Remote Telemetry and Diagnostics - The IRIS protocol, incorporated in the IRIS telematics platforms, allows users to be simultaneously connected to multiple remote instruments or sub-systems via a network structuresupported by GSM, ADSL or Optical Fibre and compatible with automotive CAN and MOST networks. The protocol is also supported by the TCP/IP and Ethernet leading network protocols. The IRIS protocol was developed to meet the demands of the offshore industry to provide mission critical, control and communication with remote vehicles and sub-systems located on the seabed. IRIS is incorporated in ground penetrating radar systems developed by ExxonMobil and Statoil. IRIS is currently working under the auspices of the Technology Strategy Board along with three other engineering firms on a project that will provide the UK economy with a world leading capability in tracking the environmental cost of transporting goods; offering the potential for consumer demand to encourage greater local sourcing. 3 Automotive OEM In today s market Automotive OEMs are moving at a much higher technological pace, yet still have the need to test and evaluate development and pre-production vehicles prior to product launch. Anything which has the potential to reduce the manufactured cost of the vehicle or the cost to the manufacturer of that vehicle during its in service life is an attractive proposition. The IRIS 1002 is a remote datancluding HSDPA (GSM 3G) and 802/11G (Wi-Fi) as media over which data acquired by the device from the vehicle CAN network is downloaded. The IRIS 1002 also has on board Compact Flash memory of up to 32 GB to store the logged data prior to download. The availability of a geographically local server will provide a means to download the vehicle data prior to the transfer of downloaded data to the main manufacturer s server via a wide area network connection or the Internet. Real-time Video with Data The IRIS Video overlay card overlays data on up to three independent video channels, acquires digital video frames - with or without overlay data super-imposed and together with an appropriate software suite controls and synchronises chains of video/data recorders using the time-encoding facility. The interfacing routines enable users to describe any number of incoming data telegrams on any number of input RS232 and USB communication ports. Users can configure the layout of each overlay channel using standard Windows drag-and-drop control and the incoming variables are displayed in text or picture boxes on each overlay.
