Lionsgate Internship Program- Spring 2015 Santa Monica, CA January 12-April 3, 2015 20 hours/week maximum $9/hour LIONSGATE is the leading independent filmed entertainment studio with a strong and diversified presence in motion pictures, television programming, home entertainment, family entertainment, video-on-demand and digital distribution of content. The Lionsgate Internship Program is designed to provide interested students with a hands-on experience in the entertainment industry. Because today s students may be tomorrow s leaders, our desire is to provide these individuals with a meaningful and educational experience. Important Dates: The Lionsgate Spring Internship Semester will run from January 12-April 3, 2015 The last day to apply is October 31, 2014. Applications received after this date will not be considered. All interns are required to attend an orientation on either January 12, 2015 OR January 13, 2015 Details: Unless otherwise noted, all internships are located in Santa Monica, CA. Local candidates only. Interns must provide their own housing and transportation. Interns can work a maximum of 20 hours/week All candidates must submit a resume and cover letter While candidates must specify which department they are most interested in, each candidate will be considered for all available internships All interns must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university. Candidates may be required to submit proof of academic standing before final selections are made. All internships are paid. While we no longer require course credit for an internship, Lionsgate will accept academic credit at the intern s request. The Lionsgate Internship Program offers internship opportunities in many departments. The following is a list of departments that have had internship opportunities in the past. This is not an exclusive list, and all candidates applying should keep in mind that they may be considered for departments not listed. Accounting, Corporate Reporting: The Corporate Reporting internship will provide exposure to Corporate Accounting and SEC filings typical of a publicly traded company (i.e. consolidations, Form 10-K, Form 10-Q). Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing account reconciliations, assisting in the preparation of financial statement footnotes, and preparing various government surveys. It is highly recommended the candidate have intentions of starting a career in public accounting. There is a heavy focus on detailed work requiring superb analytical, communication and organization skills. Basic competency with Microsoft Excel is required. Completion of Accounting Principles 1 & 2 are required. Acquisitions: An internship in the Lionsgate Acquisitions Department will have a set of duties that consist primarily of reading and evaluating scripts as well as DVD screeners through writing coverage and helping with projects for the department. The internship also includes various administrative duties that would familiarize students with operating studio facilities and assisting with organizing production materials. Interns occasionally act as test audience participants to gauge reception toward a new film as well. This is a writing-intensive internship that requires diligent and hardworking students who are ready to learn.

BeFit, Home Entertainment Marketing: Interns in the Home Entertainment, Fitness department will help with the day-to-day operations of the Lionsgate YouTube fitness channel. Interns will get exposure and the chance to assist in executing national promotions with corporate partners and licensees. They will help prepare account specific programs at retail, assist with market research, and help develop and execute marketing plans. Interns with an interest in social media marketing are highly encouraged to apply. Codeblack Films: Codeblack Films, a division of Lionsgate, is a vertically integrated film production and distribution company focused on a providing independent studios, filmmakers, globally-recognized celebrities, intellectual property rights holders and brands cross platform monetization solutions. Our interns will gain valuable marketing insight as it relates to theatrical releases and home entertainment campaign strategy and execution. Areas of focus may include exposure or focus on strategic planning, partnership development, publicity/promotions, grassroots, digital/social, creative, media, retail, distribution and more. Our interns will also explore a new medium space. It is a firsthand education to experience how a large traditional studio handles emerging social media platforms, such as: Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter. Creative Services AV, Home Entertainment Marketing: The Creative Services AV Department is responsible for the creation of trailers and TV spots that are used to promote all of Lionsgate s titles that are distributed on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital and VOD platforms. Intern responsibilities will include general administrative duties, transcribing, DVD duplication and authoring, A/V file conversions, preparing trailer and TV spot submissions for outside approvals, asset trafficking, and maintaining the department s vault database. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational and computer skills. Must have strong aspirations to pursue a career in the film industry. Familiarity with various digital A/V formats, both PC and Mac platforms, MS Office, QuickTime, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro, Avid and Final Cut Pro are preferred. Creative Services Design, Home Entertainment Marketing: The creative services department is responsible for the creation of artwork for all of Lionsgate s titles that are distributed on DVD, Bluray, Digital and VOD platforms. The ideal intern should be self-motivated, creative, have a passion for design and work with the mentality of no job too small. Responsibilities will include general administrative tasks, uploading files, searching in deep archives for art assets, assisting in reworking/resizing artwork, etc. Must be proficient in photoshop, Adobe illustrator, and InDesign. Film Music: The Lionsgate Film Music department works closely with Directors, Producers, Composers, Music Supervisors, Music Editors, Agents, Labels, Managers, Publishers, and Artists to ensure that projects receive the most innovative and effective treatment for any music needs. This internship will focus on assisting our team with artist research, importing songs into our music database, and helping with an array of projects with the goal of students gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business side of the music industry. Grindstone Entertainment Group operates in partnership with Lionsgate to release over 30 acquired and/or produced films per year. The primary duties of an internship with Grindstone will be helping the acquisitions and development team with reading and covering scripts, and screening films to evaluate and report back on. Various administrative/organizational duties that are part of Grindstone's day to day operations may require attention as well. A film degree with an emphasis on writing is ideal, but not mandatory. A love of genre films, a positive attitude and the desire to contribute to the team are all pluses. International Distribution: Interns can expect to gain a diverse learning experience as they assist the Lionsgate International Distribution department in a fast-paced and dynamic office environment. Daily tasks students should expect to handle include, updating international theatrical/home entertainment overviews, competitive release schedules, and analyzing international box office data, as well as ad hoc projects when required. Interns will assist the International Distribution team in preparation for international film markets, including AFM and Cannes. In addition, interns will help our International Promotions team by organizing promotional materials and updating artwork files. This internship will give students the opportunity to learn about various market trends and territories. Interns should be proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. Any interest in International Business is highly encouraged.

