Integrated electronics for enhanced performance, energy efficiency and reduced emissions

A SHARED DRIVE Hyperdrive Innovation develops powertrain systems for electric, hybrid and conventionally powered vehicles. We are a solutions provider driven by industry s requirements for enhanced vehicle performance, optimal energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. As a dynamic technology-led business we have developed a range of electronic products and engineer integrated vehicle drive systems for automotive, industrial, defence and marine applications. Our clients include Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and their supply chains, as well as fleet operators and aftermarket converters. With a strong track record in research and development we are committed to collaboration in developing the next generation of electronic and low carbon vehicle technologies. Electric and hybrid system design Electronics and software development Powertrain design and prototyping Vehicle modification and conversion Battery pack design and build Electronic controls and fuel monitoring Fleet trials and performance management

Committed to delivering low carbon innovation for all vehicles

INNOVATION WITHOUT BARRIERS Based on our proven delivery in the automotive and commercial vehicle sectors, we have successfully transferred our technologies and know how into industrial, marine and defence applications. Complete technical solutions can encompass sub system development from initial concept through to design and full production. We may have already discovered how to solve your problem in which case, we can license our technology and intellectual property for you to use. Alternatively, we can work with you on the development and integration of new powertrains, sensors, energy storage and electronic control technologies bespoke to your vehicle requirements. Battery packs Battery management systems GPRS enabled data loggers CAN electronic control units Battery fuel gauges Range extender generators Sensors and actuators Complete drive modules

PASSENGER AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES Our products are being used in passenger, commercial and high performance vehicles with conventional, electric and hybrid electric power. Controller Area Network (CAN), Electronic Control Units (ECUs), vehicle sensors, battery packs and battery management systems, range extender generators and GPRS enabled data loggers can be developed to OEM and component supplier requirements. We have developed complete drive modules for electric vehicle prototypes and manage our own fleet of electric cars. Bespoke hybrid drivelines and energy storage solutions have been developed for high performance and niche vehicle developers, and commercial conversion specialists. Our H-Logger data logging and telemetry technology provides real time access to vehicle performance data. This enables clients to optimise the benefits of large scale vehicle trials and protoype fleet tests by accessing raw data and online analysis tools.

Driving a step change in electric powertrain technologies

INDUSTRIAL AND HEAVY DUTY Heavy duty vehicles and industrial equipment can require innovative electronic solutions to meet their requirements to generate power and reduced emissions. As developers of integrated systems for high power applications, Hyperdrive Innovation specialises in integrated battery packs and battery management systems for vehicles, powered equipment and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs). We can also develop and integrate sensors to improve vehicle performance and reduce carbon emissions. Given our industry experience we are recognised as a problem solver by OEMs, component developers and engineering conversion specialists.

MARINE AND SUBSEA We re working with the marine industry on the development of cleaner and more efficient technologies, including a new generation of electric and hybrid propulsion systems for surface and subsea applications. Our fuel monitoring systems, energy storage and hybrid power train solutions are currently in use offshore. Given the challenges of increasing fuel costs and stricter environmental legislation, there is significant scope for technology development in both commercial and leisure operations. The subsea sector is also placing increasing demands on technology to operate deeper and for longer at sea. We are working with manufacturers and operators of powered subsea equipment to improve performance and management systems for unmanned equipment offshore. DEFENCE Vehicle conversion for the armed forces is increasingly more sophisticated and we routinely undertake problem diagnostics before making any improvements to operations, emissions and fuel economy. With our understanding of vehicle electronics together with onsite mechanical engineering capabilities we can design and modify vehicles for use on land and at sea. We integrate new systems and solve any unforeseen communication issues as they arise. Range Extender generators are compact, portable and efficient and can be deployed in APUs for off grid applications or emergency power.

PRODUCT RANGE BATTERY PACK High energy-density lithium ion battery packs are used in automotive, marine and industrial situations. They are ideal for high current/ power applications where space is limited and can be connected in series or parallel with a built-in BMS and CAN bus connection to ensure optimum performance and life. BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS) Our BMS automatically manages balancing between cells to optimise energy consumption and range, control the charge and discharge of the individual cells, and monitor cell heath. It communicates with the other vehicle systems via the CAN and including any other CAN BMS modules, enabling up to 255 cells to be daisychained together for use on large series battery installations. CAN ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) The CAN ECU module is a single board development platform for automotive and industrial CAN-based control systems. It provides a flexible low to medium volume platform to which control algorithms can be programmed into for managing motors and transmissions, power electronics, thermal systems and drive by wire controls. BATTERY FUEL GAUGE Suited to single use and rechargeable cells the gauge gives an immediate visual indication of how much energy is remaining in a cell. It is particularly suited for use by companies operating subsea equipment in the offshore oil and gas industry and is typically used to monitor a single cell which can be part of a seriesconnected battery pack. H-LOGGER - GPRS ENABLED DATA LOGGER The H-Logger provides a cost effective solution for trials of new vehicles and fleet management as real time data on vehicle location and fuel consumption can be accessed and monitored on-line at any time. The portable device plugs directly into the vehicle s on-board diagnostic port and records CAN messages along with the speed and position of the vehicle using its own on-board GPS. RANGE EXTENDER GENERATOR Hyperdrive Innovation has proven its range extended electric systems in modified petrol and diesel internal combustion engines, and these are now being deployed in new vehicles. Not to be confused with parallel hybrids, range extended electric vehicles are designed to be run from the battery, but have a petrol or diesel generator to recharge as required. Electrical drive backed up by conventional liquid fuel reduces battery size and recharging times.
