Camtasia Recording Settings To Capture Video Step 1: Resolution and Recording Area In the select area section, you can choose either to record the full screen or a custom screen size. Select the dropdown arrow to the right of the Custom box to access the various options. Select 1024x768 under the Standard option. Next, either lock to the size of a certain application you are using (Lock to application) or manually drag a rectangle to select your screen size (Select area to record). Step 2: Audio Settings The webcam should be turned off. Audio should be turned on, and when you speak into the microphone you should see a green bar moving in the triangle to the right of the microphone icon. Step 3: Recoding and Saving Select the red circle to record. You can also use the following hotkeys on your keyboard: F9 to start or pause recording F10 to stop recording Ctrl + M to add a marker to the recording After you stop your recording you will be presented with a preview of your recording. To save the recording, select Save and Edit. If you are not satisfied with the recording, select Delete. Page 2 of 13
Camtasia Studio Settings To Edit Video Step 1: Importing a Video To import a Camtasia recording into Camtasia Studio for editing purposes, either double click to open the.camrec file or use the Import media option at the top of the Clip bin. The first time media is added to Camtasia Studio timeline (right click on the recording file and add it to the timeline), you will be prompted to edit the dimensions of the video. Manually enter a width of 1024 and a height of 768 by either typing the dimensions. Page 3 of 13
Step 2: Audio Leveling To enable audio leveling and background noise removal, click on the clip you wish to edit in the timeline. Then select the audio tab beneath the clip bin. Check the radio buttons next to Enable volume leveling and Enable noise removal. You can also change the volume using the Volume down and Volume up buttons located in the Editing tools section of the audio tab. Step 3: Adding the Opening and Closing Screens Select the Library button and then scroll down to the Title Clips folder. Right click and select Import media to folder and insert the opening and closing image files ( videoclosingscreen.png and videotitlescreen.png are posted on the server). Drag the title screen to the beginning of the video. Double click on the thumbnail of the image on the timeline and then add the movie title. Change the font to Arial, 36 point, white. You can preview the title on the right side of the screen. Drag the closing screen to the end of the video. No changes need to be made to the closing screen. Page 5 of 13
Step 4: Adding Transitions Select the transitions button and choose the Page Roll transition and then drag it to the timeline between each section of the project. Page 6 of 13
Step 5: Adding Closed Captions Select the captions button and then play the video on the right side to listen to the audio. Click inside the caption area to add the script. Be sure to preview the captions with the video in order to assure the text is synchronized correctly; adjust the captions on the timeline, as needed. Page 7 of 13
