Introducing Grace Bedford Bringing long-term, acute care closer to you
A comprehensive approach Introducing Grace Bedford, an exciting new addition to University Hospitals Bedford Medical Center, a campus of UH Regional Hospitals. As a certified long-term acute care facility the first of its kind in Cuyahoga County Grace Hospital has earned a reputation for clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. Now, UH Bedford campus has partnered with Grace Hospital to provide a 360-degree spectrum of acute care at one convenient location in our community. While UH Bedford campus continues to offer exceptional short-term acute care, Grace Bedford located on the third floor of the main UH Bedford campus building complements our comprehensive capabilities with exceptional long-term acute care expertise.
Giving long-term care a new meaning Grace at UH Bedford campus is not a nursing home. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, Grace Bedford focuses on the same level of acute care that UH Bedford campus does, specifically for patients who require a longer period of more intensive care. Grace at UH Bedford campus truly is a hospital within a hospital. Its mission is to provide specialized care for patients and families coping with catastrophic illness and injury. For many, the initial recovery journey takes longer than four days the length of time a short-term acute care facility like UH Bedford campus may accommodate for inpatient care. These patients need more time in a facility dedicated to nurturing the person while treating their complex acute medical conditions. That facility is Grace at UH Bedford campus.
Committed to continued improvement At Grace Bedford, an average inpatient stay is 25 days. During that time, it is Grace Bedford s goal: To be the bridge between a patient s short-term hospital stay and going home, or to a less intensive level of care. To restore the patient s greatest level of independence. To involve the patient and his or her family in the recovery process. Grace Bedford s new, 32-bed acute care facility at UH Bedford campus welcomes patients: Who are very ill, but progressing. With multiple long-term acute medical needs. Who will benefit from an intensive and comprehensive team approach to care. Acute care patients at Grace Bedford most often arrive directly from the ICU at UH Bedford campus or another University Hospitals facility. After their stay, they typically go home, continue their recovery at an acute rehabilitation facility, or return to the skilled nursing facility where they were residing prior to their initial hospital stay.
Dedicated to total wellness and comfort Following a thorough referral, assessment and care planning process, the dedicated staff at the new Grace Bedford facility provides 24-hour monitoring of every patient with a high nurseto-patient ratio. Physicians and specialists see each patient every day, and they are always on call to quickly and skillfully address any emergency situation. Since long-term acute care patients face many medical challenges, family members are permitted to visit 24 hours a day. Patients can make or receive phone calls from their bed, and familiar items from home can be brought in to make a patient feel more at ease.
