DAILY ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY Do not enroll in summer school if vacations, camps, sports, court appearances or other commitments will conflict with attendance in summer school. State law requires mandatory attendance that is non-negotiable. Students MUST be in attendance all 15 days of summer school. Attention Student Athletes: The NCAA Clearinghouse has specific requirements regarding summer school academic make-up classes and college eligibility. It is your responsibility to discuss these compliance issues with your high school guidance counselor and athletic director. FULL PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY THE COMPLETED APPLICATION AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. PARTIAL PAYMENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Eastland Career Center 2015 SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration Opens: May 18, 2015 (Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.) Last day to register: June 15, 2015 FEES: Students enrolled in Eastland-Fairfield or EFCTS associate schools $135.00 Students enrolled in non-efcts associate schools $165.00 EFCTS Associate Schools: Amanda-Clearcreek, Berne Union, Bexley, Bloom-Carroll, Canal Winchester, Fairfield Union, Gahanna-Jefferson, Groveport Madison, Hamilton Township, Liberty Union-Thurston, Pickerington, New Albany-Plain Local, Reynoldsburg, Teays Valley, Walnut Township (Millersport), and Whitehall. THE EASTLAND-FAIRFIELD CAREER & TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM DOES NOT OFFER ANY TYPE OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OR REDUCED FEES. 1. Summer School courses for high school students will be held at the Eastland Career Center beginning June 17, 2015 and ending July 8, 2015 from 8:30-12:30. There are no classes on July 3, 2015. 2. A list of classes being offered is included in this packet. Eastland Summer School is self-supporting; therefore, a minimum enrollment must be met in each course to cover expenses. Usually, there must be a minimum of 20 students enrolled to ensure that a course will be held. 3. The attached application must be submitted to the student s home school counselor or principal for approval. The application will not be accepted without home school approval. Complete the application and return it to the Eastland Career Center, Summer School Office, 4465 S. Hamilton Road, Groveport, OH 43125. Application forms must be submitted in person or mailed to the Eastland Career Center. Applications sent via fax will not be accepted. FULL PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY THE COMPLETED APPLICATION AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. PARTIAL PAYMENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 4. NO ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATIONS ARE MAILED. You are in the class unless you have been notified otherwise. 5. It is important that students enroll early so that teachers can be hired and classroom space arranged. Do not wait for final grades if there is a possibility that the student will need summer school. Delayed registration may result in the student being closed out of the needed class or cancellation of classes due to insufficient enrollment. 6. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire fee will be refunded. 7. If a student registers for a summer school class and then passes the class during the regular school year, the entire fee will be refunded. Students are required to provide grade card or a letter from the home school at the time of refund request. 8. If a student withdraws prior to 3 p.m. on June 16, 2015, the entire fee will be refunded. If a student voluntarily withdraws on the first day of summer school, June 17, 2015, one-half of the fee money may be refunded. NO REFUND WILL BE MADE AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF EACH SESSION. Refunds will not be processed until after July 17, 2015. 9. Students withdrawn due to attendance problems or for disciplinary reasons will not receive a refund of fee money or credit for the class. 10. The emergency medical procedure form must be completed at the time of application. 11. Parents or the student s home school must provide current IEP for reference if applicable. 12. No food service will be provided. Vending machines will be available for student use during breaks. No food or drink is permitted in classrooms. 13. SUMMER SCHOOL PROCEDURES AND REGULATIONS 1. Students are expected to behave in an orderly manner. Any student who causes discipline problems will be withdrawn from summer school without a refund and without class credit. 2. Tobacco, drug or alcohol use, and/or possession on school grounds are causes for dismissal from summer school without a refund and without class credit. 3. Students possess the right of privacy of person as well as freedom from unreasonable search and seizure of property. This individual right, however, is balanced by the school s responsibility to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all its students. The school maintains the legal control of the parking lot and grounds. Trained dogs may be used to alert authorities of illegal contraband. The administration reserves the right to, upon reasonable suspicion, inspect and search any student property or motor vehicle. Prohibited material will be confiscated. Students are responsible for the contents of their vehicles. 4. Students may wear appropriate shorts. Shoes must be worn at all times. Shirts and tops must cover the upper body. Clothing with offensive language, references to drugs, tobacco, or alcohol are not to be worn to summer school. All clothing must be in good taste and not disruptive to the learning process. Please be aware that the building is airconditioned and that some students find the classrooms chilly. Please dress appropriately. 5. Students are required to park in designated student parking lots at the career center. Students will be expected to follow the school s parking regulations. 6. Report cards may be given to students on the last day of summer school. Class credit will not be issued unless all financial obligations have been met. SUMMER SCHOOL ATTENDANCE POLICY 1. STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE IN ATTENDANCE EVERY DAY. Students who miss class more than 1 hour or are tardy and/or request early dismissal more than 2 times may be withdrawn from classes. Students who are absent one full day will be withdrawn from summer school. 2. All class time missed due to tardiness or early dismissal will be required to be made up at a time determined by the summer school principal. 3. Students who are withdrawn from the summer school program because of absence or tardiness will not receive a refund and will not receive class credit. 4. If a student is late to school or needs an early dismissal, he/she must check in at the summer school office to pick up an admit slip. Students will not be admitted to class without an admit slip. Early dismissals must be approved by the summer school principal. 5. Attendance has the root word attend in it, which means you should not only be in attendance, but attentive and paying attention. This means no sleeping in class. Sleeping in class will result in student being withdrawn from summer school without a refund.
