HISA provides a national focus for ehealth and health and uses its influence to create opportunities for change, for collaboration, growth, advocacy, representation and support for our community to drive transformative innovation in healthcare NIA contributions 1.1 NIA is recognised as the preeminent nursing body for nursing 1.2 NIA is represented on the HISA board 1.3 NIA is represented on CoNNO 1.4 NIA has an Australian representative on IMIA NI Learning, Education and Training 2. Preparing a 21 st century healthcare workforce to deliver a 21 st century healthcare system midwives to reach certification in health 3.2 NIA will support workforce development and capacity development in the growing health environment 4.1 NIA will provide nursing expertise on a state, national and international level 5.1 NIA will partner with other stakeholder representative groups to articulate and achieve common goals. ACTION PLAN NIA Strategic Plan 1.1 NIA is the preeminent national nursing body for nursing To raise the profile of NIA and ensure there is NIA influence, write an introductory letter to DoH, Medicare, NIA chair Mid 2014 Should this action be an annual ACN, AMLA, ANMF, HWA, ANF, MSIA, state and national chief nurses, Australian Consumers Forum, State and National Health Ministers (including the shadow health ministers) and other health bodies involved in the current development of health letter/update advising of conference dates, committee members and any other relevant news Active participation in CoNNO meetings and activities. Develop a Nursing Informatics position statement for Australia to distribute (research from an international perspective, IMIA NI) (vice chair) Mid 2014 Marketing at Universities and Expos in collaboration with the Australian College of Nursing via the creation and distribution of a NIA flyer member (Donna) Sent to HISA Admin Update yearly 1.2 NIA to have permanent representation on the HISA board NIA to have a permanent position on the HISA board to enable promotion of nursing this will be an NIA committee member nominated by the committee via Chair ASAP 3 Nursing Informatics Australia (NIA) Strategic Plan2015 2016 Final Version August 2015

NIA Strategic Plan 2.1 NIA promotes educational opportunities in nursing Nursing Informatics competencies to be promoted and to be submitted for inclusion to the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) Registered Nurse Standards for Practice member (Jo) End 2014 NIA maintains a representative on the HISA certification group NIA chair follow up with HISA CEO Mid 2014 2.2 NIA engages with stakeholders to support their education, involvement and participation in Nursing Informatics activities Write journal articles on latest developments in Nursing Informatics and submit to nursing and health journals i.e. AJNM and Pulse IT, including a conference synopsis. Incorporate the use of social media for engaging nurses - NIA to measure the number of nursing articles printed annually - Chair to contact Pulse IT journalist Kate - Jo and Donna NIA Chair Aug 2014 2.3 NIA will encourage networking opportunities Promote the benefits of nursing to nurses, and benefits of NIA Membership Work with each state branch to have a nursing focused forum once a year Create and use a LinkedIn NIA group 2.4 NIA promotes research in nursing Promotion of nursing related research and presentation via the annual NIA Conference All of to work at achieving this through their work, NIA conference, Website access for all members NIA and members 3.1 NIA will support nurses and midwives to reach certification in health 3.2 NIA will support workforce development and capacity development in the growing health environment Incorporate links via the NIA website Informatics credentialing NIA member to be included on this group. NIA Strategic Plan 4.1 NIA will provide nursing expertise on a state, national and international level members to attend conferences as representatives of NIA NIA will provide consultants, representatives and feedback to all developments in the health environment on a local, state, national and international level Involvement with CoNNO, IMIA NI NIA 5.1 NIA will partner with other stakeholder representative groups to articulate and achieve common goals Provide responses to any proposed policy development in relation to ehealth Nursing Informatics recognised as a specialty within nursing Lobby and work together with Health Workforce Australia to add as a nursing specialty. Lobby AHPRA to add nursing as a specialty in order to record the numbers Marketing and Communications See 2.2 Ensure NIA website maintains current information.
