Dear Candidate: As you know, a lack of management and business skills ranks as one of the major roadblocks to the economic development and social progress of any country. This is why, for many years, I have devoted a considerable amount of my time and energy in nurturing and building outstanding business schools across the globe. I have been involved in the creation and operation of five business schools IESE in Spain, IAE in Argentina, AESE in Portugal, and IPADE in Mexico. Each of these institutions is now considered world-class by any measure. I tried to be a good member of the team at all those organisations. My most admired model was Prof. Frank Folts from the Harvard Business School whom I met when I was there working for my doctorate. Prof.Folts played a key role in the launching of Executive Education at Harvard, but he generously managed to find time to be involved in the creation of several management schools around the world. Today I have the honour of being appointed by the Office of Governing Boards of Harvard University to serve on the Visiting Committee of the Harvard Business School. In 1994, I was instrumental in establishing the China Europe International Business School () in China, a not-for-profit jointventure between the European Commission and the Chinese Government. As you can see, this school has risen to become one of the best business schools in the world today and has played a major role in the development and transformation of the Chinese economy. As governments strive to modernise African economies in an increasingly competitive global environment, businesses and organisations in Africa will continue to need and demand excellent executives who are conscientious and innovative. is built on these key principles: conscientiousness, innovation, and excellence. In establishing a Programme in Accra, Ghana, to provide our world-class Executive MBA to executives in Africa, we are fulfilling these key principles as well as showing our commitment to the development of Africa. My experience has taught me that no matter whether you are in Europe, North America, Latin America or Asia, the necessary conditions for a successful business school are: excellent faculty, outstanding teaching, impactful research, understanding of the global reality, and having the best candidates in all programmes. We offer these and more at. Our programmes are focused on providing the latest thinking in business and management education that offers participants the insights to develop and implement innovative strategies and solutions to organisational challenges. Why We Chose Jeremy Rubel Senior Consultant Gannibal Consulting, France Okon Udo Akpan Asset Manager, Afren Energy Resources Ltd, Nigeria Africa EMBA 2010 After 10 years living and working between Africa, Europe and China, joining the EMBA program in Africa was obvious, as I wanted to put in perspective my experience with a world class education tailored to African realities. I chose because it offered me a flexible EMBA education with an excellent faculty from an international business school ranked among the world s best; yet close enough to Nigeria to be able to conveniently manage my employment and work environment, by virtue of its location in Ghana, Africa. During our 18 months together, we were not only exposed to mainstream western ideas but also to business cases from emerging economies in Asia and Africa. We were taught how to draw parallels to identify the key factors of success based on rigorous analytic methods. In July 2013, when our cohort graduated, we parted away; proud of our journey together and looking forward carrying on entrepreneurial and innovative vision. Anang General Manager, Norpalm Ghana Limited, Ghana Africa EMBA 2010 The EMBA Africa Programme has offered me a unique opportunity to meet and interact with highly interesting, intelligent and helpful people and this includes those who I have worked with as colleagues, facilitators and administrators. Above all, the programme has given me practical and valuable exposure to an ideal way of living, building work relationships, understanding organizational culture and identifying an effective approach to succeeding with business ventures. I will forever be proud of my exposure to and relationship with everything that has to do with. The Programme was flexible enough to fit my very busy schedule. It has been 21 months of insightful learning and research. The contents of the programme have brought a new focus to my approach in delivering on my core functions at work, leveraging on the various concepts, ideas and models taught and discussed. Mary Brown Deputy MD / Prudential Bank Ltd Africa EMBA 2009 Margaret Okonkwo Service Line Specialist, Soft works Limited, Nigeria Africa EMBA 2010 My experience with the EMBA Programme has taken me into a new and exciting phase in my life. promised us a world-class experience and this has happened. With the numerous opportunities, unique learning experiences, valuable information and world-class tuition from very experienced and motivated lecturers, I have gained invaluable new skills, capabilities, and insights which I hope to exploit to the fullest. I was looking for an MBA programme with an international appeal, a flexible schedule, one that would allow me to work and go to school at the same time. Fortunately, it was also among the Top 10 MBAs as ranked by the Financial Times in 2008. I believed I could learn a lot from China, and put into practice tools and policies that would be applicable to the developing world (Africa). It was a totally new experience. It was the first time I had to use cases as a learning tool. The professors were practical, as they brought to bear their practical experiences in the field, and use of concepts taught in class. It totally broadened my perspective. 20 Executive MBA Executive MBA 21
