STEPS TO INSTALL STAAD.PRO v8i SOFTWARE AND ACTIVATION Prerequisite for installation of Staad.Pro software: 1. Log in as an administrator. 2. Internet connection is mandatory while installation to access the Bentley server and verify the activation key 3. The OS should be minimum WIN XP and above. 4. If the Operating system is of lower version then it should have Microsoft dot Net Framework version 3.5 SP1 installed. If not, it will automatically get installed When you will insert the CD you will see the file staadpro20.07.08.20 CD Follow the path Staadpro20.07.08.20 CD > dist2> Intel > v2007 > staadpro > 3fa7fd53dfde470da02ffb48fcbb50f9 > stpst20070820en.exe
It starts self extracting the data from the exe set up file.
It will show the sequence of installation. If you are using other Bentley softwares like Staad foundation, bridge deck design and want to link all the softwares with Staad.Pro then check the box Install companion products and then click install.
Read the terms given in the window. Check the option of I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click next.
Select the drive in which Staad.pro to be installed. It will install in C drive by default. If you don t want to change click on next
ter the server name and site activation key provided by Bentley by email. If you don t have the key, say next. You will be able to install the 15 day full version. Activation process can be completed once you receive the site activation key.
Provide Username and organization name. To allow any user to use the software on this machine, check the option anyone who uses this computer.
Select the default unit system. You can change it anytime in the future while using the software.
You can check and modify all the information provided till now, by clicking back button. Click install to start the installation. It will show the progress of installation.
Click finish to exit the wizard as the installation is complete.
The checklist of installed components will appear. Say Close. The shortcut will be created for Staad.Pro V8i and staad foundation on the desktop.
Click on the icon Staad.Pro V8i the following window will appear. You can check the version of staad.pro installed from the Help > About Staad.Pro.
Check on the design code you have purchased. It will be marked red when the license is not activated.
Click on License Management > Tools > Options > Enter the server name and activation key provided to you.
Click on test connection, If the key matches, the message will appear as Test key verified. Your license will be activated. If it shows can t access the server confirm the availability of internet connection. If you don t have direct internet access but through proxy server, fill in the details of proxy server with the help of system administrator. Please check if you are able to ping selectserver.bentley.com to access the license. If the fire wall or antivirus software is blocking the access to this external server, please allow the access to this server.
Desired Design code will get green. If not, you will need to restart the application.
If the Staad.Pro V8i window doesn t respond, then go to Licence Management tool from start menu Start>Programs>STAADProv8i> SELECT License Tools> Bentley SELECT XM Management Tool> License Check out>tools> Options
In the <License checkout > menu, two windows will appear. Upper window shows Available Licenses at Bentley Server and the lower window shows, the licenses checked out in your terminal.
When you use the software, the license automatically is checked out in the lower window. And when you close the application, the licenses are automatically checked in to the server s window. For any reason, if the license remains in the lower window( your machine license list), select it and <check in> with internet connection. The license should go back to Bentley server. Then only license can be accessed from other machine. It is strictly recommended that, do not permanently check out the licenses to your machine unless for extreme necessity. Do not fail to check in the licenses again to the upper window when the use is not restricted to only one machine. If the Operating system gets crashed during this permanent checkout period, then the license can t be retrieved again. If you find the upper widow showing zero licenses, find licenses have been checked out in any of the machines. Even if you remove or uninstall the software, the licenses checked out in the machine are not returned to the Bentley server.
