Distance Education Four years full-time (or part-time equivalent) The BMinTh is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) Overview Avondale s Bachelor of Ministry and Theology is designed to prepare you for employed ministry in Seventh-day Adventist churches and organisations, and other Christian denominational churches. The course provides a foundation in ministry and theology and the resources required to work as an employed minister. The course is structured to be a highly flexible degree. The three majors in biblical studies, church ministry and theology can be expanded into specialisations using the eight electives that are offered through the degree. These eight electives can be developed into another major area of interest. This means that you will graduate qualified in more than one area, increasing employability and workforce readiness. The biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew) component of the degree integrates the use of LOGOS Bible Software into the program allowing you to reach a higher level of language understanding in a fun, interactive and user-friendly way. If you graduate from the BMinTh (Hons) with first-class honours, you may then be eligible to commence a PhD program without completing a master s degree. Entry requirements If you complete four semesters of the BMinTh course with a minimum average of 70%, you will be invited to structure your course in fifth semester with a view to join the BMinTh (Hons) in sixth semester. If you still have a minimum average of 70% at the end of semester six, you may enrol directly in the honours program for semester seven. BMinTh (Hons) Ministry Pathway Information If you want to use the BMinTh (Hons) as a pathway to ministry, you will need to take eight units for a major in Church Ministry (CMIN) instead of a third minor and four electives. Therefore, you will take the same units as students in the BMinTh, but you will take four units (24 credit points) of honours study in the place of BMinTh electives. 5 P age

The course covers areas such as biblical studies, biblical languages, theology, history, spirituality, and pastoral psychology. While the course does not provide a pathway into the employed ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, it does give students a theological foundation and an opportunity for personal spiritual development. Course structure The AssocDegTheolStuds is composed of 16 units (96 credit points) of study over four semesters fulltime (or part-time equivalent). All units are worth six credit points (unless otherwise specified). All units are to be taken from the three discipline areas: Biblical Languages and Biblical Studies, Systematic and Historical Theology, and Church Ministry and Pastoral Psychology. At least four units must be taken in two of these streams and at least three units must be taken at second level or above. In this two-year course, students do not normally take third level units, although this option is available to those approved to study these units. AVAILABLE ELECTIVES Electives may be taken from any unit offered at Avondale for which a student has met the prerequisites. Your eight electives can be structured in the following ways: extend one or two majors to specialisations by adding four units from the lists below in two of the lists, choosing from biblical studies, church ministry or theology units use four electives to create a minor or honours. You can elect to study two minors of four units each, or one minor and four related electives or one minor and honours. Minors can be in any other areas apart from biblical studies, church ministry and theology combine all eight electives to create a major in another discipline. An approved sequence of studies comprising at least EIGHT 6-credit point units in one discipline area or coherent multi-discipline area with at least two units at 300- level Specialisation An approved sequence of studies comprised of at least 10 units (usually TWELVE 6- credit point units) in one discipline or coherent multi-discipline area, including at least two units at 100-level, at least four units at 200-level and at least four units at 300-level.
