HOW TO REACH BERGAMO A) Your best option is to fly directly to Bergamo. The ORIO AL SERIO Airport is apprx 5 km from the city centre (website: www.orioaeroporto.it ). A Shuttle Bus Service (AIRPORT BUS http://www.atb.bergamo.it/user/default.aspx?sez=2&pag=126&not=215) is available every 15 minutes and tickets can be bought at the airport ( 2,10 for a single ticket into town). You can also get a taxi (Radio TAXI 035/4519090) for approx 13-16. B) If you arrive to Milan MALPENSA AIRPORT (www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en) There is no direct bus from Malpensa airport to Bergamo. You should go to Milan central railway station and then take a bus or a train to reach Bergamo. Bernardino n 72/e, instead you find the University of Bergamo in via dei Caniana n 2. From the Railway Station BY BUS: you can reach the buildings catching the bus n. 5 and get off at the bus stop in Via dei Caniana in front of the University of Bergamo (mainbuilding) ( If you pass the street at the traffic light on your left, you can reach on foot Via S. Bernardino n. 72.8 (near the public Library TIRABOSCHI) ON FOOT: from the railway station of Bergamo (Piazza Guglielmo Marconi), turn left in Via Geremia Bonomelli ; then continue in Via Costantino Simoncini for 250 m. Continue in Via S. Giorgio and then turn right in Via Evaristo Baschenis. At the crossroads turn left in Via S. Bernardino. The International Office is halfway the street on your left (It takes about 15 minutes). If you want to reach the University of Bergamo in via dei Caniana, arrive at the end of Via S. Bernardino, turn right and cross the street at the traffic light. The University entrance is on your right. (see the map below)

PRACTICAL INFORMATION AND SUPPORT Dear student, in order to spend your study period in Italy, you need to request some documents for your stay. HOW TO REACH UFFICIO DELLE ENTRATE FROM THE RAILWAY STATION: turn left in Via Bonomelli. The Office is on your right, at the beginning of the street (see the map below). Non EU students must apply for the PERMIT OF RESIDENCE within 8 days of arrival in Italy. Non EU students must go to Authorised Post Offices (see below) and require the residence permit kit, complete it and return to the post office to submit the kit. After having handed out the necessary papers, students immediately receive a receipt that must be kept and always shown together with the passport, indicating the date of the appointment at the (Questura) to be identified and have to hand out the original documents. It costs 16,00. You can buy it at the tobacconist. Once you have completed the kit, you immediately have to go to the Post Office to send all the papers to the Authority. The clerks will give you the receipt of payment, that you always have to

bring with you, indicating the date of the appointment at the local police authority (in Italian QUESTURA ). The sending costs about 137.50. HOW TO REACH THE POLICE STATION (QUESTURA) The police station is in via Noli 26 in Bergamo. To reach it, from the city center (Porta Nuova) catch the bus 11 E or 11 F and get off at the 5 th bus stop, at the beginning of via Suardi. You will find the police station ( Questura) in front of you (see the map below). Bus stop of via Suardi Police station City center Porta Nuova- NATIONAL INSURANCE SERVICE For students coming from abroad there is the opportunity to register with the National Insurance Service (S.S.N. Servizio Sanitario Nazionale), that allows to use of medical care, obtain prescriptions to buy medicines /drugs or reserve particular examinations in hospitals. The length of the policy is of a calendar year ( from January to December 2013).

In order to join the S.S.N. you need the following documents: Copy of Permit of residence and the Permit of Residence Tax code, issued by Agenzia delle Entrate; Receipt of postal payment of 149,77 ( current postal account: 379222 ; addressed to : AMMINISTRAZIONE P.T. REGIONE LOMBARDIA ; reason for payment : ISCRIZIONE VOLONTARIA AL S.S.N ). HOW TO REACH THE ASL OF BERGAMO From the Railway Station catch the bus n 7 to Celadina or bus n 8 to Seriate. Get off the bus at the 5 th bus stop, in front of the ASL of Bergamo.
