(Segres, Continued) Education Committee 2009-2011 Current Employment Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist The Johns Hopkins University 2010 Present Candidate Statement Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you re going to get. This statement was made by Mr. Forrest Gump in the 1994 comedydrama film titled Forrest Gump. I initially served the CRNAs of Maryland in the capacity of MANA Student Representative in 2008 2009. I was a senior SRNA. The learning opportunities the position offered me were far and beyond my expectations. To my surprise, I fell in love with political service to Maryland CRNAs. I had no clue that I would crave to serve the nurse anesthesia profession as I do today. My passion for the profession of nurse anesthesia continues to grow, as I currently serve as the Secretary of MANA. I am eager to continue to hone my service skills as the Vice President of MANA. My experiences and education over the last three years are priceless. It is my goal to continue to work for Maryland CRNAs, and assist in positioning us to continue to provide safe and compassionate anesthesia to Maryland citizens.

(Sampson, continued) I have enjoyed my association with MANA the past two years and my work with the Nominating Committee. My goal for the upcoming year is to improve the online election/voting process, as well as to increase the membership involvement. It is important to the success of MANA for us to have a Board and Committees that truly represent the diversity of the CRNA population in Maryland. I hope to continue my work with MANA in 2012 to achieve this goal.
