Large Analog and Digital Routing Switchers for Serious Broadcast and Cable Applications
Applications: Broadcast Facilities Government Military CATV Headends Large Presentation Settings, Stadiums, Racetracks Corporate, Universities The Yosemite Family of routing switchers provides rugged reliability in affordable, feature-rich packages. For nearly two decades, Sierra Video Systems has provided more product solutions than any other routing switcher company. We have incorporated our familiar matrix design into our large, analog and digital switching systems. With Sierra Video Systems routers, you ll find the most advanced hardware and software control systems available to the broadcast or professional markets. Yosemite is an ideal solution for broadcast and CATV facilities using current audio and video formats while providing future flexibility to handle tomorrow s transition into the digital domain. FRAME SIZE The Yosemite Family provides exceptional performance in compact frame designs. Ranging from 64x64 to 128x128 I/O frames, Yosemite switchers can be expanded from 32x32 up to 128x256. The largest of these frames, a 128x128 video frame, is a mere 12" deep and 24.5"(14RU) high, while the 128x128 audio frame is only 8.75"(5RU) high. Optional redundant power supplies and control processors are available. Maintenance is easy on the Yosemite with front-loading and hot-swappable I/O modules. Yosemite routing switchers are convection cooled using the chimney effect with airflow moving through the frame from bottom to top without fans. This type of draft cooling is far more efficient, eliminates fan burnout, and dramatically improves reliability. Analog Video & Audio Frame Sizes: 64x64 96x96 128x128 Serial Digital Video Frame Sizes: 64x64 128x128 AES Audio Frame Sizes: 64x64 96x96 128x128 MULTI-FORMAT For total adaptability and complete management, Yosemite systems switch multiple analog and digital signal formats. Yosemite video frames can be co-populated with analog and digital modules and linked together to create one of the most versatile routing switchers systems in the industry. Our Yosemite frames connect to all Tahoe, Shasta, and Sierra Pro (except 88V5) frames to combine analog, digital, and 1.485Gbps HD all under one control system. Moreover, the balanced audio and seamless switching provide clean, vertical interval switching that meets the highest professional standards. Yosemite design allows for total flexibility and plenty of room to grow. For multiple channel component routing like RGBHV, wideband and multi-channel versions can be ordered. Multiple frames can also be connected together to provide break-away audio and/or time code routing capability. Sierra Video Systems can prepare your facility for the final stage of your transition from analog to digital. All Yosemite video frames are field upgradeable from analog to digital, and our Trade-In / Trade-Up program provides economical cost savings. Keep the durable frame and upgrade the modules whenever they are needed. SVS routing switchers provide a flexible upgrade path that will protect your investment for years to come. THE DIGITAL VIDEO SIGNAL PATH Yosemite digital video routers are based on a third generation low-jitter GaAs switching matrix, reducing internal jitter. Often with medium-to-large systems, cable lengths can grow to be quite long,

resulting in problematic signal loss. Automatic cable equalization is critical to maximum performance. Yosemite features a separate shielded enclosure for each input equalization circuit. Impedance and return loss are far less than competing designs while maintaining excellent reliability. Up to 300 meters of cable can be used at data rates of up to 360Mbps. Yosemite SDI frame sizes are available in 7RU 64x64 and 14RU 128x128 inputs and outputs. Our digital video routers consist of input circuits with automatic cable equalization for each source, followed by a 1.485Gbps GaAs-based switch array. Each output channel includes a reclocking circuit to reduce jitter before each output cable driver circuit. Unlike an equalizer, a reclocking circuit locks a VCO to the incoming signal. The VCO output is used to latch the incoming data, greatly reducing high frequency jitter. Yosemite systems come with four auto-select VCO frequencies: 143, 177, 270, and 360Mbps. Our serial digital video switching systems can be expanded to 256 outputs. By looping two frames together, 256 outputs can be achieved for maximum routing capability without the need for Distribution Amplifiers. SYNCHRONOUS OR ASYNCHRONOUS AUDIO Yosemite digital audio frames are compact and host multiple audio formats. The frames are available in 3RU 64x64, 4RU 96x96, and 5RU 128x128 with both asynchronous and synchronous options. These digital audio AES/EBU compatible routers use high-frequency digital 110-ohm balanced line receivers. They can also be ordered supporting S/PDIF single-ended signals with an I/O impedance of 75 ohm. Inputs and outputs can work equally as well in either 75 ohm unbalanced or 110 balanced configurations. Balanced or unbalanced audio is available with optional BNC adapter panels. In applications where asynchronous audio is needed, our AES asynchronous module provides cost-effective, high performance routing of any data rate input at a signal frequency range of 100Khz to 7Mhz. For synchronous audio application, such as live switching environments, our Yosemite AES synchronous option contains an input synchronizing module and an internal synchronizing clock generator. The internal synchronizing clock generator module produces all the required clocks to synchronize inputs without the need for an external synchronizing reference. The routing switcher can be set to output sampling rates of 32Khz, 44.1Khz, and 49Khz. The synchronous module also feature a bypass mode, allowing the input synchronizing circuit to be bypassed on an input-by-input basis so that non-aes/ebu signals such as Dolby AC-3 or MP-3 can pass through the router. The Yosemite synchronous option is ideal for facilities that contain multiple digital audio formats. COMPLETE INTELLIGENT CONTROL The Yosemite family s three-port control system incorporates many powerful features, while retaining control compatibility with many leading third party control systems and with most earlier generation SVS routing switchers. Intuitive user interface for router control and configuration, passwords, salvo setup, multiple input/output configuration, and name configuration Full naming of virtual sources and destinations, levels, and input and output connectors, are quickly accessible Windows based, client/server software is IP addressable and supports event timing and bitmap icons Up to 64 control panels can be linked at any one time, daisy-chained on a single RS-485 network. A variety of control panel styles are available, including single-bus, X-Y, simple keypad, color LCD multi-bus, and the fully programmable SCP-200. IntelliPath Management System, 804011 Rackmount, and the SCP-200 programmable control panel Ability to perform several dozen switches within a single vertical interval Open source protocol supported by most leading third part control systems, including BarcoNET s Rosa, Buf Technologies, Crestron, Crispin, Leightronix, Louth Automation, Panja, Sundance Digital, and Vista Controls.
