Innovations An integrated platform with a Java based middleware providing ITS services and facilities: Applications are thus easy to develop. State of the art communication subsystem: Including the latest achievements (IPv6, Network Mobility Basic Support, Multiple Careof Adresses) solving issues such as address space shortage, network address translation, address autoconfiguration, multihoming, permanent addresses etc. FAST, that can be used for efficient and quick communication with no fixed network infrastructure: about available services. exchange packets between vehicles travelling with high speed. Doing all this with open and standardized interfaces. 07-10-2009 NVTF

Summary CVIS/COMM today Open design, open software, open platform One platform for all CVIS test sites (easy maintenance) True layered architecture All communication links are supported always on Highly versatile middleware supporting any application Applications do not know nor care on link or platform Interactive standardisation work (ISO/CALM, IEEE/WAVE, ETSI,, CEN, IETF) Highly versatile platform for upcoming European Field Operational test sites 07-10-2009 NVTF

CVIS APPLICATIONS

CVIS Applications URBAN Traffic management Information, Routing Strategy, Network assessment Traffic Control Priority, Speed profile Basic traffic control functions Public transport Dynamic bus lanes

CVIS Applications INTERURBAN Cooperative travellers' assistance Enhanced driver awareness

CVIS Applications FREIGHT & FLEET Access control Dangerous goods Parking booking

Example Traffic information Collect vehicle information and provide traffic information from the Road operator No need to prevail personal details Trust that the data is correct, accurate, in time, consistent etc.

Example Dangerous goods Tracking of dangerous cargo to reduce risks on sensitive road segments No need to prevail all personal and cargo details continuously Information on hazardous cargo should be revealed in case of an accident
