Getting Started In order to activate Mobile Banking, you must first be enrolled in Personal or Basic Business Online Banking. Enroll at mechanicsbank.com. Need help? Call us at 800.797.6324 to get started. If you are already a Personal or Basic Business Online Banking user, proceed with the instructions below.
2. Installation 1. Using your Windows Mobile Phone browser, go to mechanicsbank.com/mobileapp The Welcome Screen will appear: 2. Scroll down and click Continue to the next screen: 3. This screen will provide you with instructions for downloading the Mobile Finance Manager application. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to click the Next button. Note: That is step 1 of 2 of this process. 4. Take note of the Activation ID in bold red numbers that is provided on the download page. Activation ID: You will need this Activation ID later in the installation process. Click the Download button.
5. Once you click the Download button, you will see the screen at the right. The message will ask whether you would like to download the installer on the device. Verify that the Open file after download box is selected, Click Yes to continue the installation. Note: The device may ask you to reboot to complete the installation. 6. After the application has been downloaded and successfully installed, the device will display a confirmation screen notifying you that MFM has been installed. Click OK button at the top right hand corner to continue 7. After clicking OK, you may be brought back to the download screen. Close the browser. Click the Start menu and select programs from the drop-down menu. Verify the MFM Icon appears in the screen, double click the icon to launch the application. MFM Icon Scroll to the MFM icon then click to launch the application. You may be asked to Allow Applications Permissions, Click Yes to continue. 8. Once MFM has been launched, it will prompt you to enter the Activation ID obtained in step 4, above. Enter the number and click Ok. Note: If you receive an error message asking you to check your network configuration, see the Network Setup instructions in the appendix below. 9. Everything in the Setup screen should be pre-populated except for the User ID and Password fields. Type in your User ID and Password. Click Save to confirm your settings. Your MFM User ID and Password are the same as those used for Personal or Basic Business Online Banking.
10. Once you have completed the information in the setup screen, you may be prompted to click the Save button to confirm the settings. Note: For more details on the options available in the Setup screen, refer to the set up section below. 11. After properly installing and saving the MFM application, you will receive a notification requiring you to check your email that you use for Personal or Basic Business Online Banking. The email will provide you a one-time PIN number that is required to complete the activation. You will also receive instructions on how to proceed. Please follow these email instructions. You will be asked to Log In to Mobile Finance Manager by adding the one time PIN number to the end of your user Personal or Basic Business Online Banking password. For example: If your one time PIN number is 3470, and your password is jump 123, you will enter your password jump123 and then add the one time PIN to the end of your password: "jump1233470", place in the password field within Mobile Finance Manager then click Save.. 12. Once you have clicked Save from step 11 above, you will be taken to the MFM Welcome screen. Congratulations! You have successfully installed MFM for your Windows Mobile Phone! You are now ready to have banking on the go! The following pages will give you instructions on accessing and using Mobile Banking from your Windows Mobile Phone.
3. Using MFM On Your Windows Mobile Phone 1. To access MFM, Click the Start menu and select the MFM Icon located on your Phone s Screen. As an alternative you first have to click Start, then select Programs to get to the MFM icon. 2. Once you have selected the MFM icon from the step above, and logged into MFM Mobile Banking, the Welcome screen will appear. From here you can navigate to the following areas of the application: Banking: View balances, transactions and transfer funds between accounts. Graphs: Display simple graphs depicting Account Balance or Income and Expenses. Setup: Manage user information and frequencies of MFM upgrade queries. About: Information about the Mobile Finance Manager (MFM) application. Help: Abbreviated user guide for MFM. Exit: Closes the application. 3. Banking: To access your account information, select Banking from the Welcome menu. The bank account list is the main screen for banking and displays a list of your MFM eligible accounts and their balances. Tip: You may prefer to use account nicknames on your display. You can change your account names to nicknames through the User Options in Personal or Basic Business Online Banking. 4. Options: By highlighting the account, you have the following options from the bank account list menu: Transfer Money: Transfer funds between your eligible Mechanics Bank accounts. View Transactions: View the transactions for the highlighted account. You can also view the transactions by pressing the action button on the device. Refresh: Check to see if there are new transactions or updated balances. Back: Exits the current window and returns to the previous window.
