LICENTIATE IN THEOLOGY (LTH) The Licientiate in Theology (L Th.) programme is aimed at those who desire to serve the Church. This course is designated to ensure that Church officials have the basic understanding of both the theology and the responsibility that the task to which they have been called entails. Whether, the individual possesses or lacks formal university entrance qualifications, but would like to undertake a rigorous course in Theology and Biblical Studies. It is a step on the road of academic formation and scholarship, which leads ultimately to the degree in Theology. The main differences between the L Th. and the B Th. programme are the following: Introduction to Biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew) course is optional Only 18 (rather than 26) core courses are prescribed Candidates are not required to submit a final paper, project or Research Paper. SHORT COURSES The Training of the laity, who are church leaders and workers, for example, church administrators, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders and church social workers is very critical to the growth and development of the church. It is within this regard a number of short courses to cover pertinent aspects of the Church will be offered. These include: - Bible Study Methods - Cell Group (Household) Ministry - Mission Evangelism - Sunday School Management - Sports Ministry - Chaplaincy - Peace Studies - Church Administration (Secretaries and Treasurers) DIPLOMA IN THEOLOGY AND BACHELOR OF ARTS IN THEOLOGY The Diploma in Theology and the Bachelor of.arts in Theology represent the original programme offerings of the College for Leadership and Theological Development (CLTD) 2
3 formerly Institute for Theological and Leadership Development (ITLD). These programmes align closely to the foundational intent of the CLTD: to equip Christian workers to serve more effectively in their contexts. The programmes train students to function as effective and efficient pastors and church workers with carefully honed skills in spiritual leadership at all levels. Each student pursuing the Diploma in Theology is required to complete a minimum of twentysix (26) core and required cognate courses (3 credits each). Students registering for the Bachelor of Arts in Theology are required to complete thirty-four (34) core required cognate and elective courses (3 credits each). These courses are grouped under the following revised course offerings: Biblical Studies Theological & Ethical Studies Historical Studies Missiological Studies Christian Ministry General Education Guided Research Practicum The current Undergraduate Programmes are offered part-time, which consists of three (3) semesters (August December, January May and May - July). PRACTICUM Theology students who are pursuing the undergraduate programmes (excluding LPL) are required to complete a minimum of six hundred (600) hours for practicum for a total of twelve (12) credits. In order for students to complete the required number of Practicum hours, the College will partner with each student s church or selected social agencies to fulfill this task. Intense supervision will be given to each student by a CLTD appointed Staff Tutor and Supervisor and also an on-site Supervisor to a lesser extent. RESEARCH PAPER Each student pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Theology or the Major/Minor combination is required to submit a Research Paper (8,000 10,000 words) in his or her fourth year of studies. 4 BACHELOR OF ARTS IN THEOLOGY AND BACHELOR OF ARTS IN GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING (MINOR) OR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (MINOR) It has become necessary to combine Theology Programme with other disciplines. Guidance and Counselling as well as Community Development are importance and useful disciplines that theology students may pursue. It is hoped that having knowledge of either discipline along with Theology will equip students to be better able to minister and serve others. This Programme is designed to introduce students to the various areas of offerings of Theology and to a lesser extent to courses related to Guidance and Counselling or Community Development. The aim is that either discipline along with theology will provide students with adequate knowledge and skills, which are necessary for practice. The total number of credits for Major is 90 (24 core courses, Research Paper [6 credits] and ; Practicum [12 Credits]. The total number of credits for Minor is 30. THE GRADUATE PROGRAMMES Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Missiology Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership Doctor of Theology (DTh) MASTER OF ARTS (MA) AND MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL) IN MISSIOLOGY The focus of the Master of Arts & Master of Philosophy in Missiology at CLTD is the critical study of the forms and traditions of Caribbean Christianity and Christian life and thought emerging as a distinctive strand of World Christianity. It involves a scholarly reflection on the importance of Christian presence in the Caribbean, an interpretative depth to inform and strengthen the Caribbean Church in its task of Christian witness, spiritual nurture, intellectual and socio-cultural transformation. The programme seeks to give expression to the growing contemporary sense of kairos in Caribbean Christianity. It aims at enabling graduates from the Caribbean countries to undertake advanced study of Christianity directly related to their own setting, by exposing them to the breath and diversity of Caribbean Christianity through the use of several locations within the Caribbean and other wider contexts. It further aims at involving scholars with the possibility of field research PROGRAMME DELIVERY 4

Such programmes have adopted the tendency to emphasize management capabilities. This programme seeks, among other things, to fill the void in the developmental opportunities that are offered to persons seeking to develop their leadership and management skills. The aim of the programme is to equip practitioners with transformational leadership skills that enable them to provide a new paradigm of leadership for church and industry. It focuses on the specific needs and issues facing leaders of organizations in the two-thirds world in general and the Caribbean in particular. The programme resembles a Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) but goes beyond traditional M.B.A. parameters. The duration of this programme is twenty-four months. PROGRAMME DELIVERY The Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership is a two-year modular programme, with one course being taught each month over an extended weekend once per month (Friday to Sunday) and a day for tutorial.