International Marketing and Publicity: The International Marketing & Publicity intern will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience on how both Lionsgate and Summit theatrical titles are executed across multiple territories around the world in the Marketing & Publicity field. Interns will be expected to help with reviewing domestic and international daily breaks, updating distributor contact sheets, gathering material for marketing strategy docs, supporting the team at local press events (i.e. premieres, press junkets and press days), assisting with the season s upcoming festival prep, helping with phones and mailings, and any other administrative tasks as needed. Interns will gain an overall understanding of the international role marketing and publicity plays in the studio system, while learning the basic skills of a Marketing & Publicity assistant. Must have an energetic and detail-oriented work ethic in this fast-paced environment, as well as a concentration or interest in marketing and publicity. Motion Picture Development: This is a very hands on internship with minimal errand running, just maximum exposure to the development process from one of the leading studios in the business. An upbeat attitude, a love of movies, and college credit are required. Interns must love to read and want to learn more about storytelling and what constitutes a strong film script. Sharp writing skills, excellent communication, and an attention for detail are a must. Motion Picture Post Production: Interns in this department will handle payroll for editorial groups, maintaining invoices, covering phones, various excel rosters, and setting up messenger runs. As interns become acclimated, they will be presented with the opportunity to review and analyze footage and cuts from our productions. They will also have the chance to work closely with production executives and learn the dynamics between the studio and editorial crews. Candidates should feel comfortable with Microsoft Excel and should be well-organized. Candidates should also have basic knowledge of Avid and/or a desire to learn it. Motion Picture Production: This position will support our production team and will become an integral part of our group by tracking production data of Lionsgate projects, distributing daily production paperwork, breaking down scripts, and researching potential shooting locations. This is a unique opportunity to learn the various aspects of the film industry and be involved in active productions at the company. The hands-on experience prepares individuals for a career in feature film production. This position requires a professional, self-motivated, hardworking individual with a great attitude and desire to learn. Sales Planning and Analysis: The Home Entertainment Sales Planning and Analysis Intern will be responsible for providing analysis and recommendations for the Sales Planning and Analysis team. The intern will gain exposure to the three major media outlets that of Home Entertainment department: Packaged, Cable, and Digital media. Specifically, the intern may conduct Catalog Decay Analysis, ROI Analysis for Marketing Promotions, Trend Analysis and general Business Intelligence research projects among other tasks. The ideal candidate must be analytical, able to effectively articulate their findings to the Home Entertainment Team, is a highly motivated self-starter, and detail oriented. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. Social Media, Home Entertainment Marketing: Interns in the Home Entertainment, Social Media department will help with the day-to-day operations of the Lionsgate Social Media accounts for catalogue titles and current Home Entertainment campaigns. Internship tasks include research, social media reports, community management, campaign calendar maintenance and organization, and various other special projects and administrative tasks. An ideal candidate is social media savvy, creative, and eager to learn. Photoshop and design skills are a plus. Tax: The Tax Department internship will expose the candidate to several major areas of tax services for an SEC registrant company including: 1) accounting for the entertainment industry, 2) financial reporting for income taxes and 3) tax return preparation for federal, state and local filings. Assigned work requires heavy attention to detail and exceptionally strong communication and organization skills. Candidates should be interested in pursuing certification for public accounting ( CPA ). Responsibilities include but are not limited to the preparation of period local tax filings, basic federal and state income tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other compliance issues. The intern will be required to assist tracking filing deadlines; prepare supporting calculations in Excel; write response letters to certain state and government offices. The intern will learn and utilize SAP accounting software and Lacerte tax preparation software. The intern will work with other key departments such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The intern will learn basic and accounting and tax concepts that will prepare you for any

entry level position in public accounting or in a large corporate environment. You will work with professionals that are eager to teach and help prepare you for your career. Television: The interns in the Lionsgate Television Department will be exposed to multiple aspects of both development and current, and will be asked to perform a variety of tasks. Their primary job is to complete coverage on scripts, novels, international formats, competitive pilot & series pick-ups and current Lionsgate shows. Our interns are also required to assist on various administrative projects delegated by the executive assistants in the department including covering phones, data input, greeting guests and office runs. By the end of the semester our interns will have learned a basic understanding of the Lionsgate TV department, how to write good coverage, how to cover a desk, and basic office etiquette. This position requires a