ABOUT BLOCH At the Bloch School of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship are more than course titles they are the cornerstones upon which the curriculum is built. Bloch courses are designed around experiential, or hands-on, learning. Students roll their chairs into small groups, brainstorm and sketch ideas on whiteboards. They collaborate and create in ways that prepare them to succeed in today s rapidly changing job market. OUR BENEFACTOR The Bloch School is named after Henry W. Bloch, co-founder of tax empire H&R Block and one of the world s foremost entrepreneurs. Bloch has been deeply committed to the school s success. With the help of his $32 million gift, the school was able to expand and build the Henry W. Bloch Executive Hall for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which has become a model for business schools nationwide. With a professor s guidance, students work to solve real-world challenges. Classes in the Finance Lab have access to live market data. Bloch professors focus on hands-on learning, which increases students ability to apply research, make decisions and understand their chosen fields. I couldn t ask for anything better. Carly M. Jones (B.B.A.) Marketing emphasis innovative thinking + experiential learning SUCCESS WHAT MAKES BLOCH BETTER? HOLISTIC APPROACH The Bloch School curriculum connects business and public administration, providing a holistic experience that is unusual among business schools. Bloch students are wellrounded because they understand how for-profit, nonprofit and public organizations work together. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING In addition to soaking up knowledge via traditional lectures, Bloch students pursue it for themselves in experiential learning spaces. With teachers as mentors, students work in teams and use technology and simulation to solve real-world problems. This hands-on approach gives Bloch students an edge when they graduate. ENTREPRENEURIAL EMPHASIS The next generation of business leaders will need to be innovative thinkers who are quick on their feet and eager to embrace challenges and change. The Bloch School has been a pioneer in teaching entrepreneurship, and its programs have been recognized nationally for helping build dynamic leaders. 4 5
