Health and wellness benefits We understand that managing work, family and life in general isn t always easy. That s why we offer the following benefits (to employees working 20 hours or more per week) to help you build, balance and manage your career and your personal life. Aetna is dedicated to helping people achieve health and financial security, and that includes our more than 34,000 employees. That s why we offer a competitive and extensive benefits package, from medical plans and wellness programs to life insurance and retirement resources. This wide range of options is available to help you achieve optimal health and financial well-being not only now, but into the future. Medical You can choose from two types of medical plans: a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA). Both plans are designed to help you manage your health care decisions and spending. HSA Combines the advantages of health insurance with a special savings account that you can use to pay for certain health expenses now, or save for future health costs. HRA Combines the advantages of health insurance with a fund that is established by Aetna at the beginning of the year. You can use the fund to help pay your eligible out-of-pocket health expenses. Whether you choose an HSA or HRA, certain preventive care services are covered at 100 percent when you go to in-network professionals. And, you never need to get a referral for specialist care or select a primary care physician (PCP). You also have access to information and decision-support tools that can help you find ways to save on expenses and stretch your health care dollars even further. Dental You can choose from two types of dental plans, a dental maintenance organization (DMO) plan or a preferred provider organization (PPO) plan. Both plans cover certain preventive care services at 100 percent. They also offer coverage for basic services, such as fillings and extractions; restorative services such as crowns as well as braces. With the DMO, these services are only covered if you receive them from an in-network dentist. Vision You can enroll in a separate vision plan. The plan provides coverage for vision materials, including eyeglasses (frames and lenses) and contact lenses. Discounts on services such as LASIK, also are available. Flexible spending accounts You can enroll in a flexible spending account, which allows you to set aside pretax dollars to help pay for certain types of health care and/or dependent care expenses (such as child care and dependent adult care). Wellness and fitness programs Our employee wellness program, Wellness Works, is designed to help you enhance your health and work performance, and make the most of health benefits you receive at Aetna. Our wellness program offers a full range of services, such as toll-free nurse line, weight management programs, healthy lifestyles coaching, preventive screenings, wellness fairs, lactation support, flu shots and educational seminars. Worksite fitness centers Employees have access to Aetna- and landlord-operated worksite fitness centers at over 20 work locations. The fitness centers provide a variety of programs including personal exercise programs, group exercise classes, personal training, physical therapy and injury assessment (at selected locations), weight management programs, recreation programs, Lunch n Learns, and therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation. Earn incentives Eligible employees can earn financial incentives up to $500 a year for demonstrating healthy behaviors through healthy eating and physical activity, meeting specific health goals and completing a Health Assessment. Your eligible family members can earn up to an additional $500 a year in incentives.* 4 * Eligible employees and spouses/partners also can earn medical plan premium credits for participating in the metabolic syndrome testing program as well as non-tobacco use.

Company-provided life insurance We automatically provide term life insurance coverage that is equal to one times your eligible pay. To help protect you and your family in the event of an accident while you are traveling on company business, we also offer Business Travel Accident Insurance, which is equal to three times your eligible pay (up to a maximum of $1 million). Optional life insurance You can buy additional Supplemental Term Life coverage for you in an amount that equals from one to five times your eligible pay (up to a maximum of $3 million). You also may buy Supplemental Term Life insurance for your spouse or partner as well as term life insurance for your eligible children or your spouse or partner s children. You may buy optional Accidental Death and Personal Loss (AD&PL) insurance in an amount equal to one to five times your eligible pay, up to a maximum of $2 million. You may also purchase coverage for your spouse or partner, your children, or your partner s children. Retirement and savings benefits Achieving your personal financial goals is an important part of your life so, to help, Aetna provides retirement and financial benefits. Aetna 401(k) plan With the Aetna 401(k) plan,* you can save a percentage of your pay, either on a pretax and/or Roth after-tax basis. We will make a matching contribution to the plan on your behalf. You can invest your employee contributions among the various investment options offered in the plan, which include a Stable Value Option, index funds, the Aetna Common Stock Fund, a family of target retirement funds and a self-managed brokerage account. You may be able to transfer (roll over) funds from another employer s qualified savings or pension plan to the Aetna 401(k) plan, even if you are not contributing to the plan. Financial Wellness programs Our Financial Education program is designed to help employees manage and grow their personal and retirement wealth. Our program offers a full range of educational services, such as small group workshops, one-on-one consultations, videos and online tools and resources. Employee stock purchase program The Aetna Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) is a voluntary benefit that gives you the opportunity to purchase Aetna stock at a discount through the convenience of payroll deduction. In order to participate, eligible employees must enroll during enrollment periods announced by Aetna. Not only does Aetna offer a really competitive 401k plan, we also get free workshops and personal meetings to help make sure we re on track for retirement! Anonymous employee survey respondent 6 * In general, U.S. employees employed by Aetna or a participating company are eligible to participate in the Aetna 401(k) Plan. As of January 1, 2012, employees of Meritain Health, Inc., American Health Holding, Inc., Scrip World, LLC and Medicity, Inc. are not participating companies and therefore not eligible to participate in the Aetna 401 (k) Plan. However, they may be eligible to participate in a 401 (k) plan offered through their respective companies (as applicable).

Work/Life benefits From tuition aid, breastfeeding support services, education loans and home mortgages to charitable grants, our additional benefits offer a wide range of helpful support services. Paid time off Eligible employees accrue paid time off (PTO) on the first of each month. This time may be used for any reason, such as vacation days, family illness days, individual sick days and personal time. In general, during your first three years at Aetna, you receive the equivalent of 18 PTO days per year (prorated for part-time employees). The longer you work at Aetna, the more time you accrue per month. Company holidays, jury duty, military leave, bereavement and community service time are in addition to PTO. Employee work/life assistance This program provides employees and family members with access to services designed to help balance work, home and personal responsibilities. Short-term disability benefits If you become disabled and unable to work, we provide short-term disability benefits to help you meet your financial responsibilities. Eligible employees who become ill or injured (from a non-work related injury) receive a percentage of base pay for up to 25 weeks of certified disability. Employee tuition assistance program Generally, our employee tuition assistance program covers a portion of course tuition, registration fees and laboratory fees for a college course from an accredited college/university with proof of a passing grade. Qualified transportation benefit (QTB) A QTB allows you to direct part of your pay, on a pretax basis, toward eligible work-related transportation expenses, such as mass transit and parking. Jane, Customer Service Long-term disability (LTD) insurance We also provide long-term disability insurance coverage that provides a total monthly benefit equal to 50 percent of your eligible pay. You may be eligible to receive LTD benefits after 26 weeks, which includes the one-week waiting period and a 25-week period of certified short-term disability. In addition to company-paid LTD benefits, you may elect to purchase an additional 10 percent of LTD coverage for a total of 60 percent of your eligible pay. (A monthly maximum benefit of $15,000 will apply to the long-term disability benefit company paid and optional.) 7
