Department of Kinesiology and Community Health Plan Discrepancy Model The mission of the master s degree program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is to prepare counselors to facilitate the personal, educational, and vocational development of individuals with emotional, cognitive, physical, and neurological impairments. The program prepares individuals to work in a variety of,, and human service settings that include community based and mental health centers, drug and alcohol treatment facilities, state and federal vocational agencies, colleges and universities, and a wide variety of social service agencies. The University of Illinois is a nationally recognized training program that offers a 48-semester hour, (Council on Education) accredited curriculum. Upon graduation, are encouraged to pursue both certification for the Commission on Counselor Certification and the pursue becoming a licensed counselor in the State of Illinois.