4. Set-up Options To change your current application settings, select Setup from the Welcome Screen. The following options can be managed from Setup: Account: This area allows you to enter the username and password for the account that MFM is currently setup to access. When you select this option, the data for the currently accessed financial institution is displayed. Financial Institution: This field, confirm that it reads MB, for Mechanics Bank. User ID: To add or change the User ID, select the Add button next to the User ID field, which will open a new screen for you to add or edit the User ID. Click OK to return to the Connection screen. Password: You can also change the Password for the account by clicking and editing the text the Password field. Activation ID: An MFM-specific ID provided during installation Check for updates: Frequency of MFM s automatic updates.
5. Updating and Uninstalling MFM The MFM application may require and update to remain current. 1. Before updating, make sure you have written down your Activation ID, found in the Setup screen in MFM. You will need this number to update MFM. 2. MFM will automatically check for a new version every month, but you can also check manually by selecting Updating tab at the bottom, and then click Check Now button. This will connect you to the Internet and begin checking for a new version. 3. If an update is ready, you will see a message saying, MFM version X.X is available for download. Would you like to upgrade now? Click Yes, and the browser will open the installation web site.. Follow the same steps you did for the original installation (above) and you re up to date! Click Ok when asked if you want to delete the balance history and presets, you should choose No. Uninstalling MFM Follow these instructions for uninstalling MFM from your Mobile Web Phone. 1. To begin, Click the Start menu, and select Settings from the dropdown list. 2. Click the System tab at the bottom, and then select Remove Programs. 3. In the list of installed programs, select Access Softek, Inc MFM and click the Remove button. 4. A warning message will appear asking if you are sure you want to remove the program, click Yes.
6. Appendix / FAQs Having trouble with Mobile Finance Manager? The troubleshooting steps and service options below provide the smoothest path to resolving any issues you might have. 1. When trying to download financial data, the device returns: "Error The connection could not be requested. Check network settings." Verify the device s Internet connection is enabled and that you are able to access a website from your phone's web browser. Ensure that your Wireless connection is on. 2. OFX error 15500 and 15002: Sign on invalid / User Lockout This message appears when your login credentials have not been entered correctly. Reenter your password in the Setup section of the application and try connecting again. If the problem persists, you may have to contact your financial institution to verify your user ID and password. Error code 15002, please call us at 800.797.6324 if you receive this error. 3. When trying to download financial data, your device indicates it has detected a problem with the certificate. This message appears because your Mechanics Bank mobile server security certificate is of a type that is not recognized by your device. However, this does not mean that the security of your device, the Mechanics Bank mobile server, or your financial data are not secure it simply means the website certificate is not of a format that the device recognizes (the actual certificate being used for your device's web access is different). Choose the option to Continue to close this message. 4. When trying to connect to Mechanics Bank, you receive error HTTP 500. This error indicates that Mechanics Bank financial server is currently unavailable. Please try again to connect later. 5. Error receiving OFX response: Timeout This message may appear if Mechanics Bank mobile server or your device s Internet connection is slow at the moment. Wait a few minutes and then try connecting and downloading your financial data again. 6. When trying to download financial data, your device states: I/O error: error 10054 during TCP read (Java messages attempt). This error occasionally appears when the web server has not properly received your request. Wait a few minutes and then try connecting and downloading your financial data again.
Network Configuration You may receive an error message if the device fails to connect to the Mechanics Bank server, which is followed by a screen asking for you to check your network configuration. Use the Setup screen (at right) to make changes to your network configuration. 1. To view the list of possible network providers, scroll to the Network settings field and press the Alt key (lower left of the keypad). 2. Select the correct network provider.
