Students pursuing an Associate of Science in ire Science will refer to the general catalog for academic policies. Transfer credits from other institutions Students who wish to graduate with an Associate of Science in ire Science must earn a minimum of 20 credits at MSU-Billings with a GPA of 2.00 or higher. Refer to the general catalog for details. Prior Learning Assessment Students may have already earned credit through work-site training or government-sponsored workshops or military experience. Certificates or documentation which state that the American Council on Education (ACE) or the National Program on Non-Collegiate Sponsored Instruction (PONSI) assesses that training credit may be available for coursework for which there are equivalencies in MSU Billings curriculum. EMT Certification Students who pass the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician training and have a current EMT card may be awarded up to 6 credits of coursework. or students who complete this certification, three credits will be awarded to complete the Life Science category (non-lab) and three credits will be awarded to fulfill part of the Social Science category. It is highly recommended that students complete the EMT certification early in their academic career. Credits can be posted, if possible, in the flat-spot to maximize a student s tuition, and early completion of the course will assist with better academic planning. Transcript evaluation (if applicable) completed by: on / / Developing a Plan of Study To facilitate course planning and scheduling, students should be aware that not all courses are offered every semester. This program can be started in either the fall or spring semesters. 2.) Students are encouraged to earn their National Registry EMT certification. It is not required for the program but strongly encouraged for job placement and an option to get college credits for this training. a. It is highly recommended that if you choose this option to complete the training and exam in the first year of school. b. Once a student has passed the exam and has the NREMT Basic card they may submit it for college credits. i. A student may earn 6 credits: toward the Life Science (Biology) category and toward the Social Science category. This would mean that once the EMT card is earned a student would only need to take one Physical Science course with a lab and one Social Science course. c. To get these credits posted you must turn a copy of the current NREMT card into the Registrar s office on the main campus. 3.) TRID 160 should be completed in a student s LAST Spring semester so that a student will have a current hazardous material certification when they graduate. 4.) Students may wish to continue on to a Bachelor s degree. General Education courses can be carefully chosen with an advisor in order to ensure a more seamless transition. 5.) Students planning to continue to a BSBA General Business Program in the College of Business should take M143, WRIT 101, WRIT 220, and ECNS 201. 5 P age
