35,512 cases were prosecuted by this Office. Over 3.4 million dollars was collected in restitution for victims of crime. Victim s Compensation awarded $1,252,322.32 to victims of crime and their service providers.

In 2014, there were 22 homicides. In 2014, we took 13 homicide cases to trial. In 2015, we have had 8 homicide trials to date. 185 felony cases were tried in 2014. This is more than any other jurisdiction in the State and translates to over 685 days in trial.

PHONE SYSTEM The current phone system installed at the DA s office is no longer maintainable. The vendor no longer supports this equipment and will not renew the maintenance agreement for 2016. There are no more replacement phones or parts. EPC was on this system and has since upgraded most of the phones in the county to a VOIP system. Our office researched to see if there are other vendors with a new phone system that would be a cost savings over the EPC system.

CONVERSION TO ELECTRONIC MEDIA The criminal courts are very close to requiring all data filed with the courts to be submitted in an electronic or paperless manner. This is currently done only with Civil cases. Our office is scheduled to go live in February 2016. As more and more of law enforcement agencies move to paperless systems we find the need to develop means to accommodate these systems and still manage to process our caseload in the most efficient manner. Paperless systems require updated hardware, software and storage.

DISCOVERY DEFICIT The state wide discovery sharing system, Senate Bill 14-190, is to be completed by October 31, 2016. This system must be operational by November 1, 2016. Once this system is in use District Attorney offices will no longer be able to charge a fee for discovery. No revenue has been set aside to compensate District Attorney offices for the staff and operational costs of producing discovery.

DISCOVERY DEFICIT Current receipts for discovery on an annual basis equal $390,000. This request is for two months of receipts in order to cover the deficit starting November 2016. $32,500 X 2 = $65,000

SALARY The Clerk and Recorder and District Attorney s offices have the lowest entry level salaries in the County. By utilizing the same analysis and formulas that the Clerk and Recorder s Office used, $15.80 per hour, we would need the following funding to raise starting salaries: $573,489 EBMS recommends using $16.06 per hour. This results in a funding level of: $643,561
