Registration Procedures Getting Started If you attended LC during the Spring 2011 semester and are eligible to return, follow the registration instructions listed below. If you didn't attend Louisiana College during the Spring 2011 semester, your first step is to apply for admission. If you have not applied for admission, please contact the Office of Admissions for information regarding requirements for admission to Louisiana College. In order to register for classes, you must be accepted for admission. If you are accepted for admission, you will be issued a Permit to Register. You must have your Permit to Register in order to be allowed to register for classes. For additional information regarding admission to Louisiana College, see the Louisiana College Catalog or contact the Office of Admissions, 487-7259. Pre-registration If you are attending Louisiana College during the Spring 2011 semester, and are in good standing, you are eligible to participate in pre-registration for the Summer 2011 semester. Pre-registration will be held concurrently with preregistration for the Fall 2011 semester. 1. Schedule an appointment with your advisor. Some departments may have scheduled a group advising meeting. See your advisor or department coordinator for details. 2. Meet with your advisor, at the time you have scheduled, to arrange your courses for the summer semester. Use the trial schedule on the back cover to work on your schedule with your advisor. When you have developed a satisfactory schedule, have your advisor sign the trial schedule. Schedules will not be processed without your advisor's signature on the form. 3. Bring your trial schedule and student ID to Hixson Student Center Formal Lounge for processing according to the schedule below. This schedule is based on your CURRENT classification. The registration center will be open 8:30-11:45 a.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m. according to the following schedule: Seniors and Freshmen -- April 18-19 Sophomores, Juniors, & others -- April 19 4. If you pre-register for the May Term, you MUST finalize your registration on Monday, May 16. If you preregister for Term I and Term II, you must finalize your registration on June 6. If you pre-register only for Term II, you must finalize your registration on July 5. Follow steps 2-8 listed below to complete your summer registration. If you do not finalize your summer schedule on the dates listed, your schedule will be dropped. Registration For May Term (May 16 - Registrar s Office) If you did not pre-register for May Term classes, see your advisor for help in completing the trial schedule. Your advisor must sign the trial schedule before you may register. Pick up registration materials at the Registrar's Office in Alexandria Hall Room 146. Complete registration at the Business Office, Alexandria Hall Room 148. If you pre-registered for courses and only need to finalize, come to the Registrar s Office. You will be given instructions at the office for completion of registration.
Registration For ONLINE Courses, Terms I and II (Richard W. Norton Memorial Library) Although not required, students may register for BOTH summer sessions at this time. Please remember, if you register for both sessions, full payment must be made for both session at registration. If you receive financial aid, you should check with the Financial Aid Office to ensure compliance with financial aid regulations. If you are pre-registered for the summer semester, begin with step 2 according to the schedule below. 1. Before beginning the registration process, see your advisor for help in completing the trial schedule. Academic advisors will be available in departmental offices on Monday, June 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your advisor must sign the trial schedule on the back of this booklet before you are allowed to register. 2. After obtaining an advisor's signature, you will register according to the first letter of your last name: Monday June 6, 2011 8:30-9:30 Q - T 1:00-2:00 U - Z 9:30-10:30 M - P 2:00-3:00 A - D 10:30-11:30 E - H 3:00-4:00 I - L You must register according to the above schedule. If you cannot come at your assigned time, contact the Registrar's Office. 3. Begin in the lobby of the Richard W. Norton Memorial Library. You must bring your student ID card in order to complete registration. 4. Verify medical information with Health Services. 5. Register automobile, sign up for meal plans, and confirm housing plans. 6. You may make adjustments to your preregistered schedule at this time. If you intend to make changes, you MUST have a new trial schedule signed by your advisor! 7. Pick up bill, check financial aid if necessary, and settle account with the Business Office. 8. Stop at the Last Station to have your enrollment finalized. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ENROLLMENT FINALIZED TO OFFICIALLY COMPLETE REGISTRATION. New students must have their ID cards made in the office of Student Development on the third floor of the Hixson Student Center.
