Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. Winston Churchill 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 What is "Cloud"? What can we do with "Cloud"? Should we use "Cloud"? How do we do "Cloud" Best? Of course we use "Cloud"! What is "Cloud"?

Gartner's Definition of Cloud Gartner defines cloud computing as "a style of computing where scalable and elastic IT-related capabilities are provided 'as a service' to customers using Internet technologies." Five Attributes That Support Outcomes 1 2 3 4 5 Service Based Scalable and Elastic Shared Metered by Use Internet Technologies Consumer concerns are abstracted from provider concerns through service interfaces. Services scale on-demand to add or remove resources as needed. Services share a pool of resources to build economies of scale. Services are tracked with usage metrics to enable multiple payment models. Services are delivered through use of Internet identifiers, formats, and protocols.

Gartner Hype Cycle for Cloud Computing The public cloud services market is expected to grow 17.8% in 2014 to $153 billion. Through 2017, the market is forecast to reach $244 billion.* From "Hype Cycle for Cloud Computing, 2014," 24 July 2014, G00263850 * Gartner, Forecast: Public Cloud Services, Worldwide, 2012-2018, 2Q14 Update

Ask These Questions to Define Your Global Class Cloud Strategy for the Next year Essential Cloud Strategy Elements 1 Where and how should the enterprise consume cloud computing services? 2 3 4 5 Where and how should the enterprise implement private cloud environments? How will we secure, manage and govern cloud services across internal, external and hybrid environments? How does cloud computing factor into our application strategy and architecture? Are there opportunities for the business to become a cloud computing service provider?
