PhD Program in Nursing GENERAL OBJECTIVE The major purpose of this PhD program is to prepare PhD nursing scholars with expertise in selected substantive areas, where nurse scientists will contribute to innovative and effective ways to study nursing care, disease prevention & health promotion, improve nursing education system and promote research, at all levels of health care delivery. Specific objectives: 1. To prepare a competent independent, mature and all round nurse researcher who will pursue an academic or clinical career. 2. To encourage development of creativity, analytical thinking, critical analysis and innovative problem solving. 3. To make significant intellectual contribution to the body of knowledge in the field of nursing and provide innovative solution to the day to day problems faced by nurses in their professional careers. 4. To prepare scholars who will evaluate critically the research studies in order to assess the quality and applicability of research findings in handling the patient care management problems. 5. Participate in Inter-sectoral approaches and utilize the recent technology and standards in prevention of disease & promotion of health.

SYLLABUS FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION Ph. D. Programme in Nursing Note: Major four subjects have been included for preparing entrance test for PhD in nursing. Weightage given to each subject is equal for all i.e. 25 marks for each. List of reference books is given at the end of each subject.
