IT Services Software Price List The items of software listed are available from Reception (insrvretail), 40-41 Park Place and the Health library, Cochrane Building, Heath Park. A Software and Datasets Copyright Request Form must be completed for all software sales. Information required includes the serial number of the PC on which the software is to be installed. Microsoft Campus Agreement Software University staff may purchase the software listed below (online) under work at home rights for use on one privately owned PC for work related purposes including teaching, research and personal educational development. The right to use this software will terminate when you leave the University. Room Hire Charges IT Services training rooms are available for use subject to the following guidelines: 1. Bookings from Schools and Directorates for use in connection with the work of the University will be accepted, subject to availability, with no charge levied for the use of the room or equipment therein. If IT staff support is required to assist with the use of the room, a charge may be levied. 2. Bookings that fall into one of the following categories may be subject to a charge:- a. Use by a School or Directorate where there is an identifiable income stream associated with the purpose the room is being used for e.g. courses provided where attendees pay a fee for that particular course. b. An externally advertised event such as a conference or workshop, which is organised by a Cardiff University School or Directorate. c. A booking received from a contact external to the University for the use of University facilities. Such a booking must be supported by a member of the University, and the purpose of the booking must be consistent with the aims and objectives of the University. Where a charge is levied, the basic room hire charge is 50 per half-day or 20 per hour. Charges for additional services e.g. generation of usernames, provision of a trainer, technician support, etc will be provided upon application. Training Room 1 and Training Room 2 (suitable for groups of up to 28 people) are available for use at the Julian Hodge Study Centre.,For smaller groups (of up to 16 people), the IT Training Suite may be more suitable although this room generally has very limited availability. All training rooms are fully accessible but assistive hardware and software can be supplied on request. (http://www.cf.ac.uk/insrv/fordisabledusers/technology/index.html). Projection facilities and whiteboards are installed in all rooms but additional equipment and support is chargeable and should be discussed prior to booking a room. Telephone: 029 20 874698 Email: insrveducation@cf.ac.uk Training Course and Certification Charges A regular programme of IT training courses are offered through insrveducation to help you make use of centrally provided computing facilities and software applications. IT courses range cover both beginner and advanced levels and are taught in an instructor-led classroom environment providing structured hands-on training. Depending on the amount of material covered courses are offered over a number of sessions, generally multiples of half-days (of 3 hours in length) or full days (of 6 hours face to face training). Attendance charges for members of staff and students of the University are: Half-day course 45 Full-day course 95 2-day course 180 3-day course 250 with refreshments provided during the course. insrveducation is the authorised testing centre for Cardiff University for both the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and Microsoft Office Specialist certification programmes. Both qualifications demonstrate through practical testing that you possess the necessary IT skills needed to work more productively and more efficiently. ECDL testing for individual students or members of staff is available as a package for 195 (this includes registration and 7 tests to allow you to earn your certification). Individual registration to enable you to take ECDL tests is available separately at 50 if you prefer to pay for tests as you take them. Individual tests are charged at 30 each. All re-sit tests are charged at 20. Beneficial rates for groups of students or staff on application from insrveducation@cf.ac.uk We also welcome external customers to register through our test centre and can provide registration and tests at favourable commercial rates. As an alternative to the ECDL, we can also offer the Microsoft Office Specialist certification tests in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. These tests demonstrate your IT ability to a level higher than that of ECDL and may be more appropriate for anyone requiring specialist proof of their skills. Microsoft Office Specialist tests are charged at 60 each for individual students or members of staff with a package set of up to 6 tests available at 150 if you wish to obtain the Master Certification (where you need to combine passes in four individual tests to create the further certificate). A fee is included in these prices where required. If you are planning on taking multiple tests then the Master certification package cost making this a cost-effective solution even if you don t wish to gain the full master qualification. To comply with academic licence conditions, we may not supply computer software except within Cardiff University. 5. The prices stated apply to official Cardiff University orders, and to sales to registered students of Cardiff University. For most items, except software, we are required by Cardiff University Finance Section to add VAT to all other sales, including personal sales to members of staff. 6. Purchasers may be asked to provide proof of their status to enable us to ensure that we adhere to these conditions. 7. We are authorised to copy and sell popular application software to University staff who work a minimum of 200 hours per year and to students for the benefit of work and study. Microsoft application software is available for staff purchases only. Undergraduate students, postgraduate students and honorary members of staff are not eligible to purchase software under this agreement. Endnote and SPSS application software is available for both staff and students of Cardiff University. 8. Licensing for all software purchases is valid only whilst employed by or studying at Cardiff University. The software must be removed if employment ceases or on completion of course of study. Our policy is to stock popular items and those for which we can offer a real discount. Other items of stationery and computer consumables may be ordered from the University supplier, Office Supplies Team.
