Grid-In-Hand Mobile Grid Revised 1/27/15 Grid-In-Hand provides a mobile solution framework by coupling your mobile scanner to your ios or Android device. Use Mobile Grid for inventory, asset management, attendance, security, and much more. Some of the most common uses for Mobile Grid: Mobile order writing and restocking Field inventory, expiration date tracking, and cycle counting Security auditing, monitoring, and check points Job time tracking Check-in and Check-out Attendee management and attendance checking Automated crib management Location based data capture Image capture based on NFC, RFID, and barcodes Mobile data sensors and measurement Mobile livestock data tracking and capture Active and Passive RFID data solutions Customized RFID + barcode + magswipe solutions Getting Started To begin using Grid-In-Hand, sign up for an account at https://cloud-in-hand.com/signup.php. You will need to choose a unique Username and Password for your account. Depending on the service you have chosen, you may need more than one account. This is common with Mobile Grid, where you will have one management account and could have multiple user accounts. For example, if you will have five employees using Mobile Grid, each will need their own Cloud- In-Hand.com account in addition to your management account for a total of six accounts.

Account Configuration After you have signed up for your account, log in and begin the configuration of your account. This configuration will include standard account settings such as email addresses, defaults for files that will be used, database connection settings, and roster files. Home This button will take you to the Cloud-In-Hand.com home page. Account The Account tab is used to edit the Name, Primary and Secondary Email, file configurations, and Device IDs attached to the account. MySQL Database The MySQL Database tab will let you configure the connection settings for your database. Contact your database administrator for this information if you do not have it available. Roster The Roster tab will allow you to upload a roster file for attendance tracking. You can adjust the settings of the file before it is uploaded from this tab. Database auto-update time Set the time (in GMT) that databases automatically update from your Cloud-In-Hand.com account to the mobile devices running Mobile Grid. Any changes to the database file(s) will be pushed to mobile devices as long as Enable database auto-sync is enabled. With this option selected, when you open Mobile Grid from a mobile device, it automatically checks the server to verify that it is running the latest version of the database. Note that the app sees that the database is in sync and lists the last time that the database was verified. DB FTP Configure the FTP information for your database files. This includes the username, password, address, port, and automatic update information.

Grids The Grids tab is where you will manage your existing grids. Contact The Contact tab provides contact information for Serialio. Logout Choose the Logout button to log out of Cloud-In-Hand.com.

Grid-In-Hand Mobile Grid on ios Select Device This will allow you to select the scanner to connect to Mobile Grid or look at currently connected devices. Add Row Add a blank row into Mobile Grid. Delete Row Remove an existing row. It does not matter whether it has data or is a blank row. Trigger Scan #1 This button will allow you to activate the scanner assigned to trigger 1. Configure triggers under the Settings button in the Triggers Setup section. By activating a scanner as trigger 1, tapping this icon will automatically begin the scanning process for that scanner. Contact Serialio for information about scanners compatible with the Trigger Scan feature. Trigger Scan #2 / Virtual Scan This button will allow you to activate the scanner assigned to trigger 2. Configure triggers under the Settings button in the Triggers Setup section. By activating a scanner as trigger 2, tapping this icon will automatically begin the scanning process for that scanner. Contact Serialio for information about scanners compatible with the Trigger Scan feature.

If no scanner is assigned to trigger 2 you can insert virtual scanner data. Virtual scanner data will enter preselected data without the need for a physical scanner. These virtual scans are configured under the Settings button as Define Virtual Scanner Data. Camera Scan Allows you to use the built-in camera on your phone or tablet as a barcode scanner. Grid Options Use this button to discard or upload an existing grid to your Cloud-In-Hand.com account. Settings Application Settings Clicking the Application Settings button will allow you to configure the back end of Mobile Grid. Application Settings shows the current version of Mobile Grid, the Device ID of the device in use, and other app specific options. Cloud Account Options to set the Username, Password, and optional grid prefix for this device. Scanners Enable Scanfob 2002 compatibility (used to send data followed by a carriage return as a packet; helps minimize tap to focus with certain scanners), enable the ios keyboard, define what data is sent when a virtual scanner is used, and set up filtering for duplicates (this includes options to never post duplicates or only see duplicate scans as new scans after a set amount of time in seconds). Triggers Setup Configure what Bluetooth devices the trigger buttons are assigned to. Show Floating Trigger Set up a floating Tap to scan trigger button. This trigger can be moved to anywhere on the screen that is comfortable for your scanning purposes.

Setup of Floating Trigger Tap and hold the floating trigger to set up the options available. Camera Scan Configure the barcode symbologies that can be read using the built-in camera on your ios device. Note: Camera scanners may not read PDF417 government ID barcodes. The Scanfob 3002i is recommended to read these barcodes. Grid Settings Set the Mobile Grid mode, column headers, whether you will be adding data or auditing information, and how to prompt for quantity amounts. Different grid modes allow for different settings. A basic grid mode, like Action Profiles or Standard allows you to set the column headers. A more advanced grid mode, such as Attendee, will let you set up sound notifications and how the Plus button on the main screen is used. Column Headers Add, remove, or edit column header names

Plus Button By default, the Plus button is used to add a new row to the grid. This can be changed to show the guest prompt to add users on the fly. When using Show guest prompt, tap the Plus button on the main screen, then enter information manually or scan the guest driver s license (requires scanner that can read PDF417 codes, such as the Scanfob 3002i). Scanning a driver s license will enter the name of the cardholder in the Name field; you can then manually enter the Company Name, Phone Number, and Email. After clicking Save the Scan field and Check_in field are populated appropriately. Additional Setup for Show guest prompt Some configuration must be done from the Cloud-In-Hand.com account to allow the Show guest prompt option to work correctly. First, the file must be uploaded with Additional roster fields checked (see image below).

