate and click OK. (Depending on the operating system, the prompt may display as follows) 32. Enter user name and password credentials and leave the Remember my password box unchecked.
