AMOS Business Suite for Mobile A handy solution for your Asset Management System HOW IT WORKS This AMOS Mobile release is comprised of two business modules: Inventory and Maintenance. On the device, a remote Sybase database contains all data entered by the user and all data copied from the AMOS Suite database. On the device, users can record inventory, update measure points and counters, and create work requisitions. There are 3 databases involved: 1. Handheld device remote database: Sybase 2. Office consolidated database: Sybase 3. AMOS Business Suite for Mobile A handy solution for your Asset Management System Barcode Reader The AMOS Mobile software will make use of a laser barcode reader if such exists. AMOS Mobile itself does not process barcodes; that is a job for the device. In short, any barcode the device supports AMOS Mobile will support. The device s capabilities to read and process the various barcodes decides what AMOS Mobile will support. Digital Camera Some devices come with a built-in photo camera, which AMOS Mobile can also take advantage of. When a user creates a work requisition, the user is also enabled to take photos with the device and attach them to the work order. The resolution and quality of the picture taken depends on the device s capabilities. Synchronisation Rules: provide flexibility for the capacities of different devices. A user s instruction is to perform an inventory control of a particular section of the storage area. The mobile device is filled with the required details, such as locations and part identifications. User enters the location and starts counting a part. User then wishes to enter this reading into the AMOS Mobile system. All the user has to do is to scan the barcode identifying the part and enter the quantity counted. Then start counting the next part, again scan the barcode, enter the quantity and so forth. Notice how little typing is required from the user; also notice the usage of barcodes eliminating the option to enter incorrect part numbers.