You will also need to map the roster fields. In the above example, the fields were mapped as listed below. The Select Roster Fields section is the naming scheme for column headers. The Select Data Fields section includes fields that are imported from a database file (uploaded to Cloud-In-Hand.com in the above step) Scan-Code, Check-in, and Name are required. Auto-Upload Grid Configure when grids are automatically uploaded; includes by set number of rows or time duration. Other Settings Allow grids to automatically adjust their width to display information, show popups for certain actions (used for beginner users), set the timeout duration for Mobile Grid, set how often uploaded grids are removed from the Grid Manager, and lock the orientation of the Mobile Grid screen (landscape left/right, portrait up/down, or system orientation.

MyData Manager Selecting MyData Manager will allow you to view the databases stored locally and on the Cloud-In-Hand.com server under your account. MGAP Manager The MGAP Manager will allow you to choose which Mobile Grid Action Profile is selected for this device. You can also download new Action Profiles from this menu. Contact Serialio for more information about Action Profiles or to have a custom profile built for your needs. Grid Manager Grid Manager will bring up a list of grids. This includes grids currently being used and grids that were previously used or uploaded. You can also edit these grids, upload a new grid, or delete grids from this screen.

Grid-In-Hand Mobile Grid on Android Connect Device Connect a Bluetooth or WiFi module to Mobile Grid. Camera Scan Allows you to use the built-in camera on your phone or tablet as a barcode scanner. Search Search the current grid for desired data. Settings Tap the Settings soft key on your Android device to access the Mobile Grid settings. Upload Grid Upload the current grid to your Cloud-In-Hand.com account.

Options Access the different options for Mobile Grid. This includes entering your Cloud-In-Hand.com credentials, setting options for grids and scanners, and sending log files. Cloud Account Enter your Cloud-In-Hand.com account name, password, and add an optional prefix for this device.

Grid Options Set options to automatically upload grids, set the font size, and set column names. Auto-upload grid by rows count will automatically upload your grid after a specific number of rows is reached. For example, if you want to upload the grid after 50 rows are scanned in, set this option to 50 and Mobile Grid will automatically upload the grid to Cloud-In-Hand.com after 50 rows have been scanned. Auto-upload grid by timer will automatically upload your grid after a set time period. For example, if you want to upload the grid every 10 minutes, set this option to 10 minutes and Mobile Grid will automatically upload the grid to Cloud-In- Hand.com after 10 minutes has elapsed. Upload only new rows will have Mobile Grid only upload newly scanned rows in the grid. If there are rows that have already been uploaded, either automatically or manually, Mobile Grid will not upload those rows. Post each scan will send each scan to your Cloud-In-Hand.com account as it is scanned. This allows for real-time updating of the cloud stored database file. This option is only available through the use of certain Mobile Grid Action Profiles. Contact Serialio if you need this option enabled. Scan column number allows you to select which column scans are sent to. This is a specialized setting that can be used for custom MGAPs. Contact Serialio for information about creating a custom MGAP.

Trigger Options Enable trigger events and set the data that is sent on those trigger events. For example, you can set up trigger commands to activate the scanner laser on a barcode scanner as Volume Down with an appropriate hex value. The same command can be set to Volume Up to be compatible with many scanners that Serialio sells. Descriptions The Description Options allow you to update description data (located in the header of your XLS/CSV file that was uploaded to Cloud-In-Hand.com), select an item database, set your columns for posting, enable/disable the descriptions, set audit or add mode, prompt for quantities, include a location, include a timestamp, and delete databases.

Action Profiles Enable use of Action Profiles for this device. Action Profiles (MGAPs) are special criteria used in grids. Contact Serialio for more information about Action Profiles or to have a custom profile built for your needs. Profile Settings Download new Action Profiles using the Get profiles list button or see the currently assigned MGAP. Allow multiple assignments When checked, allows you to load multiple MGAPs for different event assignments. For example, MGAP 1 can be set for a barcode scanner while MGAP2 can be set for the NFC reader on the Android device. Profile Options Tap and hold the currently listed MGAP to access the Profile Options. From here you can set the default MGAP assignment (Default assignment), assign scans to a specific event (Assign to event), verify the MGAP (Verify profile), or view information about the MGAP (View profile).

Splash logo Add a custom logo to Mobile Grid. Requires Power Upgrade license. Contact Serialio for more information about Power Upgrade licensing. Action Bar Enable or Disable the Action Bar on the main screen of Mobile Grid. RFID options Configure the settings when using a Bluetooth RFID scanner. Depending on the type of RFID scanner attached (UHF, NFC, etc.) the fields will display different formats including EPC, TID, and User Data. You can also use RFID options to set the scanner to read constantly, scan and interval timers, the power of the reader, and what tag type the Scanfob NFC- BB2 will read. General Options Options with IP30 connected Options with Scanfob BB2-UHF connected Tap the field for EPC, TID, or UserData to choose the format in which the data is posted. WiSnap options Configure the Connect message and device type for the WiSnap module connected to Mobile Grid.