reliable, self-motivated, hardworking individual with a great attitude and a desire to learn. All applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a passion for reading and writing intelligent, analytical coverage on each script submission. Television International Marketing: The International TV Marketing department is looking for interns interested in working with the team to promote the sale and launch of shows like MAD MEN, NASHVILLE & ORANGE IN THE NEW BLACK on networks, cable and platforms around the world. This team helps support the sale of product through creation of collateral and video pitch materials and post sale they support clients accessing all the materials needed to launch the show in their local territory successfully. Interns will help provide client support and should have a strong interest in the creative side, helping to select images, pull clips and aid in the flow of assets to clients internationally. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a marketing degree have a working knowledge of media asset file formats (jpeg, giff, mov, pro res, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, etc.). Interns must have excellent knowledge of Excel & Power Point and possess strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. An organized, detail oriented and professional who loves entertainment will be most successful with this team. Television Public Relations: Lionsgate s marketing department has developed an internship program that offers hands-on learning experiences with TV public relations and marketing. You will be exposed to the full life cycle of PR and Marketing from the conception of ideas to the completion of an integrated marketing program. As an intern, you will help support the team in various aspects of the execution of talent relations, events & awards coordination, social media, marketing and merchandising. Interns will not only develop professional relationships with associates of our marketing department but also have the chance to discover and understand marketing in a multi-media company. Responsibilities include assisting with charitable events, creating internal marketing tools, social media research, special event planning, copy writing, aiding with talent outreach, and other additional marketing duties as needed. Theatrical Field Publicity and Promotions: The field team implements overall theatrical marketing and publicity initiatives in cities across the US. This also includes planning and executing press junkets, PA Tours, and presence at festivals like SXSW as well as genre conventions such as San Diego Comic-Con. Interns will be expected to help with researching and updating administrative documents related to film titles, in addition to assisting with advanced screenings, talent appearances, press functions, and any other administrative tasks as needed. Interns will be working on all Lionsgate titles. Interns will gain an overall understanding of the role field publicity plays in the studio system, while learning the basic skills of a PR assistant. Theatrical Marketing, AV Team: Interns will work with the A/V team in its Theatrical Marketing department. Responsibilities include general office duties, DVD duplication and authoring, A/V file conversions, preparing trailer and TV spot submissions for outside approvals, editing the department budget in Excel, and learning the intricacies of marketing a film. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and computer skills. Must have strong aspirations to pursue a career in the film industry. Familiarity with various digital A/V formats, both PC and Mac platforms, MS Office, QuickTime, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro, Handbrake, and Final Cut Pro are highly preferred. Theatrical Marketing, Digital: The digital marketing team handles all online properties and initiatives for Lionsgate s theatrical releases, including social media, viral campaigns, website/app development, and media placements. Internship tasks include film franchise and competitive title research, social media reports, campaign calendar maintenance and organization, and various other special projects and administrative tasks. An ideal candidate is social media savvy, skilled in Excel and PowerPoint, creative, and eager to learn.

Theatrical Marketing, Strategy & Research: Interns will work with the Strategy & Research team in its Theatrical Marketing department. As the intern in this department, s/he will get first hand insight into the branding and positioning of a studio s various theatrical releases. Responsibilities include general office duties, assistance managing research budgets, analyzing and organizing tracking and testing data, ad hoc research projects, help coordinating research tests, assistance with branding and positioning studies, and creating & maintaining filing systems. There is also some opportunity for the research intern to work with other theatrical marketing departments as needed. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and analytical skills. The candidate must have strong aspirations to pursue a career in the film industry. Ability with numerical data and familiarity with MS Excel are highly preferred. Worldwide Television & Digital Distribution (NEW YORK CITY and SANTA MONICA): This department distributes films and television series to television and digital platforms worldwide. An internship in this department offers the opportunity to research potential clients, analyze historical sales data to help shape current sales strategies, create sales presentations, work with legal and finance departments on matters relating to distribution deals and assist in preparing department status reports for senior management. Ideal candidates will have strong Excel skills, excellent communication skills and great attention to detail. Organized and quick learners with the motivation to learn about distribution and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once will thrive best in this department. This internship is offered in the Lionsgate NY office, as well as the Santa Monica office.
