Module 1: First Boot CHECK LIST Licensing: V Series Appliance License key Software: Websense 7.5 Installer for Windows Windows Server 2003/2008 (32 bit) SQL Server 2005, 2008, or MSDE 2000 Post Installation setup tasks (Active Directory Integration) Wrap Up Accounts: Service Account SQL Account IP Info: IP, Subnet, Default Gateway, DNS, Host Names (FQDN) Access: USB Keyboard/Mouse Monitor (VGA) Null Modem Serial Cable (Optional) FIRST BOOT CONFIGURATION STEPS 1) Once connected to the V series appliance via keyboard/mouse/monitor, power on the appliance. First Boot will automatically appear. 2) Accept the license agreement 3) Select Yes to run the configuration wizard 4) Enter the hostname of the appliance (e.g., appliance.domain.com) 5) Enter the IP of the C interface 6) Enter the Subnet Mask 7) Enter the Default Gateway IP 8) Enter the Primary/Secondary DNS IP(s) 9) Enter the password to be used for the Appliance Manager 10) Verify the information on the Initial Configuration Summary and select Yes if satisfied with settings After moving forward with the above settings, the wizard will take approximately 5 minutes to complete the configurations.

Module 2: Configure P1 and Table N interfaces of Contents INTERFACE CONFIGURATION STEPS 1) Access the V Series by opening a browser and entering: http://ip_address_c_interface:9447/ 2) From the Appliance Manager, Click on Configuration > Network Interfaces 3) Enter the IP/Subnet Mask/Default Gateway of the P1 Interface > Select Save 4) Enter the IP of the N Interface/Subnet Mask/Default Gateway > Select Save 5) Check to ensure time + time zone is correct under: Configuration > General > Select Save after any changes 6) Launch the Websense Manager by opening a browser and entering: http://ip_address_c_interface:9443/ Default login is WebsenseAdministrator (the password is the same password configured during First Boot). 7) Once logged in, click on the Settings Tab and enter the license key. Select OK and Save All 8) You may force a Database Download by clicking on the Main Tab > Database Download 9) Launch the Websense Content Gateway Manager by opening a browser and entering: http://ip_address_p_interface:8081/ Default login is admin (the password is the same password configured during First Boot). 10) Enter the license key under: Configure > My Proxy > Subscription > Click Apply > Basic > Restart (to save changes).

Module 3: Websense Software Installation (Reporting Server) Module 4: CHECK LIST Static IP address on Reporting Server Windows Server should be joined to the domain (if Windows Active Directory) Websense Web Security 7.5 Installer should be already downloaded to Server (mywebsense.com) Disable DEP (Data Execution Prevention) services Directory Account SQL Account SOFTWARE INSTALLATION STEPS 1) Launch the Websense75Setup.exe 2) Accept the license terms 3) Select Custom Install 4) Select TRITON Web Security, Log Server, DC Agent (if Windows Active Directory) > Select Next 5) Enter the IP Address of the Policy Server (C Interface on the V Series appliance). Leave the default port of 55806 > Select Next 6) Enter the IP Address or Hostname of the SQL Database server > Select the SQL Authentication type > Select Next 7) Enter or browse for the path of where the Log Database will be stored > Select Next 8) For Eval purposes, use the default settings for Log Database size > Select Next 9) Enter the domain account and password to be used for DC Agent (e.g., domain\username). Select Next Websense recommends using a (Domain Admin) 10) Verify the components to be installed > Select Next. 11) Websense Reporting is now installed. 12) There should be a file called dc_config.txt on the machine where DC Agent is installed. This file lists all domains and domain controllers discovered on the network. It is used to determine which domain controllers are monitored for collecting user names as clients authenticate to the network. To create this file: a. Open a text editor such as pad. b. In the following format, list each domain along with its associated domain controllers. The domains are listed between angle brackets "[]" followed by their corresponding domain controllers underneath. [DOMAIN NAME] dcwest1=on dcwest2=on c. Name the file dc_config.txt and then save it to the \Program Files\Websense\bin\ directory. d. Restart DC Agent service browser.

Module 4: Post installation setup tasks (Active Directory Integration) POST INSTALLATION STEPS 1) Launch the Websense Manager by opening a browser and entering: http://ip_address_c_interface:9443/ 2) Go to Settings Tab > Directory Services > Select Active Directory (Native Mode) > Add > Enter the hostname or IP Address of the Global Catalog Server > Select Full distinguished names > Enter the account information (e.g., domain\username + password) > Select OK twice. 3) Check to make sure you can add a Client under: Main Tab > Policy Management > Clients > Add > Click on Directory Entries If you can browse the directory structure, you have successfully integrated with Active Directory. If you cannot browse the tree, please recheck the account settings in Directory Services. 4) Import the Directory Service settings to the Logon Directory by clicking on: Settings Tab > Logon Directory > Select the dropdown to Active Directory (Native Mode) > Get Settings > Select OK and Save Changes 5) Websense recommends using the IP address of the DC Agent location vs. the hostname as the V Series appliance will only communicate with the Agent if it can resolve the hostname. Settings Tab > User Identification > Transparent Identification Agents > Select the hostname/server of the DC Agent > Change the hostname of the Server to IP Address of the DC Agent location (e.g., IP of the Websense Manager/Reporting server) Websense is now integrated with Active Directory for user identification, Policy Management for AD users/groups, and Delegated Administration.

Module 5: Wrap up/testing WRAP UP/TESTING STEPS 1) Launch the Websense Manager by opening a browser and entering: http://ip_address_c_interface:9443/ 2) Main Tab > Policy Management > Policies > Default Policy > Select the Category Filter and Protocol Filter that you wish to test with (e.g., Monitor Only, Basic, Basic Security, etc.). 3) Modify the categories to the proper dispositions/actions for the testing > Select OK and Save All. Default Policy is the Global Policy (blanket policy) in which all users will get out of the box. 4) To test a specific user/workstation, configure the browser to proxy to the V Series appliance in Explicit mode: 5) Launch Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Enable Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial up or VPN connections) and Bypass proxy server for local addresses > Advanced > Enter the IP Address of the P interface for HTTP using port 8080. If also testing Secure and/or FTP, enter the same proxy IP address with the same port 8080. 6) Close the browser and reopen. Attempt to browse to sites that should not be allowed based on the categories selected earlier.
