1 MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY BILLINGS PRE-NURSING PROGRAM Name Student ID # Advising is available for students in their Pre-Nursing Program. However, students are solely responsible for meeting requirements and determining the classes that they will need for graduation. Through arrangement with the College of Nursing at Montana State University Bozeman, Montana State University Billings offers approved pre-requisite courses for nursing students. The MSU Bozeman Nursing program is divided into lower division and upper division course work. Upon successful completion of the required lower division course work, nursing students begin their upper division courses (junior and senior) at Bozeman or an MSU Bozeman upper division campus site in Billings, Great Falls, Missoula or Kalispell. 5 Important MSU Bozeman Upper Division Information: The deadlines for submitting an application for upper division placement are now January 1 st or August 1 st each year, one full semester in advance of placement in lower division nursing courses and two full semesters in advance of placement in the first semester of the junior year of upper division placement. Applications will be made available through the College s website at: beginning June 15th for Fall applications and November 15 th for Spring applications each year. If offered placement, students must submit a $200 deposit with acceptance of placement. -If placement is accepted, the nursing student would also need to apply for admission to MSU Bozeman. A Wait List Application for Upper Division Placement is available with MSU Bozeman. As a reminder being on the wait list is not a guarantee, however, MSU Bozeman does place a lot of students off the wait list. For information on the wait list application process contact MSU Bozeman directly. Before beginning any nursing courses through MSU Bozeman regardless of the city in which you plan to complete those courses, complete a general application for admission to MSU Bozeman. If you have attended MSU Billings or MSU Bozeman, you will not be charged the $30 general application fee. Contact MSU Billings Admissions & Records to complete a Request for Transmittal of Application Materials form, which will transfer your application information and transcript directly from MSU Billings to MSU Bozeman (with no need to complete the MSU Bozeman general application for admission). For students beginning the nursing program at MSU Billings, the program is 4 ½ years in length to allow for sequencing of courses, and may be longer or require summer courses if remedial work is necessary or for part-time students. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing will be awarded by MSU Bozeman. It is important to see your advisor on a regular basis. If there are any changes to the nursing program, your advisor will be one of the first people contacted. Updated 06/09/02010
