Forensic Practicum Training July 2008 to June 2009 Practicum student with the Delaware Division of Child and Mental Health Services (DCMHS) at the Ferris School for Boys. The Ferris School is a maximum secure (Level V) facility for male adolescents adjudicated for an average of 6 to 12 months. Responsibilities included: conducting intake interviews; administering the Global Appraisal of Individual Needs (GAIN), a biopsychosocial assessment, to determine substance use and mental health treatment needs of residents; consulting with multidisciplinary team to develop residents treatment plan; and maintaining a therapy caseload. Supervisor: Aileen Fink, Ph.D., Supervising Psychologist, DCMHS. Middle School Counselor and Teacher August 2003 to August 2005 Counselor and teacher at the Nativity Mission Center (NMC). NMC is a year-round and extended-day school and support center for at-risk male youths from low-income families in New York City. Responsibilities included: conducting individual and group counseling sessions for students with behavioral and academic struggles; administering assessments to screen for learning difficulties (e.g., Woodcock Johnson Reading Mastery Test); and designing and teaching various curricula for sixth and eighth grade students. Prison Counselor August 2001 to June 2003 Volunteer counselor, through the Jesuit Volunteers International, at the Belize Central Prison.
