Dudley Private Hospital Hospital Description Owned & operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia s largest & most respected operator of private hospitals, Dudley Private Hospital is a dynamic acute care 57 bed facility & provides a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, rehabilitation and mental health services to Orange & the Central West of NSW. The hospital has 4 Operating Theatres & 1 Procedure Room and a new Hydrotherapy pool. We also provide Outpatient Rehabilitation and Mental health Programs the community. Dudley Private Hospital has established an excellent reputation in the community for its high commitment to customer service, staff satisfaction & quality improvement. Our hospital has been serving the community since 1915, at has been located in its current location since 1978. The Dudley team is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to patients. All departments are staffed by experienced and skilled health care professionals, who are familiar with the latest developments and research in their respective fields. The Hospital operates a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of the National Standards for Safety & Quality in Healthcare. Patient health, safety and comfort are the hospital s main concerns and Dudley Private Hospital continually monitors and evaluates its performance to achieve this outcome. Program Commencement Dates Dudley Private usually offers 2 intakes a year, depending on the TAFE calendar. Rotations offered at Dudley Private Possibility to rotate through following areas: General medical and surgical ward High Dependency Unit Rehabilitation Unit Mental health Unit Day surgery and recovery Unit Peri operative Clinical placement details

Prior to your clinical placement you will need to get in touch via email or telephone with the coordinator at the hospital. Their details can be found on the last page of this document. They will then advise you of your roster for your clinical placement. A morning shift usually commences at 7am and finishes at 3:30pm, and an afternoon shift usually commences at 2pm and finishes at 10:30pm. However this can vary between wards, therefore it s important to confirm these times with your Coordinator before you start. On your first day On your first day the program coordinator/educator will meet you at the front entrance of the hospital. You will be orientated to the whole hospital and advised on the Emergency management and WHS policies. A buddy will be assigned to you as well as a preceptor who will guide you and assist you in making the most of your placement so that you can complete your tasks with confidence and precision. You will find that even though you have been assigned a buddy and a preceptor, that all staff will be more than happy to answer questions and help you develop your skills. There is a dressing room available for staff as well as a dining room. Lunches and Dinners are available for a small fee but if you prefer please feel free to bring your own. A fridge is available for staff. Coffee, tea, milo, bread, jam and butter are free and readily available for all staff. Parking and Transport There is a car park at the back of the hospital reserved for staff. Parking is free. E learning, Vaccinations and CRC All students must complete mandatory e Learning prior to their first clinical placement. Your coordinator will contact you prior to your first placement with details on how to complete these modules. You must also have a current vaccination record and a current criminal record clearance. You must present these documents on your first day of clinical placement. Orientation Program Students will be offered orientation at the commencement of each rotation. You will be given tools to assist you with your orientation which will guide you and your preceptor to ensure you have a comprehensive orientation. It is the only Unit of its kind west of Sydney. Treatment at Dudley Clinic is based on a daily therapeutic group program which includes education, physical activity, stress reduction, relaxation techniques and sessions to develop skills to help with anxiety and mood disorders. Groups and one to one sessions are delivered by Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nursing staff and visiting teachers. Beds 15 Specialty Acute mental health

Student Enrolled Nurse Meetings are held on a regular basis. These allow students to debrief and discuss experiences with their peers and the Student Enrolled Nurse Coordinator. These meetings provide the opportunity for students to address questions and concerns in a positive and supportive environment, outside the clinical arena.
