Assessment and Grading Testing Procedures: Review examinations and the Mock RHIT will be taken online using the course management system. Grading: This course is graded using a weighted percentage method. The grading scale is listed below. Your graded assignments are weighted as: Review Exams: 75% of total grade - the percentage grade received for each of the 10 review exams is averaged Exam 1-60 pts. Exam 2-66 pts. Exam 3-60 pts. Exam 4-73 pts. Exam 5-74 pts. Exam 6-46 pts. Exam 7-70 pts. Exam 8-68 pts. Exam 9-60 pts. Exam 10-53 pts. PRG Disk Tests: 15% of total grade - the percentage grade received for the 3 tests is averaged 50 pts. each test Discussion Board 5% of total grade - 4 discussion board percentage grades are averaged - there will also be open discussions of the exams that will not be graded. Mock RHIT Exam 5% of total grade - the percentage grade on the exam is 5% of your total grade 140 pts. on exam

Individual Study Plan 1% Bonus grade *For specific instructions on how to calculate your grade, please see the How To Check Your Progress topic in the Getting Started Module of the content. The Mock RHIT exam Grade: ***The Mock RHIT makes up 5% of your total grade. HOWEVER, you must pass the Mock RHIT exam with a grade of 70% or above to successfully complete the course. The exam will be administered the last week of class and you will be given 2 attempts to pass it. If you do not pass the Mock RHIT and you are otherwise passing the course, you will be given an I Incomplete for the course and you will need to attempt the exam until it has been passed. At that time your final grade for the course will be recorded. Grading Scale: 93-100% A 85-92% B 77-84% C 70-76% D < 70 F **A grade of "C" or better must be earned in this course to progress in the HIT program. Assignments and Participation Assignments and Projects: See Assessment Instructions in the Content Module for specific instructions on how to complete all of the exams, tests, and discussion boards. See Schedule in the Content Module for specific due dates for all assignments. The degree of success in meeting the objectives of this course will be determined by assessing students' mastery of specific entry-level competencies as stated in the course objectives and RHIT Exam Competencies. This will be accomplished through evaluation of the students' mastery of review examinations, practice simulated computer exams, a Mock RHIT and discussion board participation.

Class Participation: Students are expected to communicate with the instructor as a learning resource. Students must check the course frequently for announcements, actively participate in threaded discussion boards, and respond to emails as needed. Due Dates: Completion of all assignments by the required due dates is expected of all HIT professional students. A late submission may be allowed based upon extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the instructor and is subject to grade reduction. If you miss a deadline, you must contact your instructor immediately to explain your circumstances. A reset of your exam or extension of your due date may be granted. Any reset must be completed within 7 days of the original date due. Generally, no more than one reset is allowed per semester. Students who know that they may be absent at a certain time may be able to complete their assignment early. Please contact your instructor to arrange to have your assignment opened for early completion. This will not count as a reset. *It is very important to review your Schedule on a regular basis to keep up with all of your assignments. Course Ground Rules Integrity Statement: Due to the format of this course it is imperative that the student adhere to a strict code of ethics when completing this course. The exams in this course are individual tests that are to be done individually. There is to be NO collaboration, sharing, or receiving of answers. These are graded assignments that are to reflect YOUR competency in areas of HIT. The results must accurately reveal your strong points and weaknesses so you can direct more study to the weak areas before taking your national exam. In addition, there is to be no manipulation of the course management system. Any of these items will be considered cheating and will result in a grade of F for the course and possible expulsion from the program. (Remember, you will be on your own when taking the RHIT) These exams need to be treated as a serious review for your RHIT exam.

The review will let you understand the great volume of information that needs to be reviewed and practiced for your exam and gives you an opportunity to do this in a course setting rather than totally on your own. Guidelines for Communications Email: Always include a subject line. Please use course email to contact your instructor whenever possible. This is the most efficient way to contact your instructor. Remember without facial expressions some comments may be taken the wrong way. Be careful in wording your emails. Use of emoticons might be helpful in some cases. Use standard fonts and word processing. Do not send large attachments without permission. Special formatting such as centering, audio messages, tables, html, etc. should be avoided unless necessary to complete an assignment or other communication. Respect the privacy of other class members Discussion Groups: Review the discussion threads thoroughly before entering the discussion. Be a lurker then a discussant. Try to maintain threads by using the "Reply" button rather starting a new topic. In addition to assigned discussion questions, discussion of Review Examinations after completion is encouraged. Students are encouraged to discuss topics from the exams as well as discuss test taking problems or to pose questions about content. Students may discuss why and how certain questions were answered correctly or incorrectly. Do not make insulting or inflammatory statements to other members of the discussion group. Be respectful of others' ideas. Be patient and read the comments of other group members thoroughly before entering your remarks. Be positive and constructive in group discussions. Respond in a thoughtful and timely manner. Web Resources: Columbia Guide to Online Style by Janice R. Walker and Todd Taylor Citation Styles Online http://www.bedfordstmartins.com/online/cite6.html
