Teacher Training and Development Survey (EU-SPEAK 2 Project) EU-Speak 2 This project is funded with support from the European Commission (Lifeling Learning Programme, ref EACEA 539478-LLP-1-UK-Grundtvig) Dear colleague, EU-SPEAK 2, a project directed by staff at Newcastle University in England, is designing professional development opportunities for teachers of low/non-educated speakers adult immigrants (LESLLA Low Educated Second Language and Literacy Acquisition) at an international level. Partners are Europe: Universities of Cologne, Granada, Jyväskylä, Newcastle and Amsterdam; USA: American Institutes for Research, Center for Applied Linguistics and Virginia Commonwealth University. This project builds on EU-Speak 1, a partnership project which involved sharing experiences among a representative group of Europeans, working with low-educated adult immigrants. Please visit our website at www.eu-speak.net to learn more about both projects. Second Survey (active until 5 October 2014) You may have participated in our first survey which focussed on the knowledge and skills that teachers need. If you did, a big thank you!

Whether or not you did, or tried to do so, we invite you to take part in our second, much shorter, survey. Your responses will be anonymous, and your personal details will not be connected to your responses. We will use the information from our two surveys and feedback from extensive consultation with stakeholders to develop a pilot module towards the end of this year/early 2015. The pilot module will be delivered at international level as an online study circle. Our framework for a full, online curriculum for teachers who work with low/non-educated immigrant adults will be produced towards the end of our project in June 2015. Please complete the survey no later than 5 October 2014. This second survey asks you about the training/pre-service and development/in-service you or your teachers have had, what you are aware of and what you/your teachers need. We are aware that the needs of LESLLA teachers are rarely fully addressed and we know that responses to some of the items below may be 0 /you may not be able to respond. There is also space for you to share your thoughts and ideas with us in a Comments section at the end of the survey. NOTE: You may receive a message that the survey resides on a "nonsecure server." You can disregard this. The survey resides on a secure university server and can be completed without concerns. If you have any initial problems with it, please persist. Many thanks in advance for your participation and your contributions to this project. There are 33 questions in this survey
