The Moleskine notebook is the heir and successor to the legendary notebooks used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway and Bruce Chatwin. 44 TECHNICAL DETAILS HOW TO PUT YOUR STAMP ON IT. There are a number of ways in which a corporate identity can be applied to a Moleskine object. From age-old methods that have been around for centuries to the latest technologies available today, the final effect is all in the details. Discover more about each technique below. FOIL DEBOSSING For thousands of years foil stamping was used to decorate objects with gold leaf. It is a strikingly impressive design technique that involves the use of a mould (commonly made of brass) which, with a combination of heat and pressure, applies a metallic foil to an indented image on any surface. Often gold, silver or glossy but also available in pastel colours, this technique can be applied to all items with HARD COVERS. SCREEN PRINTING Screen printing, or serigraphy, is perhaps the oldest printing method ever invented. The ink is manually pressed through a screen onto a printable surface. Screen printing can be multicoloured, including process colours from the Euroscale, which is especially useful for reproducing corporate colours. The end effect is bright and eye-catching and can be applied to all ACCESSORY MATERIALS and NOTEBOOK COVERS apart from soft, as well as on ENDPAPERS and PENS from the Classic and Light Metal Collections. BLIND DEBOSSING Just like foil debossing, blind debossing employs the use of a mould to create an indentation on a surface, but differs in its lack of colour as no foil is applied. It is the only printing technique which can be applied to SOFT COVER notebooks. OFFSET PRINTING Offset printing arrived in the 1960s, substituting letterpress and lithography due to its higher quality, simplicity and lower production costs. It is possible to reproduce all kinds of graphics printed in four process colours plus one or more pantone colours. This technique is used to print customizations on paper items such as PAPER-BANDS, FLYERS, INSERTS and ENDPAPERS. LASER ENGRAVING This technique is particularly suitable for the customization of the METAL PEN COLLECTION. Laser engraving employs the use of a laser to engrave an object with different patterns or a logo. The technique does not involve the use of inks, but creates an incision on the surface.
