CAMILLA DIEDRICH "I m kind of a free flow thinking designer. I try to keep my mind as open as possible through every project, without being too focused on the outcome. And I love to start in the wrong end like knitting a sweater backwards. The people I work with at IKEA do a tremendous job; they help me translate my designs into flat packed goods at prices everyone can afford." It started off with various art schools and a Master of Fine Arts from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in 2000. Since then it s just kept on rolling for freelance designer Camilla Diedrich. Her work has travelled to countries like Brazil, the U.S., Japan and Italy, and in 2002 she was awarded the Excellent Swedish Design Diploma for her bubble lamp BPL. Camilla has so far created several textile collections for IKEA, for example OFELIA and ANNO, and they all stay close to her typical hallmark: playful, functional and highly innovative. NINA JOBS "Form, function and material they all have to harmonize. I m also meticulous when it comes sustainability; the products I design have to last for a long time. Working with IKEA is a challenge, since a small price tag and high quality are equally important. Very democratic and very sympathetic!" Nina Jobs is an internationally recognized and awarded designer. Her CV includes a variety of graphic, product, furniture and exhibition design assignments for clients such as IKEA, LM Ericsson, Askul in Japan and Museum of Modern Art in New York. Between 2002 and 2006, Nina Jobs was assigned to promote Swedish design in Asia on the behalf of the Swedish government. Nina Jobs has an education in Graphic Design from Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm, as well as a Master of 3-D Design from L école Nationale Supérieure des Arts décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris. SUNNIVA KANDELL "For me, design is about improvement and joy. The work you do has to add something relevant to what already exists and at the same time correspond to people s everyday needs. Reaching that goal is so rewarding making people s everyday life easier and more joyful." Sunniva Kandell began her design career at the Ålsta Folk High School in Sweden in the beginning of 1990. More than a decade later, after years of further education, she graduated from the renowned Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. Her cooperation with IKEA has so far resulted in everything from beautiful curtains to clever cake plates, all designed for a better everyday home. Inter IKEA Systems B.V. 2006
SYNNÖVE MORK "If it feels natural and unconstrained. If you can use it every day. If it blends naturally with any kind of style. To me, that s good design. Beautiful and practical home furnishings should be for everyone, and that s why a low price is a beautiful thing, too." Synnöve Mork is a woman with a packed business card. She designs textiles for IKEA and several other companies. She s an awarded exhibition producer. She works for major Swedish life style magazines as interior decorator and journalist, and serves as an advisor for tomorrow s retail strategies and store concepts. And until the end of 2003, Synnöve was the lecturer at the Department of Textiles at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, the same school that she graduated from as a textile design student. CILLA RAMNEK "I have a fascination for instant design objects that are created on the spur of the moment. They often turn out to be beautiful, clever and affordable in a natural, unintentional way. Even if I appreciate the traditional design process, my heart definitely beats for home furnishings that are created without a second notice or hesitation." Cilla Ramnek makes no distinction between design, art and handicraft for her they re all equally important and enjoyable to work with. One day she designs textiles for IKEA, the next day she s preparing an art exhibition in Tokyo. As the creative and hardworking artist she is, she also manages to work with interior design for magazines and put out how-to books about knitting and handbag decorations. Cilla Ramnek has an education in Textile Design from The University College of Art, Crafts & Design in Stockholm. Inter IKEA Systems B.V. 2006
ANNA SALANDER "A given space, a number of colours and the repetition of patterns that s what make textile design so exciting and fun to work with. To be creative within these endless, but nevertheless fixed, frames is a challenge that never ceases to inspire me as a designer." Designing textiles isn t Anna Salander s only occupation. Far from it. Since she started her own firm in 1986, she s been working with everything from advertising assignments to creating the right image and approach for various companies. And she won t stay in one place either. Swedish born Anna has recently settled down in Norway, after spending six years in France. With studies in graphic design and communication, plus higher education in textile design, Anna Salander s versatile career comes as no surprise. Neither does GUNVOR, her first textile collection for IKEA, which clearly expresses her likings for intense colours and distinct patterns. Inter IKEA Systems B.V. 2006
CHARLOTTE SKAK "I want my designs to really please people, their eyes and senses, minds and bodies. It s important, necessary almost, to be surrounded with objects that excite us. Beauty is a given, but so is relevance or else the design won t have any real meaning to the user. Working with IKEA is such an inspiring challenge. I love the creative process, to explore the possibilities and potentials and to find that ideal point of intersection where a product s design, functionality and price meet." Charlotte Skak has been devoted to design in general and textiles in particular for more than 15 years. After graduating with a Masters degree from Designskolen Kolding in Denmark in 1999, she soon started working as an independent textile and graphic designer for various companies. Her collaboration with IKEA has given her opportunity to develop her distinct Nordic style in new and exciting ways, which collections like ANDREA and OFELIA clearly states. ANNA SVANFELDT "Designing textiles makes me happy. I hope it shows, because I want people to appreciate and treat my work in an easygoing way. When customers find new, unexpected ways of using my designs, I really feel that I ve succeeded. The IKEA view on home furnishings attracts me a lot, not least their concern for environmentally sound materials and techniques. Form, function, price and green thinking I like it!" Anna Svanfeldt is a woman that thrives in many creative environments. When she s not designing textiles and furnishings for IKEA and other major Swedish retailers, she works as an Art Director and Graphic Designer for well-known national ad agencies, publishing companies, newspapers and magazines. Which is quite natural, regarding the fact that she has extensive educations in both areas. Inter IKEA Systems B.V. 1999
LINDA SVENSSON "Real life is my biggest influence. It can be buildings, trees, lakes; basically anything that captures my eyes. These natural patterns and colours are always my creative starting point. The true beauty of IKEA design, though, is the combination of form, function and a low price. It makes so much sense making good design accessible to everyone." In 2001, after years of studying at different art and design schools, Linda Svensson started her own design firm. Four years later she did her first textile collection for IKEA. Now, with PATRICIA and PETRONELLA, she has once again proved that nature is a great source of inspiration for a textile designer. HELEN TRAST "For me, personality is the key. If I don t make Helen a vital part of what I do, my designs won t touch people s hearts and minds the way I want. My textiles are often described as intense, colourful and merry, and I guess that says a lot about me too." Helen Trast has worked with textiles for more than 20 years. Her career started 1982 at Anders Beckman's School (today Beckmans College of Design) in Stockholm. Three years later, she joined the Borås Wäfveri Group and became one of their full-time designers. For this prominent textile company, for whom she still works for, Helen has designed numerous collections of fabrics and bed linen. The FREDRIKA collection is Helen Trast at her best: expressive design with colours that make you and your home happy. Enjoy and be moved! Inter IKEA Systems B.V. 1999