Registration For Term II (Registrar s Office) If you did not register for Term II classes on June 6, you may register for them on Tuesday, July 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Registrar s Office. If you did not register during the June 6 registration, see your advisor for help in completing the trial schedule. Your advisor must sign the trial schedule before you may register. Pick up registration materials at the Registrar's Office in Alexandria Hall Room 146. Complete registration at the Business Office, Alexandria Hall Room 148. If you registered for courses during the June 6 registration and need to register for additional Term II courses, obtain a Drop/Add form from the Registrar's Office. Complete the form and return it to the Registrar's Office. Special Instructions For Teachers The Local Teacher Quality Program offers statewide tuition assistance for teachers taking courses toward certification or professional/leadership development. Funds are distributed to the public school districts, nonpublic systems, and independent public and nonpublic schools in order to best address local certification shortage issues and/or professional/leadership development needs. Teachers interested in Local Teacher Quality funding should apply directly to their local district, system, or nonpublic agency through which they are employed. Local agencies will provide the appropriate applications, guidelines, and time lines for applying. General Information Class Load Students will be allowed to register for only 3 hours in the May Term. Students registered for 6 or more hours for Online, Term I or Term II are considered full-time (6 hours for Vocational Rehabilitation). Students registered for less than 6 hours are considered part-time. STUDENTS MAY NOT REGISTER FOR MORE THAN 14 HOURS TOTAL IN ALL SESSIONS, INCLUDING MAY TERM, ONLINE, TERM I AND TERM II. Course Offerings The information in this booklet is as accurate as possible as of the date of publication. However, because of changing circumstances, the College reserves the right to make changes to this information as deemed necessary. DIS Courses You may register for Term I or II DIS courses June 6-8. You may register for Term II DIS courses July 5-7. Pick up the form to register for a DIS course from the Registrar's Office. Dropping and Adding Courses During the late registration period, May 17-18 (May Term), June 7-8 (Term I), June 7-10 (ONLINE) and July 6-7 (Term II), you may adjust your schedule by dropping and/or adding courses. Drop/add forms are available at the Registrar's Office. No change to your schedule is possible after May 18 for May Term, June 8 for Term I, June 10 for Online classes and July 7 for Term II classes. If you wish to drop all courses, you must resign from the college. Housing Adequate college housing is available for both men and women. Unless written permission has been obtained from the Office of Student Development, students not living at home are expected to live on campus. Contact the Director of Housing for additional information. Late Registration If you register after Monday, May 16 for May Term; Monday, June 6 for Term I and Online classes; and Tuesday, July 5 for Term II classes, you must pay a late fee of $50. The last date to change courses, including change from audit to credit or vice versa, pass/fail to grade or vice versa, dropping courses with a refund, dropping courses without a grade, registering for DIS courses, and processing repeat course forms is May 18 for May Term, June 8 for Term I, June 10 for Online classes and July 7 for Term II classes.
Repeating a Course If you are repeating a course that you originally took at another school, you must file a Repeat Course form with the Registrar's Office by May 18 for May Term classes, June 8 for Term I classes, June 10 for ONLINE courses, and July 7 for Term II classes. This form may be obtained at the Registrar's Office. If a Repeat Course form is not completed and filed, the repeated courses will be averaged. In any case, the last grade earned will become the grade of record and no course can count more than once toward degree requirements. If you are repeating a course at Louisiana College that you originally took at Louisiana College, you do NOT have to complete a Repeat Course form. Please see the current Louisiana College Catalog for the complete policy on repeating a course. Resignation If you wish to drop or withdraw from all courses, you must resign from the college. An official resignation form must be processed in order to resign. If you do not officially resign, you will be considered enrolled and may receive failing grades in all classes. If you resign by May 18 for the May Term, June 8 for Term I, June 10 for ONLINE Courses or by July 7 for Term II, you will have no courses or grades listed on the transcript. If you resign from May 19-23 for the May Term, June 9-20 for Term I, June 11-24 for ONLINE Courses or July 8-18 for Term II, you will receive a grade of "W" for each course. If you resign from May 24-31 for the May Term, June 21-27 for Term I, June 25 July 1 for ONLINE Courses or July 19-25 for Term II, you will receive a grade of "WP" (passing) or "WF" (failing) for each course. You may not resign from May Term courses after May 31, Term I courses after June 27, ONLINE Courses after July 1 or from Term II courses after July 25. Resignation forms are available from the Registrar's Office. Withdrawing From Courses After the end of late registration, you may withdraw from a course, although the course remains a part of your permanent record. You may withdraw with a grade of "W" from May Term courses from May 18-23, Term I courses from June 8 June 20, ONLINE Courses from June 10 24, and from Term II courses from July 7 - July 18. You may withdraw with a grade of "WP" (passing) or "WF" (failing) from May Term courses May 24 31, Term I courses from June 21 - June 27, ONLINE Courses from June 25 July 1, and from Term II courses from July 19 - July 25. You may not withdraw from May Term courses after May 31, Term I courses after June 27, ONLINE Courses after July 1 or from Term II courses after July 25. If you wish to withdraw from all courses, you must resign from the college.
