A new feature has been added to the Mark Entry page to allow for a mark to be entered for multiple students. Checkboxes appear at the beginning of each student's row. The user checks on the boxes for the students who are to be assigned the same mark (or NA value), and then enter the mark for one of the students. All students selected will be given the same value. If the NA flag is being updated, and any of the selected students have data entered (mark, IEP, etc), the user receives a warning message that students will have this information deleted, and the user is asked if they wish to continue.

Find/Replace and Delete. Details on next page... SAVE often! If you type too many characters, your comment will not be accepted. Use the Spell Check before applying comments to students. Students
Find and Replace Within the Copy To function Go to STUDENT COMMENTS PAGE. Search for (any) comment to activate Copy To. In the working frame for Copy To is the Find and Replace Tab. The ability to search and replace comment strings is now available. Within the Copy To window is a new 'Find/Replace' button. The user will select the students to be included in the search, and can use the select all checkbox to select all students in the class. The user then presses the Find/Replace button, and window appears to capture the string to find, and its replacement string. NOTE: Comment(s) must be saved before being used in Find/Replace. The comment that is checked to open the Copy To window is not related to the Find/Replace function. LDSB Elementary Report Card Manual September 2014 Page 16 of 28
Find and Replace (continued) When the button Preview is clicked the application performs the search and, if any occurrences are found, replaces them and displays the result as follows: Note that only those students whose comment contains the search string will appear in the results window. Any other students in the class will be unaffected. If the user decides that some of the replacements shouldn t take place, these replacements can be skipped by unchecking the Select checkbox for the corresponding student. Once the user clicks the Apply button, the Find/Replace window is closed and the system attempts to apply the selected replacements to the corresponding students. If the comment is now too large for the available space, the message The number of lines exceeded is raised, and identifies the students having an issue. The user can then resolve this issue by editing individual comments directly from this window. LDSB Elementary Report Card Manual September 2014 Page 17 of 28
Find and Replace (continued) The replace functionality does not include special handling around the student s name and pronoun values. For example, a student's name should not be included in the Find string. If a pronoun is to be changed within a comment, the user will need to do two substitutions, one for comments with the male pronouns, another for the female pronouns. If there is a need to change the comment structure such as adding a word in front of the student s name, the user can take advantage of the Delete function to erase the entire comment for the selected students and then apply the new, corrected comment to these students.
